I just joined a Paintball League. I didn't know such a thing existed, but I was at my town's website and I saw an ad for it in the classifieds. League admintion is only $15 because I entered half-way in the season (I wouldn't want to play it in the freezing Canadian April weather anyway). All the equipment is free, all I have to pay for is the paint! This is absolutely awesome!
'Only thing is, I've never played Paintball before. I always hear how much getting hit stings, and I have seen the welts they tend to leave on people. I'd like think I have a somewhat high endurance to pain, but I'd like to know what I'm in store for. Has anyone else here played Paintball? Can you compare being shot with one (on exposed skin and not exposed) to something more modern?

I got shot in the forehead once. It left a nice welt.
The game is fun when you play in the woods and treat it more like a real battle then a game. I think it would kick ass playing a game of about 10 people on each side over the course of 24 hours or longer in a large stretch of woods so you not only have to worry about the enemy but also food, sleep, shelter, and finding the enemy. This would add a taste of adventure to the game and make it more challenging. Also, in the end you'll probably have some cool "war stories" to share.
That sounds fun as hell
