      >>1. Why is it that games have no mp3 control panel?

      I don't know.

      >> 2. I'm really anxious to see Fahrenheit 9/11

It might be interesting, but Michael Moore annoys me (though I can't argue with anyone who hates Bush!)

      >> 3. Doomworld and the web are distracting me from work

last summer I surfed the web a lot since I worked in an office. I never had much to do though, so it wasn't a problem. This summer I'm painting houses, so that won't be an issue. Also, this was not a question.

      >> 4. We are about to have our 2nd child.

Awesome, congrats. Make sure s/he doesn't grow up to be a jerk :P

      >> 5. Farcry is fucking hard, but extremely cool.

I have heard that as well, but I only played the demos (which were enjoyable, but hard and the voice acting was horrendous)

      >> 6. Should i apply for a job that requires me to be 60 days abroad (must discuss with wife)

if you can bear to be away for that long (is it 60 days all at once or like 30 days or what?) and the pay is good then go for it.

      >> 7. How do i get more self dicipline

I ask this question to myself every day. I find the thought of completly failing at life and everything (school or a job, or both) is enough to motivate me. Being a bum sucks except for the part where you don't have to do anything.

      >> 8. When is doom3 comming out.

Coming 2003. I mean this summer.

      >> 9. I must clear my agenda when the baby is born

That's not a question either, but yes you will.

DISAGREED. That's somebody else disciplining you. "Self-discipline" is a super-ego thing. The only way to "get" it is to just exercise it. It's something that's extremely hard to do, and is often brought on more by necessity than by choice. I see all the time where I should have exercised more self-discipline. I think the best way to get it probably starts with acknowledging mistakes made because of the lack of it. Plenty of realizations about responsibility that one has in life lead to exercising a little more of it. Mostly it involves realizing a greater responsibility to humanity, but it's likely to start with things like washing the dishes for your mom because she can't always be there to do it, or feeding your cat or dog or whatever, cleaning your room... (Yeah, I know you aren't a kid, those are just examples.)

Routine seems to help a bit. You're up and doing SOMETHING and that makes it easier to keep that momentum for things that you need to do that are out of the routine.

Well thanks guys. I think self dicipline has to do with focus. You must be focussed in what you want, and not give in to all kind of distractions. If you don't know what you want to focus on, you should focus on the fact that you don't know. Then aim your attention on what you should focus on. Ask yourself questions, and don't be a dumbass when ansewering them. You could even focus on getting that girl (learn how to be charming, practice and learn). If not you might end up in a situation that you will regret.

I don't think like Ultraviolet that it has to do with responsiblity. You have responsibility towards others, self dicipline has to do what you want to do. For example you can be very selfdiciplined in not being responsible. On the other hand it is possible that someone gave you task that because of lack of self dicipline you seem not be able of accomplishing. I guess then the art is to see that task in the greater sceme of things and focus on the ultimate goal you set for yourself.

      There I fail.

The biggest problem is actually getting around to do the work, because you're not planning out your approach. Solution:

Schedule your work time in 30-minute slices. I tell myself "I'm going to spend 30 minutes designing a website, and I'm not going to worry about how I'm going to go about doing it." Two hours later, I'm in the zone, getting lots of work done and having no idea where the time went.
