I toyed with a similar idea a while back. Sadly I don't think GZDoom has a way to combine sprites on the fly like that, so you would have to make full sprite sets of each type and combination. Definitely still possible, there's mods like Complex or Samsara that contain an insane number of randomized enemies, but it's not really what I wanted, and a ton of work if you're not using sprites that already exist. Parts that get assembled dynamically would be very cool!

The handwringing about copycats is so weird because one of the core aspects to this wad is that it is a play on a previously existing and very popular trend. There have been people making creepy Doom wads of their own houses for decades! And even after the twist happens, the wad takes you into liminal spaces and backrooms, both concepts that already existed and have had countless fan-driven expansions, additions, and “copycats.” It makes explicit mention of a number of its own inspirations. All art is in some way inspired by what came before. All art inspires what comes after. Insisting that something must exist in a vacuum is unrealistic.

The smoother animation really makes it clear how goofy the SSG reload is. Doomguy's just whipping his left hand around all over the place at lightning speed to get that shell in there!

That is a truly cursed mashup of alpha and PSX Doom Honestly the fact that they could have just used actual PSX Doom or one of the many GZDoom recreations of it but instead opted to create their own PSX-style Doom clone instead makes this feel much more spooky than it otherwise would have. It also ensures it is entirely incompatible with brutal doom, which is pretty nice.

I made this lil wad for 420 this year, it's just a bunch of simple sprite replacements for GZDoom. It's not the highest effort stuff, but it made me chuckle. Feel free to use any of it! DANK2.zip
  9. Really impressive stuff, and a lot of fun! I love that you can choose to just run from the ghouls and collect the keys. It makes fighting them feel like much more of an act of desperation and makes the low ammo feel a lot more fair. I played in Eternity, and the only issue I ran into is a crash while saving. I get an "unknown tclass in savegame" error. Not sure how urgent a fix that is, though. The map can, and probably should, be completed in a single segment anyway.

At the very least try putting the sprite in Doom before posting it. I’ve seen people sprite on phones and do it well before, but it’s clear that they understand the process and the sprites are made in a way that works. You can make sprites that don’t adhere to vanilla Doom’s restrictions on pixel density or color pallete or transparency, but again, people who make sprites like that generally keep in mind how they will be used in their engine of choice and let that guide their creation process. Simply attempting to put one of your sprites into a Doom wad, which I assume is the end goal here, will quickly show you why these images are fundamentally flawed. Of course if the purpose is to just create art for its own sake, then there’s nothing at all wrong with that, but maybe the right place to post it is a fan art thread or something. It’s not even about skill or quality or having the “right” programs or equipment. Just understanding what it is you are doing will help you out tremendously!

So to go along with this lil collection, I have now also made Crash Bandicoot's Big TNT crate out of Final Doom's TNT crate: It's not Doom pallet, but it is 128 tall and comes with a flat to use for the top/bottom. Speaking of which, here's the rest in 128 as well with matching 64x flats: These are in Doom pallet: (Use FLOOR1_6 for the top of the red tarp) The following are not, but they are fun! Also here's some shipments of supplies for Doomguy. These are made from Doom sprites, so will work great in Doom's pallet. Use my green tarp flat for the tops. Most of these are actually smaller than 64 wide, and they look great placed on some STEPLAD1 pallets! And a "new" skin variant using some cut Doom textures combined with the SKINMET walls so it'll play nicer alongside with retail texture. Probably been done before, but eh here it is anyway.

I love all these textures, but I recently made a more traditional Doom cabinet for myself as well. Also Polybius
