  1. So basically, on Tuesday at 4:15 to 5:15 PM, some guy came in to the every-2-weeks class rep meeting to hold a forum type thing on homosexuality and the way it's treated in the school. He had everyone fill out a survey, NOT on their opinions of homosexuality, but on what they observed.

Anyway, they found that the Kelsey campus in Saskatoon seemed to have higher homosexuality-intolerance numbers than the other three SIAST campuses. For example, I know that in the computer program, it's almost a complete 180 from the Nursing program (just down the hall) in terms of how the word "gay" is thrown around.

They also talked about the origins of the words "fag" and "faggot." Basically, "fag" in Europe might mean "cigarette." And in old times, "faggot" means pile of sticks. So why are they considered obscene? Well, what do homosexuals, cigarettes, and sticks have in common? Yep, that's right. People burned them.

People who carelessly use the word "gay" as a synonym for "stupid" are morons. Likewise, people who throw around the word "fag" are comparable idiots.

What do DN and a cigarette have in common? They both leave a putrid stain on my two fingers.
