Im not new to DooM. But i am new to the community. Im one of those guys whos been playing DooM games steadily for the past 10 years. Ive only recently tapped into the PC realm of DooM games. I have the warez version, to be honest, i thought thats all there was to the PC version. I thought it was an exclusive console game. I guess if i had done a little research i would have known, but finding the game how i did in the 1st place is what lead me to believe it was a warez only game for the PC. After registering here ive found that to be untrue. I cant believe the size of this community and everything in it. Ive been spending the past week or so reading tons of posts, especially the stories people write... good stuff guys. So tell me, how do i get into all this? I know the first thing i have to do is go and buy the games, but i see talk about all kinds of mods and new levels and whatnot. Whats the best mod out there, for which version of DooM? Where should i start when buying the game.. i want the mods. Ive played all the DooM games through and through dozens of times.. what do i need to get the mods people talk about here? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanx in advance :)

You all talk like to me like you assume i have done this before. I havnt. I told you all, i never knew about a pc version of doom, let alone a mod for it, or whatever you call it. What is a WAD? What are ports? How do i use them to play DooM? Like i said, i have a copy of DooM on my PC. But after finding this community, im attempting to go legit. I dont have the slightest idea what to do with the files so many of you told me to get. In a nutshell, all replies to my initial post are greek to me.

Ive seen a PC version with 666 levels in Electronics Botique.

I took the doom logo and layered it over the demon on doom3.com and than cut out the lettering to expose him in the background. Than i put that onto the imp pic and the face is there to give the "scared shitless" effect. Now that i look at it tho, it does look like the imp a lil bit. lol, good eye Demon Hunter.

Doom isnt always about small corridors. Theres some pretty huge wide open maps. Hopefully we will see some of the same in D3.
