  1. I am still here, still breathing and still staying busy. 2014 was definitely the year of 're-adjusting'. With the majority of my worries and problems finally behind me, a new goal to focus on and future contract work with NightDive Studios, I can definitely predict lots of potential this year.

      Odd question ;

It can get a bit weird to have multiple people using the same nickname, for years on hold if needed without them ever crossing each other. :)

  2. 2014 has been considered a fresh start for me. New career, new hobbies, and new goals. I really don't have much to say. In fact, I barely say anything anymore. I've always been quiet even during childhood and in fact some even said that I might have aspergers (which probably explains my social anxiety as well). Whatever issues I may have, I've learned to accept it and be who I am instead of pretending just to impress others.

And here's something that caught me completely off-guard, I've been asked to answer a few questions for a gaming article. Basically I talk about my hobbies, Doom, and more Doom. You can read about it here.

  3. Dunno what to do today. I am hoping to do something special for my 30th birthday but I think I am just going to drink instead. But here I am, 30, still single and still no clear idea of what I want to do for my long-term goals. I've always been going with the flow and where ever it takes me but I think its time that I try to get on a fixed path instead. This is going to be a interesting year.

Off to buy a new one at Fry's and get Windows 7 while I am at it. I've noticed Western Digital has been sucking a lot lately. My 5-year old Seagate HDD, used as a secondary drive, is still alive and kicking and performing just like when it was brand new.

Quite a lot of shit. For example, they include variable spindle speeds which are just prime lag/delay causes, and a head crash disaster waiting to happen. Also, since they are lower performance to begin with, they are made with higher tolerance/lower grade components.

OK, some server nut or DBA might tell you that ALL "consumer grade" bargain-priced SATA hard disks are enormous pieces of steaming dung and horse shit compared to "server grade", full-price SCSI hard disks, and they'd be mostly right. Well, "green" HDs rank even lower than said shitty, consumer grade disks ;-)

  5. Okay, so I am a day late. Sue me.

So its been a year living on my own now and I am loving it... sometimes. Last year was a really weird year for me as it was the first time I've been frequently socializing and actually been in a relationship. Made a couple of new friends since then and I am looking forward to meeting new people this year.

Relocating has been on my mind a lot this year and I just may take this new job opportunity in Austin... even though I fucking HATE Austin. Though I still doubt my future career goals and been thinking of trying something new. For a while now I've been having ideas of running a restaurant or a shop. I can sense this year being a another weird year for me..

  7. This year is already shaping up to be a good one so far. Moving was the biggest thing I've done so far and its been the best decision I've ever made. There is still doubt about my future though as I have yet to fully decide about my permanent career, but who knows what will happen but I sense good things coming forth soon.

My involvement with the Doom community continues to be minimum with the exception of the Doom64ex and Chocolate Strife projects but as far as mapping goes, I am done. However I had the plan of doing a 'kaiser' anthology megawad that ranges from the DSV/Kaiser series to community chest1/2 wads but I could never decide when it would be a good time to do it but since I am going on 10 years at Doomworld now, I figured what the hell...

So what will I do today for my birthday? Probably nothing...

  8. After many adventures with Newdoom, Doom3Files, Startan3, and MySitePages, I now have settled with a decent place to host my site/blog in regards to personal projects and stuff.

    http://villsa.wordpress.com/

Hopfully, this host will not delete my website for no reason whatsoever.

So basically the blog will be updated with news and status on things like Doom64EX, the Nintendo DS port, maps, and other things that I may be working on.

So for those who like to spam my emails (thats right, emailsss) with questions like WHATS THE STATUS ON <insert whatever here> etc, then my blog is the place to go. Anything new or whatnot that I've done will be posted on the blog as well as any personal rants, bitching and moaning that I feel like posting.

  9. Birthday.. hurr

Every year I am starting to feel more like the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons. I am quickly approaching 30, and I will probably still end up living in my parent's basement talking about a ~15 year old game on IRC. I never thought I say this but I wish I could raise a family of my own. I seriously need to do something else other than work, sleep and Doom64 Doom. However, because that I am anti-social, its pretty difficult for me to do anything else other than what I am doing right now.

I am running into a situation where I don't know what to do with my life. My future goals is still unclear as I have yet to decide on a permanent career that I can persue. But at least I am still working and not living as a bum.

My involvement with the Doom community is slowly coming to an end which means less map releases for Doom1/2. CIF3 was probably the only wad that I released in 2008 and there probably won't be any wads this year with the exception of programming related projects.

Here's to another miserable and lonely year.

  12. Recently this month, I just completed my two year course and will be picking up my degree in Information Technology later this month.

I didn't decide to walk on stage and do all this other stupid crap just to get a piece of paper. It was actually worth skipping that as I had more time to focus on other things like work and sleep.. and more work.

To be honest, I never really wanted to study IT. In fact, I hate that career. Too bad the school tricked me into signing up for the course though, as I really wanted to study in Computer Science but the school dropped the course and switched me over to IT just right as I signed up... heh.

Despite of that, I did gain some experience out of it.. like you will always receive angry phone calls from people who don't know how to turn on a monitor. Maintaining a network sounds a lot of fun too, especially when it goes down and you got 50 or so people bitching day and night about it.

I am not even going to bother thinking about applying for IT jobs that thousands of other people with 4-year degrees are applying for...
I really hate this competitive bs..

  14. Now that I am mid way though the CNS course at ITT-Tech, I have realized that I've gained much more knowledge and skills (spelling don't count lolz) in the field and has opened up my interests to many more things.

I recently took the time to look into databases, mysql and PHP. I recently purchased some books on Apache and other PHP/mysql materials and since then, I quickly got the hang of knowing how things work. Pretty exciting stuff though.

One of the recent classes were Cisco certifications and fundamentals. Really neat stuff, especially since I had the chance to play around with packet sniffers and working with switches/routers. One of the projects was to create a layout of a company and present yourself to the client on the network layout for the building. Unfortunately, I had to use MS Visio to design the building layout.

What sucks at ITT-Tech is that they are very anti-programming. They dropped many programming courses due to many students failing and suing the school for the lack of 'knowledge' from these courses.. so now all we got is Visual Basic for only one quarter. Other classes like Database development and Linux are completely useless now that programming courses has been taken out. Which leaves some of us (make that two in the whole school) to self teach ourselves Apache, C#/++, html, and php. Thanks to our new shitty director, even more classes/subjects are going to be dropped, leaving us with just the bare bones of each course. Even html coding has been taken out now. Its gotten up the point where one of the linux classes are devoted ONLY to learning and understanding how to use the VI editor.

Although I should of gone to a university, having to speak with a instructor face to face makes it worth it. (Sometimes)

I am still heavily involved in the open source community and most recently I've been looking into many free fps games, most noticeably Open Arena. Being a huge enemy of Quake 3, (not to mention the Quake3World community.. bastards) I found Open Arena to be very promising and a refreshment to the bs games thats out today.

Since the sudden fuckover by Wmull at Newdoom and at D3Files when my website(s) got deleted, I started another website.. sorta a mix between doom projects and personal stuff like blogs and whatnot. The new site is not completely done but I plan on improving the layout soon. I've observed several sites at http://www.oswd.org/ and was amazed at some of the designs of these websites. Some of the designs though helped me to learn whats good and whats not good when making a site. But anyways anyone interested in checking out my crappy site, you can view it at http://kaiser.dmclub.org. I do would like to hear feedback or suggestions to make it look less retarded.

Yesterday has difficult as I had to leave my job. I've grown so use to everyone and from there I've gained a lot of experience and social skills. But fortunately I've managed to find another company where I can continue to advance. But hopefully, I can have the opportunity to return to my previous job in the future once positions are open again.

Who reads these stupid blogs anyways?

  16. Yesterday I got home and connected my cable modem and pluged in my ethernet cables and turned on the PC, just to find that AVG caught a Trojan Downloader Small 45.Y in my WINNT folder. It infected wsock32.dll. I didn't know what other choice I had but to move it to the virus vault. After it was moved the computer rebooted..

And now after the windows splash screen, the computer reboots by itself before the mouse cursor appears. Yay

I go into safe mode and noticed that AVG didn't move the virus to the vault. Instead I delete it. AVG deletes it, but after reboot the virus and the wsock32.dll still resides in /WINNT..

After scanning with AVG again I noticed that the Master Boot Record is damaged. Yay.

I dug up my backup hard drive and connected it as master and my current hard drive as slave. The computer rebooted right after the windows splash screen. My backup hard drive is now infected and its Master Boot Record got deleted. Yay

Seeing that all my doom, maps, porn, documents, and my backup files are in danger I had no other choice but to network my laptop to the PC and transfer my files from there.

My Laptop is now infected. YAY and it won't start up due to a deleted MBR.

All I have left is a USB drive that stores 4gb. Its going to take 5 hours to transfer only 30% of my files. My Laptop is recovered as well which will hold my files until I nuke the PC and restore it. I am guessing you're wondering why I am still here.. I am posting in safe mode lawl.
And now since all four of my back up drives are dead, its time to format them and experiment with Kubuntu...

The moral of the story is. AVG sucks.

  18. I can replace burnt capacitor's on a motherboard, I can quickly swap new processors, I troubleshoot the worst dilemma in corrupt registry files, but I cannot setup a freakin simple network connetion between my computer and my laptop.

I just got a new laptop for xmas and I was planning on copying some of my doom stuff on to the laptop..feeling too lazy to burn my files to a cd, I decided to set them up as a network and just transfer the files like that. So I bought some ethernet cables, and a NetGear Ethernet Hub.

I connected both the laptop and my desktop to the hub. In the desktop's network places, I went in 'Computers Near Me' folder and I saw the name of my laptop in the folder. I tried getting access to my laptop but got an error saying address is not set up.

I would go on about all the things I tried doing to get this to work but I am too lazy to explain any further. So I was wondering if anyone with good networking knowledge can help me out here. Pretty much all I am trying to do is just share files between my laptop and my pc.

    Specs:
Desktop - Windows 2000, ethernet adapter.
Laptop - Sony Vaio with wireless lan and Bluetooth functionality. (I was assuming I could set it up with cables since there's an ethernet port), windows xp home

Mucho gracias to anyone who can help.

I was in the process of electroplating some wafers until this one engineer stood behind me. This guy knows that having people stand behind my back starting at me makes me nervious to hell..so he calls 4 more engineers to monitor my moves. Here I am fumbling with the wafers, nervious to hell, and I drop one of the wafers into the chemical tank, then one of the engineers shouted YOU FAIL IT! YOUR SKILL IS NOT ENOUGH!!
