  1. I thought I was going crazy not being able to find the sector light option. Especially since quite a few guides online still recommend using shaders, or suggest adjusting sector lighting for different WADs. I won't pretend to understand what the forced indexed light mode's overall impact on the long-term development of DSDA is (and I tried reading the explanation a couple of times lol), but it sounds like bascially fewer options = fewer bugs? As a casual gamer (not speedrunner or streamer), I did notice some difference in this new version, though it was hard to articulate what the actual difference is. Things just felt a little... off. Oh well, it's all rather beyond me. Maybe I will try using PrBoom+ instead and hope that there is some allowance in future builds. Still, many thanks for continuing to work and improve this source port!

    Doom 2 Recreation Project: Update

Pretty cool. Some bugs here and there, but I like the facelift overall actually. Really cool to see familiar settings with improved textures and some nice surprises and additions.
  3. Yep I do have mouselook on but blasting the floor beneath me doesn't really lift me up much. Now I'm wondering if it's a compat issue. I'll try to mess around a bit more. Thanks! EDIT - Ah I had compatibility set to Boom. So it only works on Default compat. Should have checked that. Zzz.
  4. Just discovered and played this. Fantastic stuff, but seems it's abandoned now... Sad that this doesn't seem to be worked on, but glad we have what we have now.
  5. +1 for You Have 1 HP. Not sure what category, but it's rather innovative and forces me to play Doom in a rather different way.
  6. I have no idea what to do for Rocket Man. Stuck on that level. Rocket jump? Doesn't seem to be able to get it to work for me.

    New map! criticism appricated!

Thanks for the map! Some of my comments: 1) Got tired of the midi really fast. It's not something that's suited to being looped. 2) I like the big, non-linear spaces, but they don't feel very cohesive. Like are they meant to be buildings? Tech-base? There wasn't an identity or something that hinted at a unifying theme. Didn't help there were some interesting design choices like the very steep staircase, the laaarge nukage pools, the cliffs with shotgunners posted, the dual staircases that have doors that aren't necessary. The random scattering of health and amor bonuses also make the whole map feel very bashed together and not really cohesive. 3) Ammo and weapon scarcity. I got rockets, cells, but no weapons to go with them. Bullets are expended too quickly with the chaingun so I had to punch revenants in the end. 4) Feel like there is great potential for this map to the kind that rewards exploration (like how going around the back of the Mancubus area shows you can kill them easily with barrels). More of such moments would be nice. Overall, a breezy big map that feels arbitrarily put together (if that was the intention). Ammo and weapon scarcity makes it harder than it needs to be but also takes away from some of the fun. Will be waiting to play the next version!
  8. I like this more than MyHouse.wad. Yes I mean it. My House was clever, but leans too much into the "ooh I want to be mysterious" side. But this... this is meaningful. Freaking well done @YourOpinionsAreWRONG.
  9. Ok ignore me. I got it working after editing the ini in gzdoom. EDIT - Played through the first two maps. Wow. Just wow. The visuals actually made me feel like I'm in a real tech base. Fantastic lighting in my opinion. The shotgun sounded a little anemic and the way the left arm seesm to be bent out of shape holding the shotgun bugged me. Now I wish every Doom map looked like this. Thank you for the hard work!

    [WIP] Dancing in the Abyss

Great to hear! Will be watching and waiting with anticipation. Thank you!
  11. How do I run this properly? I load it with GZDoom but instead of E1M1, it starts on Doom II's map 1. IDCLEV to the other maps also bring me to Doom II's maps. Weapons and sprites loaded properly, just that I'm not getting the correct levels. Help?

    [WIP] Dancing in the Abyss

Is this still being worked on?
  13. +1 to MyHouse.pk3 as well. The dedication of someone who spent a decade setting this wad up and then delivering on more than one can imagine... *chef's kiss*

The Official 'Trying to Find a Specific WAD' Thread

EDIT - Found it. it's Prodoomer. Definitely looked and played better in my memory than it is now. Or maybe I just got lousier as a player. Could be. Looking for a Doom 2 wad that had a scripted start where a Cyberdemon attacked a base, and you run inside it to escape. The base itself is a level hub which has sections that are blocked off till you complete certain missions first. There are also shops where you can buy weapons, upgrades and a firing range maybe? It's a bit RPG. I recall sections of the hub are marked out by giant towers with floating numbers or display (these would be the areas that are blocked off till the player completes certain levels, though I am not sure if I may be confusing two huds. Thank you!
