  1. Hey Doomworld. If anyone has wondered where I've vanished off too, don't worry, didn't die or anything, for those who don't talk with me on Discord!

     

    Way back when I logged on last, school and my mental state were really beating me down, and I ended up allowing it to take over, and inevitably I began avoiding the forums since it felt like a hassle to keep track of. Now that I'm in a better place, figured why not try and come back!

     

    Hopefully I can still be a useful MIDI creator every now and then, even if I'm gonna be trying to only take on small workloads, as that was part of what caused me to want to leave for so long.

  2. MAP14 done soon enough, I really apologize for being so silent about it. I just let this slip out of my mind!
  3. I'd much rather play Evilution than most of Doom, Doom II, and Plutonia. I would hope it was well received back then, I think it deserves it.
  4. Hey, I will give you credit that Sodding Death is better than most of the other maps that it's up against. I think it just comes down to The Furnace's nice pacing for a MAP01. Sodding Death never felt like much of a secret map, but wasn't bad. Just be glad you weren't Gene Bird. Speaking of which, did he ever go on to do anything else?
  5. I've always wondered where BPRD went. Especially knowing he worked on Commander Keen mods for a year or two before vanishing from there as well, I hope he's out somewhere. He doesn't seem to check the email on his personal site either. Would love to see him some day on here. Even though we know what he went on to do, it would be killer if Erik Alm ever came back. I took huge inspiration from Scythe 2 and the only good map in CC2 excluding the Mucus Flow.

    Bet your ass I'll try and map for this. Don't write me up on the list just yet, but... oh boy I am considering. I have a MM inspired map I was working as a matter of fact, so now it will finally have a use, it seems!

  8. Great! If time permits it, I can make a MIDI for it as well. Speaking of MIDIs, MAP24's MIDI is still a WIP but I've been getting along on it pretty well.
  9. While I do consider myself somewhat of an amateur in mapping, I would love to take a stab at it. Granted, I won't access to my editing tools for a moment, at most a few weeks, but I can always take that time to plan it out.

  11. I'm in love with Dead Zone, it's a nice abstract map to enjoy for me. TNT Midi pack helps add more atmosphere as well.

    Valiant is FANTASTIC!

    Ancient Aliens I would call just as good, if not better than Valiant. Just as visually striking, and the gameplay is just amazing. The music, all done by Stuart Rynn, has a wonderful texture and feel to it as well. Not as many new monsters, though, but the ones it adds are quite interesting. I would recommend it.

    Member Appreciation Thread

    I appreciate everyone for even keeping the game alive, for one! I especially appreciate @spwnSH4Rk for helping me kickstart my mapping, @MidnightMage for allowing me to take part so heavily in the Angry Quilt trilogy, @Steve D for my inclusion as a composer for RoC2, and @Cammy for inviting me to the Alien Vendetta MIDI pack. All of you helped me so much in realizing my potential here and I'll always be thankful. :)

  15. I second Pistool. The level of changes that are being made are ridiculous. While they may have a place in a big megawad, I myself do not think they have a place in a small community map; especially considering the first two quilts had basically no custom graphics outside of title screen and M_DOOM. I don't think I've seen nearly as many gameplay changes as I have texture replacements which I find somewhat infuriating, even if I'm not actively working on it. I think all of these replaced textures should be removed, and all new textures should be cut down to only the ABSOLUTELY necessary ones. I put plenty of effort into this and would rather it not be overshadowed by a bunch of green cacodemons, honestly...
  16. Here's a WIP of MAP14, about 50% completed. Texturing is a bitch, and so far if I don't remember a certain detail, I try to give it as much personal flair as I can. Most accurate room by far are the two crusher rooms after the starting area, I'm proud of those! MAP14.zip
  17. I can see something like Hell Revealed or Perdition's Gate in of those, something that's found years later and covered as a hidden gem online.
  18. Went back and made some changes to Cold Subtleness, so here's the final version. I'm taking the opportunity to make it somewhat fitting for how I remember MAP14 as well as just how I remember the song in general, though with a creative flair. subtlycold.zip
