Privacy died a long time ago with a whimper. You can go through huge lengths to obfuscate, but information about you is still collected through other people to create a shadow profile. Unless laws are passed which hold governments and private entities accountable this will continue. With the current world climate and the ability for entities to sway lobbyists privacy erosion will keep on keeping on. I hate having to watch YouTube videos in incognito so I can avoid being recommended a bajillion related videos on the topic after the fact. It's also how people get thrown into topical echo chambers without even realizing it. I think that's as far as I can go without going full Snowden on the topic.

Mine is seeing it for the first time when it came out. My friends father had installed it on their 486. We weren't supposed to be playing it because it was violent. But we did. For better or worse it made a deep impression on me.

The campy parts give it a charm and lighten it up a little. I felt that way about the collectibles too at first. I think they struck a good balance instead of full on Doom Ultra Dank Dark Grim Death HD.

Using the crucible on a Tyrant only to hit an imp jumping at you instead was annoying. Also a neat way of balancing it.

They move after you drop in Eternal. It's only for a second and the screen fades to black.

I suspect they did it to make the areas feel more lively. To give that feeling your going into a war zone with creatures that will fight each other if they have nothing else to fight. Better then them standing still, aimlessly wandering, or teleport in all the time. They might have even wanted vignettes of earth survivors fighting at some point. But keeping in tune with cartoon violence and avoiding realistic depictions of violence against humans they had monsters WWE sparring instead.

I like the parody video on the first page. Then it pivots into why monopolies are bad, and how Billionaires are capable of investing more into elevating humanity's overall quality of life. But instead money machine go brrrrr

Mapping should always be a pleasurable experience. Being immersed and lost in a creative workflow as a means of leisure. If you are torturing yourself to make something then rethink why you're doing it.

A little generated panic at the start of a level if tastefully done can switch up pacing. If you want to be a dink and use arch viles or surprise revenant closet you can balance it out with an invulnerability sphere and BFG. Chain gunner surprise a mile away with pistol start not so much.

The other thing I thought I "remembered" about SNES Doom was the E2M8 Cyber demon level having plasma rifle and cells instead of rockets. Looks like I'm wrong about that too. I'm going to with faulty memory rather than go full Mandela effect lol.

Keeping a Virtual Machine of your preferred 32bit OS might be an option. Albeit clunky and why should it be a solution in the first place.

If memory serves me correct, lost souls left corpses in SNES Doom. They used the crushed corpse sprite. I always thought of them exploding into thin air and vanishing. Oh crap, we can now relate vanishing corpses into classic Doom Head cannon. Someone tell the corpse vanishing head canon guy.
