  1. I made another map for this project, this time a bit more involved combat wise. Christmas Smells Like Gunpowder Author: JJBoren Music: Jazz Jackrabbit 2: Bonus Stage Coop: Yes Difficulty levels: Implemented Build time: Around 3h 40min christmas_smells_like_gundpower.zip

    [RC5] EVITERNITY II - RC5 Released!

I guess we got a winner for the Cacowards 2024.
  3. Decades of Doom IWAD: Doom 1 Map slot: E1M1 Tested with: Chocolate Doom and GzDoom Difficulty: All difficulty levels are supported, should be roughly comparable to E4 Music: "Galaxy" from Memento Mori Co-op: 4 players [untested] Since the first game I played (or was that Jazz Jackrabbit?) turns 30 this month, I have decided to commemorate the occasion by making a simple vanilla map for Doom 1. Run around, shoot demons and hump some walls. DOWNLOAD Decades of Doom_D1.zip

    BlackJack Series

If you want a guide on Doom mapping for beginners, then I recommend this series by DavidXNewton.
  5. Map Name: Hot Lead For Naughty Demons Author: JJBoren Music: Jazz Jackrabbit; Holidayhare 1995 Build Time: Around 3h 50min Co-op Starts: Y Difficulty Settings: Y Comments: My humble offering for the season. Edit: I made a tiny adjustment to the map (I moved one enemy by few map units). If this is ok, then I'd prefer if version 1.1 was used. @BluePineapple72 hot_lead_for_naughty_demons.zip hot_lead_for_naughty_demons_1_1.zip
  6. Also thanks for the playthrough, it's nice to see that the level runs on old computers. Though this is like my 19th released map.
  7. I have made a small adjustment to the map. Nothing major, just makes one of the secrets a bit easier to access.
  8. Valley of Demons Map slot: 04 IWAD: Doom 2 Source Port: GzDoom Difficulty: UV and HMP Music: "Desk Lamp" by Stuart Rynn Textures: Otex 1.1 Download: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10bQ0LF60TAF6tNY95tsw-3YKaAOB-Z3M/view?usp=sharing I have been working on a new project, and since the release of it is probably at least a year away, I have decided to release one of the maps to get some early feedback. So please, tell me everything that is off with this map. I always want to improve my mapping. Edit: I have received some feedback on Discord: It seems that I forgot to remove a trigger for an unused script, now the game will complain about it but it shouldn't affect anything. Also I should probably tone down the difficulty a little bit in the release version.
  9. MAP31: "Weeping Souls" [ABANDONED] Map slot: 31 IWAD: Doom 2 Source Port: GzDoom Difficulty: All Music: "Briefing" from Descent 2 Textures: Otex 1.1 This was meant to be the first secret level of this wad, conceptually this started as a homage to Doom 64. However, I have decided to replace this with another map and I have decided to release this since it's almost done. Maybe someone will get some enjoyment out of this. The map should be 100%:able, unless there are bugs I have missed. Some secret might be annoying to find since I never came up with a more elegant way to access them (there are few hidden switches). I highly recommend playing this map with hardware accelerated rendering. The map works with software rendering but it looks really damn odd. Also, I'd be interested in hearing if someone manages to break the scripting in the final encounter. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1K-m2v3VmjOvFMXgYyKEp9KFnWnxKrQf0/view?usp=sharing
  10. I have decided to just publish MAP08 "Trouble In Tiny Temple" from the three maps I was able to make this month, so I guess you can add that to the list. Link: https://www.doomworld.com/forum/post/2725595 Also here are few screenshots of my maps, including MAP11 that I wasn't able to finish.
  11. MAP08: "Trouble In Tiny Temple" Map slot: 08 IWAD: Doom 2 Source Port: GzDoom Difficulty: UV and HMP Music: "Adagio for Strings" from Rise of the Triad Textures: Otex 1.1 I made three levels for this project during this year's NaNoWADMo and I have decided to publish MAP08 early. I thought a brief and concise map would be good for pacing since the next fours maps will have at least 400 monsters in each of them. Other than that I don't have much else to say about this map. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mxigUounMNoVojA_kuEkd1XoqQ-1jeIx/view?usp=sharing
  12. RAMP 2023 has some interesting maps, like 002, 111 and 247.

What were the first Pwads you've ever played amd completed?

My first PWAD was Sigil. After playing that I decided to check out what the community had produced and after some reading I picked Alien Vendetta.
  15. I guess I should make a map or two for the megawad I have been working, though I won't be releasing them for a while. Edit: I'll try to make a map every week.

    UNFINISHED.wad [RC1]

Map Name: MAP09 Author: JJBoren Music: N/A Resources: N/A Format: Boom Comments: This was meant to be an ePIc finale for a Doom 2 episode I published earlier this year. I abandoned the development of this map after I had come up with a more interesting idea for a finale. I added a functional exit to this map along with ammo and health. I never came up with a name for this map, but "EPIC GENERIC ARENA" might be a fitting name. 100% this map might be a pain due to janky teleporters. I have tested this map with PrBoom+. Edit: Reuploaded the right file. Screenshots: MAP09.zip
  17. Thanks for the feedback, though I can't see any missing textures at my end.
  18. MAP06: "Rumble in the Jungle" Map slot: 06 IWAD: Doom 2 Source Port: GzDoom Difficulty: UV only for now Music: "Rave On" from Killer 7, midi from vgmusic.com Textures: Otex 1.1 Download: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wuIgjXT_Y2tl4KDG_Ox9QIeTRX3nkRYT/view?usp=sharing Seeing how useful the feedback for the MAP04 has been, I have decided to release a beta version of MAP06. Unlike the previous map, this one is almost entirely focused on combat and the map is intended to have some teeth in it (the map is also shorter). I thought it would be useful to get some feedback on the combat, so that I don't end up making an entire megawad full of lackluster combat. Edit: Also sorry about the file size. Slade decided that it hates my guts today, so I just included all Otex textures.
  19. Thanks for the playthrough. Combat-wise I'm going easy on the player in this map (I made this simple map a while ago) and I'm aiming to amp things up gradually in this project. Though I suppose I can add a little bit more teeth to the map....
  20. Thanks for the video. I made couple of quick improvements to the map after having watched it.
  21. I have made few little changes to this map based on the feedback I have received: -I added additional health, armor and ammo pickups so the map should be little bit gentler -I removed the trigger for an unused script -I made small adjustments to the switch puzzle, hopefully it's now easier to understand
  22. I have completed RAMP 2023s metagame and I thought I should share my map recommendations. Note: these recommendations are based on my personal preferences and your mileage may vary. Also I have not played every map in the meg... gigawad so I most likely have missed some great maps. 006 - The Loose End By Handsome Fridge Length/Difficulty 5/3 A good looking map that makes a good use of lightning effects. Combat is solid as well. 070 - Rev vile and cyber spam: The map! By epicyolomaster420 Length/Difficulty 1/5 A neat little slaughtermap. 090 - Power Bomber By Chookum Length/Difficulty 2/4 Nice looking arena map with solid combat. 095 - Crimson Jet Keep By Heich AKA DynamiteKaitorn Length/Difficulty 2/5 Beautiful and explosive little map. 145 - Cold Storage By Space Grass Length/Difficulty 2/3 A frozen tech base that makes excellent use of lighting to create atmosphere. 163 - WOW This Looks Like a Great Place for Girls to Kiss By HiMyNameisChair Length/Difficulty 4/5 Gorgeous map with hectic combat. 171 - Fedenil Station By RobertF Length/Difficulty 3/3 A frantic map with a great layout and a banger of a midi. 181 - The Circle of Death By ONETAPPYBOI Length/Difficulty 2/5 A quick and fun slaughter map. 184 - Rockets From the Crypt By Rook Length/Difficulty 2/4 A nice little rocket launcher centric map. 194 - Deep Into The Machine By LVENdead Length/Difficulty 3/4 Awesome looking map with some great and tricky combat. 241 - The Haunted Mansion By The Box Length/Difficulty 6/4 A neat map that makes an extensive use of GzDoom features and the map almost feels like its own total conversion mod. 258 - One Doomed Marine By Osswald Length/Difficulty 3/4 A beautiful tech base map. Combat wise this map is for the most part rather chill, but it's still competent enough. 271 - Crumbling Castles By Lazlo Panaflex Length/Difficulty 5/3 A massive level with excellent visuals and few tricky encounters. 286 - Tiny Tangle By Rita Remton Length/Difficulty 3/5 A challenging map that makes a good use of scripting and 3d floors. 288 - Solar Outpost By ChippiHeppu Length/Difficulty 1/5 A beautiful little arena map. Combat can be frantic but the map isn't crushingly difficult. 293 - Trash Masters By HiRon Length/Difficulty 4/6 A slaughter map with a healthy amount of enemies and BFG ammo.

    Your Final Wad

Lost Civilization has been sitting on my "to do list" for a good while now. I guess an impending execution is a decent enough excuse to play it.
