Iridescent Shader and Tutorial for Damage Blurring

Alright well fixed bugs in the iridesecent shader causing its lookup to work incorrectly (forgot to swizzle the normals). Also have included a material shader showing how it could be used for oil (hehe bright corn oil or something I guess :P)
  2. Alright after finding out how stupid I can be sometimes (though did get useful info from Carmack) here is an iridescent shader (which basically changes color based on the angle you look at it). Later I will be making a demonstration of how to use it to make water look oily. http://www.geocities.com/cryect/shaders.html And here's a link to my tutorial on how to get the edges of the screen to blur while the center of the screen stays sharp as you health goes down. http://www.geocities.com/cryect/damageblur.html Edit: Oh and for those wondering about the info I got from Carmack here it is below Edit: Fixed bugs with the shader

    New Fragment Shader Effects

Well another shader of questionable use but can be of interest though. A wireframe shader to be specific. http://www.geocities.com/cryect/shaders.html

    New Fragment Shader Effects

Figure I would let some people here know about some fragment shader effects I developed for use in Doom 3. Basically, I've developed a blur filter, sharpen filter, edge detection, and a texture swirl shader(based off of the heathaze one). How useful they are remains to be seen, but I'm sure someone can come up with some creative ideas for them (I've got some ideas for using my edge detection effect myself). http://www.geocities.com/cryect/shaders.html

    Flamethrower Mod 0.3

Alright if you want increase the speed of the chaingun you can change it in weapon_chaingun.script looking for the below line #define CHAINGUN_FIRE_SKIPFRAMES 7 Change 7 to say 1 and that should be quadruple the speed about. The ammo amount it holds is controlled in weapon_chaingun.def and there look for the line below. "clipSize" "60" Then you can change 60 to whatever you want.

    Flamethrower Mod 0.3

Just posting information on the lastest version of my flamethrower mod. I fixed the sound looping issue from earlier versions. Also changed it so the flames should shoot out as a cone. http://www.geocities.com/cryect/flamethrower.html

Hehe, I'm the author of that mod btw ;)

    flashlight comment

There isn't a way to be able to disable the flashlight on a weapon at this moment. Most the mods they don't really change anything worth bothering with anyways (most them seem to make the weapons stronger which if you dislike lighting up the area it would seem you prolly would dislike this as well). I'm fairly adamant against them as well for any multiplayer playing as well.

    Doom 3 SDK

The def files are fairly limiting unless you are looking for minor tweaks (ex. minor weapon changes) In some ways you can do more major things with changing shaders (such as a so-so cell shader replacing the current light shader). But really can't do much at the moment.

    Duct Tape Mod

Try going to third person mode and seeing if you can see the shadow from the flashlight (pm_thirdperson 1). It can be really hard to see the shadows from the flashlight though due to it being centered almost at the center of your view (hence most the shadows are hidden behind objects you can see). Basically as long as you don't have shadows disabled (and if you have shadows disabled any of the weapon mods which add a flashlight won't have shadows either).

    Duct Tape Mod

It does.... Its getting strange how I've seen several people who don't seem to notice that the flashlight casts shadows as well.
  15. Hehe okay, I was just curious on your definations. I agree with you its a weapon mod but you were making it sound like the only thing that is a real mod is if it has both maps and weapons. I call that a partial conversion myself (and total conversion with massive changes). Good maps are ********ly(why is d-e-f-i-n-a-t-e censored?) going to take time to come out and so far there isn't much to do with modding currently besides making new weapons and some various modifications to AI characters. Hopefully with the SDK release we get the source code to the gamex86.dll (because I feel like making a pinball, pong, pacman (hmmm that would be interesting PacMan with guns to shoot the zombies as you run around), or some other completely different game inside of Doom 3).
