  1. New build is as follows:

    What I just bought:
    i5 3570k
    Biostar TZ77XE3
    Geil EVO Veloce 16GB DDR3 (2 x 8GB)
    Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus

    What I already have:
Fractal Design Define XL R2 - Titanium Grey Case
    XFX Radeon HD6950 2GB
    Sandisk Extreme 120GB SSD, 6GB/S
    Toshiba 2TB 7200 RPM
    Caviar Green 750GB

    Peripherals:
    Acer P235H 23 inch monitor
2 Craigslist special IRC monitors, both 21 inch Dell, one that rotates
    Topping TP-30 USB DAC/Chip Amp
    Polk TSi100 Bookshelf Speakers
Filco Majestouch Ninja Mechanical Keyboard - MX Browns
    Logitech G400

I'm upgrading from an early Phenom II black edition, a dual core miraculously unlocked quite stably to quad. On a sad little DDR2 Mobo. This setup should do me well for gaming for quite a while.

      mmm Cherry key switches.
I believe the G400 was meant to serve as the proper successor to the MX518. I love that old mouse, but I moved onto the G500 when I found it on sale for $30 on Amazon.
That i5 will serve you well.

I also use MX Brown and love it. You bought a k-edition processor, are you going to overclock? And what are you going to do with your old system?

My MX518 is still kicking as a backup, and the G400 is great. It's a bit less of a fingerprint magnet too.

The Filco is such a sturdily built board, it's great. It's got some real heft to it and there's no flex whatsoever. It's got a bit of a price tag though.

I did buy a k, and I'm going to do some overclocking, yeah. I've read the 212 cooler is a pretty amazing value, especially at $20, so I'll see how well I can work it. If it's a good chip I might eek 4.5ghz out of it.

Still undecided on my old system, I may keep it as a backup/secondary machine, or sell it, or give it to a good enough friend. Time will tell.
