You possibly don't have any midi drivers or a midi library. I know Quicktime comes with a midi library, but it sucks. Still, if you need a last resort get that.

http://www.doomsdayhq.com/ 3d models and lighting effects ahoy. http://prboom.sf.net/ A bit more classical of a feel, and has some of the best port compatibility. If you really want newer stuff, I suggest using this for demos then. As for loading any PWADs, bring up the little dos command prompt thing in windows and use the -file <wad> param on whatever port. You can load more than one wad by typing more than one wad, example: zdoom -file music.wad textures.wad levels.wad. You choose the IWAD by typing -iwad <iwad> for most ports, but Zdoom and Doomsday have windows to do that for you if that bothers you.

skulltag -record demo If you want to record multiplayer demos, IDE SE and other launchers have a setting where you can run a parameter along with Skulltag, so you can dump it there. Doom Connector does the same.

No, No, and No. Those were transformed into compatibility settings. And, as Carn said above, "oldschool" mode emulates the first 2. Lucky for you, it's still very oldschool. However, most servers have the newschool stuff, but that doesn't stop you from joining an "oldschool" server or setting up one of your own. By the way, new server launcher = greatness.

There's also the Doom GBA games and Doom for the GP32...

Huh, my newest wad is apperently alright. Neato. The other wads actually didn't look too appealing, but nowadays I've been playing more DDR than doom anyway.

1) I believe EDGE uses the universal -file param. 2) Doom Builder probably has an EDGE config in it, so go check it out at http://doombuilder.com/ 3) 3d floors and slopes = no. Amazing options involving WEAPON editing = yes. Personally I never liked EDGE. The one thing it has going for it is the whole weapon thing, and soon Zdoom will be able to challenge it, so really if you ask me it's not worth the trouble.

This is my favorite pic of me: This is the most recent:

Freeform = suck. I mean, it's not much different than running around saying you are a knight as a kid and fighting "dragons" which happen to be in your backyard. The combat and such makes it much more realistic and believable. Also, IRC is a great idea. If I can find a good dice rolling script (mIRC's random number generator sucks) then I'll figure out things like demon stats and such. I'll post here when it's all done.

This would work much better as a REAL table-top role-playing game (like a d20 Modern mod or something). If you ask me, you need to have real-time interaction for it to be a true RP experience. That being said, if you STILL want stuff figured out on a technical aspect, I wouldn't mind doing anything, or modding for that matter. I'm into that RPG stuff (D&D and such; great game).

Wish I'd known about this earlier. I'll give it a shot. Edit: Yes, I'm done already. And I did a pretty good job, I say. http://box43.net/~micah/archive/hell.html Yes, I know it's Micah's webspace, but he wanted to put it on his site so instead of uploading to MINE I just went ahead and linked to his :P.

In respons to my last thread...3D..[picture of a tank included]

I want to see this textured, that's a great model. -
Nobody wants FF style battles for a MMORPFPS, or whatever you want to call it. My idea is that, since you can execute a script in a monsters death sequence, you could execute an EXP script then. That way, Doomish monster killing and EXP at the same time.

Hmm, for my little modified MAP03, I'm going to be making the water area full of Boom water with Zdoom color effects. Is this okay?
-
I think something like this COULD be possible, but it'd involve a nice big modification of Zdoom for it to work well. I'd imagine there'd be like several servers, set up similar to the way it is in Neverwinter Nights (about 30-40 on one server, each server serving different stuff). Of course, player data and such would go on the server. I'm pretty sure that if you still wanted to go along with regular Zdoom, the monsters can give XP with a little bit of tweaking in DECORATE.

To answer your question, yes, there's plenty of weapons in Doom, Hexen, Heretic, and Strife combined that are melee to have some stuff like that. To make a comment, if someone DID do this, it would suck hard, unless it was done JUST the right way.

niquel, definitely. I didn't like MmM's rendition of the pain elemental, and I have no idea what Agnes is. Also, it is an interesting take on the spider mastermind.

MAP03. I get a SWIMMING POOL!

This is funny. Personally I believe the best explanations are here. Also, you CAN eat the constitution twice if you eat the crap that was once the constitution (although you might not consider that a good way of looking at at it, but whatever).
-
Woo, I'll join in. Give me whatever.

The idea was to wish, not to make a realistic suggestion :P. That being said, it IS possible if you could outfit zdoom with a conversion tool, which it could use whenever the demo is loaded to make a zdoom demo, and then run that. Of course, I don't think Randy will do that, but I don't mind.

Zdoom 2.0.64 + compatibilty for Doom2 demos (so I don't need to use PRBoom when watching those Compet-N demos) and for TAS Doom and MBF demos (for TAS, obviously), and the ability to record those demos. Also, with some sort of 3d floor stuff besides Transfer Heights (preferably Legacy 3d-ish).

I once wanted to install Linux (Debian, a friend recommended it), so I got an ISO, and was installing, and then I thought, "Wait, why am I bothering? Linux is much more for servers and other such systems, not for gaming." So I cancelled the installation, got a quick partition manager, and turned the partition I WAS going to put Linux on into a nice FAT32 which houses my Doom folder currently (which is 1.5 gigs). Anyway, XP is good enough if you're an average user. I don't suggest going through with installing Linux without a good reason. And if memory woes you, I suggest getting Litestep. It's really not that bad.

I know the Mancubus one (tag 666) lowers all floors to the lowest surrounding floor, and the Arachnotron one is SUPPOSED to raise the sectors tagged 667 by 8. When I tried to get it to work, it didn't work. Any ideas why?
