Well, I'm going to upgrade from my PS1 to . . . something. Not sure which, as they all have their good points.
gamecube: cheaper price; metroid; more star wars titles; zelda; rogue spear
playstation2: rockstar games; more titles than gamecube; can install linux ...
xbox: doom3; halo; unreal championship; rockstar games;
What am I thinking? Doom3 won't run on my pc, but it will run on the xbox. Well, I guess my mind's made up.- Show previous comments 22 more

why climb a mountain? Seriously, though, some ppl found xbox+linux to be a cheap alternative to a new pc. Plus there's a 1337-ness to doing that which is its own reward.
You forgot that it's the absolute best way to give Microsoft the finger short of figuring some way to really screw them. -

Yeah, given that they lose $$ on each xbox unit sold, and are expecting to make a return by selling xbox titles to that xbox owner.
BTW, hello, long time no see. Fun times back then, ddf-modding and all. -
the PS2 is underpowered, the gamecube is a great system but not as many games, th Xbox is another great system however not that many games.
the PS2's biggest selling point is the fact it has so many games. however i personaly bought the xbox, reason. everything i needed was in the box.
network adapter
and hard drive, no more damn memmory cards
yes you can install linux on it. something about the Xbox only uses 8GB, but newer models have a 10GB drive. however it is a drawn out process to do it correctly. also i think that useing a USB adpater you can use external flash drives and such for linux.
also another reason i bought the Xbox is because my brother, at the time, owned a game cube. game cube is the cheapest. $100 and still a good system. however not that many action filled titles, compared to PS2 and Xbox. - Show next comments 3 more
