    Community Chest 3 Released

I think this is easily the best of the three in terms of the overall quality of the levels. The only major gripe I have, which will probably always be an issue in a community megawad like this, is the lack of continuity and theme. Next time, maybe there could be some sort of guidelines for map slots as far as style and difficulty and whatnot.

    1-18-08 (Project Cloverfield)

Yeah, the Stephen King novella indeed. It just came out in theaters in the U.S. on Wednesday, and it fucking ruled.

    1-18-08 (Project Cloverfield)

Yeah this definitely looks like something I'd go to see. Probably not as incredible as The Mist, which was fucking awesome, but cool nonetheless.

    Do you hunt?

One of my favorite Ray Bradbury tales. Good reference.

    Do you hunt?

Where's the "I'm a lifelong urbanite who just doesn't get a thrill out of killing living things" option?

    Halloween thread

Oh man, great fucking costume. Pyramid Head is one of the creepiest fictional things I've ever seen, and I'm not easily scared by fictional things.

    Halloween thread

I like how for everyone between the ages of like, 17 and 30, Halloween is actually the Saturday before October 31, and October 31 is just another stupid day. For example, the amount of times I heard on Monday, "Man, I got so hammered on Halloween," even though Monday was 2 full days before October 31.

I wasn't. I took it out of my pocket to wrestle some kid and when I turned around someone was using the table I had put it on as a chamber pot :X

    Halloween thread

My school is renowned for its Halloween celebrations, and for good reason I discovered last night. At some point during the debauchery, someone threw up on my phone. And astonishingly, it wasn't me.

    Odd question for you???

Yeah, that's exactly what he is. Supposedly they have one the highest capacities for vocabulary among the species of parrots, but so far he isn't really showing it. Although he has picked up on some interesting nuances, like whenever the phone rings he'll start saying "hello?" before anyone even picks it up.

    Odd question for you???

I have 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 parrots. Abby (dog) and the recently deceased Brendan. Abby is my absolute favorite. She was found in a bad neighborhood when she was just a few weeks old with a rubber band around her neck that had become ingrained in her skin as she grew so that it had to be surgically removed. She's got a little bit of pit bull in her, so we think she was being trained to fight and either ran away or was left in the street. But she's got the sweetest disposition ever. Laurel. She's like 16 years old, and only leaves our basement at night. Her name is derived from the fact that we found her at a retreat center in Laurelville, PA, in the foothills of the Appalachians. Yeats. This cat is two years old I think, and he's absolutely insane. Isabeau. Named after the protagonist in Lady Hawke. This bird completely hates me for some reason and whenever I'm home it goes out of its way to come after me and attack me. Percival. Named after my grandfather. Much nicer to me than the other bird. Don't have a picture of my other dog.

    New Star Trek movie....OMG!

Well see I'm not a trekkie or anything, so that wasn't really an issue for me.

I go to college, and Halloween is the high holy day of colleges everywhere.
  15. Has anyone else heard about this? Jonny Greenwood showed up on the band's blog a couple of nights ago and announced that their long-awaited 7th LP, titled "In Rainbows," would be released in 10 days via the band's official website. There are two formats, a special edition discbox that includes the LP on both CD and vinyl, a bonus disc of eight new studio tracks, artwork, and a lyrics booklet. This costs forty pounds and ships in December. For the download version, however, which only consists of the ten-track LP, Radiohead is allowing customers to name their own price. Literally, you can choose to pay nothing if you want. Pretty awesome, and just about unprecedented. I've been fucking pumped for this album since I heard them play a bunch of the new material live in Philly last summer.
  16. Man, they could make six more of these and I'd never get tired of them. Still one of my favorite game franchises ever.
  17. I was listening to this almost non-stop in the weeks leading up to the release. Was kind of pissed that "Videotape" never hit the awesome climax that it does in all the live performances, but that's my only real complaint about the album.

    Super Smash Bros. Brawl

I have never found anyone capable of beating me on a regular basis in Melee if I am playing as Samus. Challengers, step forward.
  19. holy fucking shit DOES. NOT. DISAPPOINT.

How do you feel about the celebrity news?

Oh wow she's actually beginning to approach a healthy body weight.
  21. Oh, and while we're posting links, this TIME article is a nice read, especially the parts about the reaction from record companies.
  22. I think you will. The band admittedly rushed through the recording of HttT, but not this time. Some of these songs have had live incarnations going as far back as 1998, and they had almost all of these songs at least fleshed out by the time they'd finished their tour at the end of last August. Since then, they've pretty much spent all of their time in various studios. Knowing most of the songs already, I think this could end up being my favorite of their seven studio LPs.
  23. The public reaction was that, because of its radio popularity, it was the only song that the general masses knew and/or wanted to hear. They hated that people would go to their shows (this was before tickets to see them would sell out in seconds, mind you) just to hear "Creep." They hated that the song basically defined the band in the eyes of the public.
  24. I wouldn't quite say that. Thom isn't thrilled that it's all many people know the band for, which is understandable given how far the group has come since 1992, when the song was released. They rarely play it live anymore because it got to the point where Thom would just hold the mic out and let the audience sing literally the entire song. They've hardly "disassociated" themselves from it, though. This is from the Wikipedia article on the song: It's not the song they hate, but rather the reaction it's gotten from the public.
  25. The new album isn't available for another week, but my favorites from the tracklist that I heard live are "Nude," "Videotape," and "House of Cards." But if you've only heard "Creep," you would probably be better off getting the rest of their discography first, in chronological order. That was their first single and they've evolved a ton since then. Every album has had a different sound to it. I'd even be willing to set up a YSI or something if you don't have other means to getting it cheaply.
