So a guy walks into the Doom forums and wants to play Doom, Doom II, Final Doom and Ultimate Doom all on a pc and all with the best graphics possible. Searching could take awhile even for a Doom fanatic much less the casual Doom gamer. Hook me up! What are the best patches for all of these games?

I want in Doom IV exactly what I wanted in Doom III, a rebiuld of the original Doom. Same maps, same monsters & same guns. The maps in the original Doom games were actually huge. It just so happens you could move very fast especially when running which made it possible to get through the maps so quickly. The levels & atmosphere were amazing in the original and I'm still eager to relive it. This includes all the original doom games as they were so similar.

Are you saying you can play psx Doom on the pc with ZDoom total conversion INCLUDING the psx music? If so I'd be all over this. PSX Doom was the climax of DOOM imho. The music really brought the game to life.

Is there any sort of cheat that will reveal hidden/secret areas in Ultimate Doom?

I just picked up a copy of Final Doom for pc at a pawn shop and I've decided I want to play it through for the first time in many many years. Trouble is that for me the absolute best doom experience is with the music from the playstation. What I would like to do is Replace the original pc midi music with the mp3 recordings I have of the playstation tracks. Is there a way to do this?

Hey thanks for the input everyone. I can't wait to try this out. I'm trying out some texture packs and other things and when I get everything set just perfectly then I'll be ready to play.

So I've decided I'm going to jump into final Doom today for the first time an a very long time. I'm in need of a high rez texture pack or something so the pixels don't kill me before the monsters do. Can someone save me some time and point me in the right direction please?

Did a search for Doom 64 TC and it does look pretty good. Much better than the psx version even. The addition of mist adds a great deal to the creepiness factor as well.

You know the levels from some of the maps on the psx version where the atmosphere was filled with flames? Can't recall the names just now...i think Mt Erebus & hell keep were a couple of them. Is anyone planning on reproducing these with the Doom3 engine? Or has anyone anywhere attempted this? I've been craving to play those levels for ages.

I'm getting some slowdown issues in doom3 but i can tell it's the drives and not the videocard that are lagging. I'm running in ultra mode so the standard "set image_useCache" isn't applicable. When i run the command "timedemo demo1 cache" on the same setting though it flies through it without any hiccups or studder and averages 37fps@1600x1200x2AA(ultra detail). If i can run the demo so smoothly with the cache command then there must be a way to smooth the gameplay out. System is dual seagate 80's @5400rpm -raid 0 array, ram is 1gb kingston valueram, 3200+ clawhammer, Leadtek 6800 GT 256mb. Anyone have any ideas?

Even so i bet we spend more $$$'s on gas then you. Amereicans tend to drive longer distances to and from work and in large gas hogs which don't in any way shape or form resemble the compact cars of the eastern nations. Here a 12 gallon tank is small. I'm just glad i'm no longer driving my 350 silverado. It had two 20 gallon tanks and could bleed them both dry in two weeks. That's $240 a month

To make a long story short... I uninstalled doom3 which was patched to 1.3 and tried to reinstall and now when i attempt to patch the game with 1.3 the installer says i already have the patch which i do not. I removed every single registry keu with the word "Doom" in it and still get the same response. This really sucks because now i can't play multiplayer as everyone else is using the 1.3 patch. If only i knew what all the reg values for the patch were?! Anyone have a clue how to fix this?

Nope it doesn't show up. Just says Doom 100.0000. Probably because i deleted all those reg keys.

Anyone know a way to play psx Doom with a mouse? I have one emulator, GSVideoPatchXP, but it doesn't allow for use with a mouse.

Well i couldn't nail it down to one experience. When i think of Doom i remember my first times playing it on the psx. My memories of playing the levels like limbo and the other levels with the flaming atmospheres and creepy music are far and away my most fond memories of any game since. That psx music is just incredible even to this day. On the pc it must have been in about 1997 when i bought my first badass machine(used 486dx2 w/640k ati graphics) and locked myself in my room for 36 hours doing nothing but drinking and playing the Doom demo.

The funny thing is i don't remember it like that. About once a year i fire it up and think to myself, "where the hell did all these chucky graphics come from?!". I remember it as a smooth walk through hell with exquisite graphics.
