  1. Seeing this released today was a big surprise, congratulations on the release! I'm looking forward to playing this! :D
  2. That may end up being only relevant in billboard and movie theater applications.

Why don't usb to ide/sata adapters exist?

I doubt if a "dumb" PATA -> USB exists. PATA is a parallel interface and USB is serial. Any such cable would need some sort of micro controller in the middle.
  4. I'm being excesively nit-picky here, but 1280x1024 is 5:4 1920x1080 is sticking around so long as a 'standard' resolution is likely because most HD media is in 1080p so providing larger resolutions like 2560x1440 doesn't provide much extra value to those who are using their screens mostly for consuming media. 3840x2160 (4K) is likely to be the next stepping stone. I don't think the future of screens after that will be in higher resolutions but in better pixel quality as 4k is pushing the limits of what the human eye can actually see. edit I'd also like to put this here

Why don't usb to ide/sata adapters exist?

I don't remember there being a 20 pin IDE cable for anything. All I remember is 40/80 pin PATA and 34 pin Floppy This is likely to just allow you to attach 2 USB 3.0 ports from a motherboard to a remote place in the case with a IDE cable, not as a conversion from PATA to USB.

post overpowered but fun monster ideas

Making it as a sort of bomb left behind by an enemy that clearly blinks and makes sound should be enough to balance it. It wouldn't be much more threatening than an archvile attack. Definitely overpowered for the deaf and colorblind!

    The Doom Confessional Booth

I believe that this sort of feedback is important because it allows for open discussion which can help weed out faulty advice like those examples you listed. This should also allow for a consensus which should be better than the sum of the parts. Of course this depends on if there is a healthy discussion going on as opposed to the sort where people defend their opinions without considering that other people's opinions have some merit as well as their own.
  8. ESDF for basic movement, A - Jump W/R for fly down / up When going fully keyboard, all above + Left / Right keys for look left/right Up for shoot Down for alt fire or 180 turn depending on port ESDF feels more natural than WASD.

What's the best file sharing service?

I've been using google drive for sharing 'unofficial' versions of maps, but it should be stressed that finished maps that you do wish to share, should go into the idgames archive.

    Most recent movie you saw

I watched "Secret Life of Pets" and "Brother's Grimsby" I honestly liked Secret life of pets more, but Brothers Grimsby wasn't a worthless watch either.

Why don't usb to ide/sata adapters exist?

They do exist. They exist in the bare cable form, where you can attach an external drive to a USB port (such as when you are recovering files from a failed laptop) https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=sata+to+USB They also exist in the hard drive enclosure form. There are laptop drive size (2.5") and desktop drive size (3.5") enclosures https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=hard+drive+enclosure&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Ahard+drive+enclosure I'm using an enclosure to provide extra storage to go with my Xbox Ones' lame onboard 500GB. *edit* I know I only covered USB -> SATA, but USB -> IDE does exist as well I just found this: https://www.amazon.com/C2G-Cables-30504-Serial-Adapter/dp/B000UO6C5S/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1469628096&sr=8-6&keywords=usb+to+IDE You are on your own to provide power though (molex).

Who do you rely on for reviews?

This applies to me as well as likely most people, but the most important reviewers are those who are close to me, like family or close friends. I can see reviews of a game, movie, or whatever else all day long, but if a friend comes up to me and says "Try it out, I think you'll like it!" I'll probably end up trying it. It also makes sense, because if you end up liking something or not depends as much on subjective matters like "Do I like this genre?" as it depends on objective matters like "Is it stale and unoriginal?". The people closest to you know what you like and don't like and are able to make a subjective review to you while more "professional" reviewers are making objective reviews that aren't personalized.
  13. I moved the RL to the blue key room, threw in a few rockets, and added 4 revenants to go with the cacodemons + lost souls. I also marked the green armor as the sole secret in the map. I didn't encounter that in my testing but you did bring up a good point. I marked the pillars as monster blocking so the imps won't slide away. I totally missed that, I went and tested it in prboom and also took some screenshots. http://imgur.com/gallery/aY4Y2 Link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6h9iaeruLvETDIyMGE3UGU4c00
  14. I found a few issues which I fixed *) Missing lower textures in red skull area *) Added dummy sector to apply sky changes (that follows 64px rules!) *) Changed some missed placeholder textures to marble in cathedral by doors Updated Version https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6h9iaeruLvEY3B6V2JyZFJFVlU
  15. Just heard about this today so I thought I'd try and put a submission in. I put this together in about 3-4 hours. The music from MAP19 in CC4 works well for this one. I'd call it "Blood Cathedral" Tested with ZDoom. Has 4p coop starts + has some deathmatch starts. BFG can break balance at end, put it before BFG appears?
