Hahaha... I somehow thought this was one of the few maps made by them. Haven't played TNT in a long time.

My take on doom games (closed: bad thread goes downhill)
Zilch replied to SHEYDE X43's topic in Doom General
Interesting point. Doom 3 was highly praised for its technical achievements, but seemingly its story is a bit more 50/50. Almost reminds me of 3DO Doom, which received universal hate but funnily enough the soundtrack got a 10/10 in just about every magazine review. -

Yeah, just ask Mick Gordon.

Is there any possible way of delete every article and comment I posted on doomworld?

Haha, this is just too funny! Seems that real slushy actually took this comment somewhat serious as well. -
Ohhh... well hfsexplorer is cross platform anyway.

Why not use HFSExplorer on Windows? http://www.catacombae.org/hfsexplorer/

@fabian Are you planning to look at the source code code and reference some of the sound functions to make Chocolate/Crispy Doom a bit more accurate, or would you rather stay away due to potential legal issues? Or maybe the sound implementation is already as good as can be?

Anyone know how to go about opening SIT archives on Windows, or even Linux? Browsing though the disc using HFSExplorer, but can't seem to get past those dang archives. EDIT: unar seems to work just fine.. > mkdir output > unar -output-directory "./output" Doom2.sit EDIT EDIT: I installed unar in Debian under WSL2.

Spent five grand and didn't hoard the disc. "You're a God damn war hero!"

I believe he will be doing the midi tracks again, and Buckethead will also return for the the 'MP3' soundtrack.

PC Zone Doom Level Competition - A little piece of history from 1994
Zilch replied to Endless's topic in Doom General
On a separate note, doesn't it annoy anyone that the Doom Fandom also uses the "Doom Wiki" title and an extremely similar icon (right hand side facing Cacodemon)? It happens more than once where sometimes I click on a link and only when the site loads I realize it's the Doom Fandom. This example below is an incredibly rare case where Google seems to have placed the actual Doom Wiki first, probably because they're sensing my anger and frustration! -
Agreed. Haswell (Intel 4th gen) will do wonders considering its age.

I'm sure they wouldn't mind😜

One thing I find pretty interesting is by how much modern laptops have increased performance. On my main laptop, which is an Asus BR1100F I have a Celeron N4500 with 4GB RAM. Compared to my secondary laptop (Gigabyte Q1500M) which has a Celeron T3500 with 2GB RAM, the modern CPU is of course much faster. The N4500 has a TDP of 6W, and the T3600 uses about 6x that at 35W! The Asus is also passively cooled, as a result of its low TDP. Now, ignoring that fact that it is "SIX TIMES" more efficient, it also runs significantly faster. Obviously this is thanks to features such as better branch prediction and lower process node - but nonetheless is awesome to see how far we've come. The Asus is also incredibly well built, has a touchscreen and very good connectivity. Sunder, for example, has no issues whatsoever on my Asus laptop, but drops down to single-digit frames on the Gigabyte. Sorry for my tangent...

I tried Crispy Doom 6.0 but aside from various compatibility issues with the WAD (hall of mirrors and bad stuff) performance kinda sucked. And I used low resolution mode!
-
Ha, I see what you're saying... Just tested on the ol' Gigabyte, and it kinda doesn't run well at all. Will play around and see if I can find something that works. Even poor Plutonia 2 struggles!
-
Perhaps try LZDoom? I find with software rendering (truecolour off!) I get pretty good performance at 1366x768 on my Gigabyte Q1500M with an Intel Celeron T3500 and 2GB RAM. Granted I have not yet tested it with Sunder, but I reckon it'll do pretty well. There are many other setting I tend to change, but software rendering is the main one. For the rest, don't be afraid to experiment a little bit!

Show & tell us about your physical DOOM collection
Zilch replied to Mystery Man in 3D's topic in Doom General
Here's my collection so far. I just picked up Doom 64, and I'm incredibly happy with it! The CD is Doom II v1.7 for DOS. -
You must seek the wisdom of legendary mapper, Sir John Romero.

With the release of Sigil 2 only a few months away from its 10 December release date, I started playing the first release again. Honestly it's pretty good, and good fun. Hehe, only at the 3rd level as of this post, but still! To me it really is a very memorable wad, with pretty decent designs. I understand some might not like the ledges and the 'shoot-able eyes' mechanic, but I think overall it really is a worthwhile map. Once again... really looking forward to Sigil 2. This wad should be good, especially considering Romero's had nearly five years!

The backpack is what doubles ammo capacity.

Can't believe no-one's mentioned Civvie11. A small channel, with only a mere handful of subscribers.

In one of his recent streams (E6M6 I think) he mentioned Sigil 3 might be a Doom II release. Not sure when that'll happen though.
