Category 1 UV Port: DSDA Survived in 54:50 (did not find the secret level) So I took my time, but I did the thing, yay! This was indeed not too difficult, lots of space to move around, lots of fights where I justed waited for the monsters to get it over with (hence the bad time...). sophil_wolfgun.zip -

Map 01 - Unresolved Business Yeah, this WAD looks like good old tech base fun. Run around, shoot stuff, get enough ammo, get armor, I like it. As much as I appreciated Abscission, at the end the harder levels where you did not receive armor whatsoever did not agree me with me anymore. I started saving just to make some progress. This looks like a completely different approach, a welcome change. I mean of course the later levels will become harder, but lets see.. Map 02 - The Barracks Concentrate on the hitscanners, take out everything else later on, there is plenty of space here. The map is so open that I get lost all the time. Not a big fan of fake exits, I run around looking for missing secrets and monsters, but no the exit is not the exit. I guess I'll learn how to push the rewind button, which I actually am trying to avoid. But overall fun map, traps are benign, you have space and can just leave. Good midi! Map 03 - Waterworks Also fun. Again you get everything you need, the secrets are easy to find and help a lot. Once you have the plasma it's pretty much over. I enjoy this so far, I already played ahead... -

MAP21: Of Flesh & Fission Again no armor, but you can travel back to the central health supply. At least at first, later on you need to survive several fights, the Hell Knight / Chaingunner ambush can get tricky. I like the abstract architecture here. In my opinion abstract is hard to do right and this map does a fine job. MAP22: Mausoleum What's up with the floating hell knight and how do I get the rocket launcher? It is not a secret but it remained a secret for me. I'm not a huge fan of close quarter combat with chaingunners I have to tell you. But thanks for the plasma, I did not have to punch out the baron. I like the concept of the secrets with the light switch, what I liked less is that the path is still slime. Why does it not hurt? MAP23: Hazard Pay Fun with barrels huh?! The beginning can be fun indeed when you time it right. When not you can be dead very quickly. I like the placement of the arachnotrons here, each time you kill one, another one shoots at you, have fun dodging. The spider mama at the end is just more work, at that time there's plenty of ammo so no problems here. Why is the megasphere a secret? This area is always accessible? Among all the hellscape suddenly there's an office with cubicles where the monster stash my ammo.. Hell Office Space.. -

MAP19: Phospene Another level for the aficionado of the berserk with a cyberdemon at the end which I'm happy to shotgun as this is the most consistent for me anyway. I notice there are very few mid-tier enenemies in this map, especially given the advanced map slot. MAP20: To Heiron This is basically a pacifist level. Run around until everything is dead, kill the remaining stuff. As long as you stay on the path and avoid the sludge it's not too hard even though there are two cybers, pain elementals and archviles. Not too mention the spider which fortunately can be taken out quickly with the BFG right next to it. -

MAP18 - Elder Shrine Less tech more hell, with just enough resources to deal with it all. Once you survive the shotgunners/pinkie ambush and find the plasma you should be fine. I did not find the BFG though. The lights are going out again.. -

MAP17: Predation I'll tell you what I did with the Cyberdemon after he got me the first twenty runs. I went to the area with the s-shaped narrow downward steps. I waited until he teleported, then jumped down into the slime and teleported back. The teleporter brings you to the main hub, I could deal with the other areas then without the cyberdemon bullying me. How peaceful! Eventually I took him down with some plasma and the shotgun, which I'm wondering if that was intended? The secrets don't help much with ammo either, found them both. -

Map 16: Cold Ascent Pistol start, UV. Finally I can see again! This is a fun map, I managed the final fight by hiding in the BFG room and letting them come to me. With some infighting I had just enough ammo. Felt a bit like cheesing or was it just a good strategy? I don't know, but finished this, all kills, moving on... -

Map 32: Bed of Creation What is this? I just got zapped enough in Map 31, I'm not gonna glitch AND get zapped. Moving on (but kudos for designing a map around a glitch, I appreciate the creativity!) -

Map 31: Reanimator Pistol start, UV... Blind first try, lol! Well not exactly. How many times did you die there? I guess once you find the rhythm of hiding and get all the archies to target the cybers it's somewhat consistent.. finally I made it through, then I noticed I did not find the super secret exit. OMG. Should I go again? I'm not sure, I'm not super fond of getting zapped in pitch black darkness... On the other hand it is only 3 minutes...
