Automap - How often do you use it

Everytime I got lost I open it. It helps me find which part of the map is half explored so I should go there.

    Twitter is rebranding to X

If goverement enforces bad laws or repressive ones (like this) we can (and should) be against it, or at least not support this. Examples of this you can find it throught our whole history. I couldgo on, but I know your kind: less than 1/3 of your post about this issue and the rest was just "I HATE ELON". I really dont know what he did that people hated him so much, but i wont botter to ask idc about retarded answers. He was the hero of internet until media decided he was not wanted. And before anyone ask, I dont care about him: cool what he has done for Twitter, but Im not dumb enough to eat propaganda, so I know when he made stupid moves. My problem is that if the situation were reverse with elon/X/Twitter/whatever would have banned or pulled out of countries and you guys would be crying and demanding his head (mmm... almost just like now). Which is kind of sad becase it proves once more that if you put a good narrative and a hated character, people will follow everything, even if this goes against their own values

Do people actually PLAY the mods or maps you make?

ngl, this was one thing that put me off when I was modding when I was a kid in the 2000s. I constantly though "Why should I put all my effort if no one will see it?" the answer to that, imo, is that is not necessary. Modding is power by only passion, sometimes to share to your friends, sometimes to post and got no one to play it. regardless you will gain experience, you will get better and best stuff will come out. You will also get ambitious and your project will come in better shape and be bigger thanks to you hard earned experience. It is like digital artists/web comic authors: you always start displaying your stuff to no one, until you produce that piece of work that helps you do the jump. How not to lose your motivation? Because is fun. That what all people that work in these stuff do it stuff: they enjoy it. So keep working on it

    Twitter is rebranding to X

Totally a shitty move on the brazilian goverment You can hate or love Elon all that you want, but banning platform because it didnt comply with the government is a bad, but (as recorded on the BBC article) not the first time they try to control/make information hubs respond to them. Now and just in case someone is not aware of this, Brazil is not well known because of their "clean" government. In fact the current president was in prison for corruption and got bailed out by it friends

Doom feels too fast for me now.

Maybe change the map Some maps are more slow and require more planning on cleaning rooms Also, reduce the difficulty. I recently started a new run of DooM 1 and 2, and just choose Hurt me plenty because I dont have much time, so I dont want to stay on this run for too much time.
  6. If you have to glitch enemies/the level to finish it I think it is bad design, regardless of the difficulty. On the other side, some encounters required you to already died at it once before you can succeed because of its traps, im not a fan of those either. Some part of Sigil 1 were like that and I though it was just unfair design. That doesnt mean a good challenge where you have to try different tactics cant be fun, at the contrary those are great! It gives a feeling of pride an accomplishment (not in the EA definition) when you beat them. In short, and imo, just be fair on the challenge. A difficult, but fair challenge is usually saw as a good thing

    Doom lost

Declarations like these are certainly a quake in the gaming world You cant just go there claimin DooM is doomed

Is Hugo Martin secretly a genius??

You dont have to be a genious to be great, you have to be around them and managed them correctly. Just look at Romero and Daikatana (between many others devs that where genious but failed to managed its resources and people correctly). I dont think the guy is a genious, but he certainly know its craft, we still hace to see TDA, but my hopes are high

Does anyone else wish the Doom Slayer was gender neutral?

What? No, why? The Doomslayer is a guy, and nothing wrong with it. There are female badass character like the previously mentioned Samus, and nobody wish it is a dude or that someone take part of its identity as a female heavy armor ass kicking mercenary. The same applies for the DoomSlayer

Is playing DOOM really better on PC?

Having Mods is always a great plus. Also there is an eternal catalog of small games, old games, indie/fanmade games that will be forever on PC. The main catch is that mostly is just digital (in case you care about this). About the "correct way"... there isnt any. Play as you want and can play, anyone telling you otherwise aint worth listening to. And thankfully we are not in the 90s-mid 2000 where console ports where just butchered version of the PC games. So pick what you want, saving for a PC is a big task but it is nice (it has its ups and downs ofc) but if you prefer a PS5 then go for it. DooM TDA is going multiplatform and so far, all versions are the same (as far as we know)

Which games are you waiting for ?

  12. Companies have been in the modding community for years now in forms like Steam Workshop. The fear of them screwing the mod scene is not unreasonable, it is Bethesda and Microsoft, the first one already tried to charge money for mods and the later have a record of ruining stuff. Still, these places existed because of communities like us, way before companies have a big online presence. They (or other platforms like Nexus, ModDB, Game Banana, etc) can try to censor/control/monetize all what they want, but we created this spaces from nothing and we can still do it again. Now in the case of this recent DooM re-re-re-release (it this the 3rd time, right (of this specific port)?) is an entirely different scene from what we have here, is way more similar to the OG style of DooM, in comparison with mods that transform the game into Call OF Duty, Five Nights at Freddys, a tactical FPS, a random roulette game, Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil Mercenaries, even (i see it recently) a third person melee brawler! But my overall feeling is positive: it can work as a first approach to many to the DooM modding community. No need to get a source port, extract the wad from your game, configurate the source port or install a mod launcher... Just select, download and play. So hopefully someone will make a killer of mod/TC that is compatible with this new port, it goes viral, and many people jump into DooM

    Doom 3's 20th anniversary.

Happy (late) birthday to a beast. I really like it and remember trying to getting to run on my toaster for months, 26 fps was my best. Still I managed to finish it years later, it was really good.
  14. Great idea! And thanks to everyone related for your effort. Keeping a list is no small task

    The Doom movie wasn't bad

I really liked it too. A far cry and many DooM and demon references (iirc) were lost for whatever reason. But not a bad movie at all, if it where released this year it might even got a good reception. And yes, the bonus content and other files where really cool. I remember one where they showed the Xbox port of DooM 3 and talked about the game, I think Carmak was there as well.
