Meh, a lot of people nowadays go to sleep way after 00:00 so I'm not sure if the day/night cycle is still very relevant. Especially since it also kinda depends on summer\winter.

Yes, and just because "a lot" of people do means we should stop accounting for those who don't? I guarantee there are equally as many people who go to sleep before that time. Moreover it's irrelevant - time zones exist to represent local time based on how the sun rises and sets in that particular region - it helps determine sleep cycles and daily eating routines.

And as Coopersville said there already exists UTC. Is it so hard to get your friends organized around a UTC time?

  2. I went to an Episcopal church growing up, stopped attending mass somewhere in early high school when they changed the pastor and found her not nearly as engaging or educational about life and connections with God. Beyond that my parents encouraged me to find my own personal connection with God. Safe to say I believe God exists and am Christian, and I have prayed on more than one occasion (though last time I can recall was back in 2008-2009).

Ignostic / igtheist because atheist is too mainstream.

...concludes that the entire question about God's existence is a non-question and that taking a yes, no or even ambivalent position is absurd

Wait, so this is a position that literally purports itself as....not taking a position at all on the existence of God?

EDIT: Nevermind, found this tidbit -

...ignosticism posits that "you haven't even agreed on what you're discussing" (see Concepts of God)

So ignostic / igtheist is essentially a logical position that doesn't address the question at all, namely because the question can't be answered due to the lack of one particular definition or refinement of what "God" actually is.

That is both fascinating and mind boggling at the same time.

  3. You know I found out several years ago that Jill of the Jungle by Epic Megagames actually used to have box art

Not sure I would've been as enamored of it as a kid had I seen this. Thank fuck we only got just the disks and learned to jump right in.

EDIT: Sadly I think they made one for each episode of the game

  4. So I just moved into a new apartment and am using my roommate's Xfinity which he brought over from his old apartment.

The results have been different every time I run the test, which means I may have some digging to do and see if something is clogging my upload/download speeds.

Oh sweet lord I just noticed the typo! How embarrassing. Lols.

    Admittedly I couldn't help myself ;)

On topic we did have this thread for a while which was a interesting collection of creepy clips plus some creepypasta for your viewing pleasure. I don't actively go reading creepypasta these days, though if one gets sent across my way I'll give it a go through.

I've admittedly been reading in full the articles at the SCP Foundation Wiki and been finding some fascinating stories to read through - hell I haven't even got past the first series of SCP's yet - the addendums and embedded stories are the real intrigue beyond the descriptions, like this one for example.

Launchable teleporter (forget it's actual name) from unreal tournament. Only really used it against bots, but it was a fun way to get a hold of an opponents weapon.

Ahhh, the translocator! That one definitely counts, and in the original UT you could use it without delay between jumps which made it incredibly useful.

I was pondering this the other night. In the environment of a high school or college algebra class, why aren't all of the problems that are given application problems instead of maybe 1 in 10?

It seems incredibly backwards for students to get good at algebraic thinking without context and then panic when the dreaded story problem comes along. It's like if somebody opened a boxing gym where the coach spent the whole time talking about boxing theory but never had anybody spar.

Where and when are people panicking here?

Isn't the point of college/university specifically to learn practical application of said theory in a given context?

What the heck is a story problem?

When you read this you hear a voice in your head

No dn. You are the voice in my head.

And then darknation was a figment of everyone's imagination.

As for the original topic I do agree that the only way you will get a legitimate answer with substantial facts is to talk to your doctor about it. You will get some helpful responses in this thread but honestly you aren't going to know what it is for sure until you talk to someone with a medical background (AKA your doctor)

  9. I just remembered one: Blast Doors. I swear it was either here or the ZDoom forums that provided a link for freeware/shareware games and this was one of them. Incredibly fun 3d-style scorched earth game that seems to have vanished from the internet. I think I still have it installed on my old desktop HDD, I will have to peruse that later tonight :)

    Yep, Prototype I think?

I get the impression Jannak is talking about someone else. PROTOTYPE had this thing about getting justification for going out by himself at night and hoping to get mugged/looking for a fight so he could have an excuse to use his knives for his "fantasy". I don't recall him actually drawing any pictures or targeting any one person in particular (save for his racist comments), though there was the time he asked about video games.

Age of empires 1 and 2. I really love rts games and these two were my favourite. Classic games that i really miss.

I was going to say AoE 2 as well, but it appears to be available on Steam in an HD remake.

Though I wouldn't go so far as to pay $20 for it while I still have my old install of The Conquerors up and running ^_^

I would quote a number of N64 games, but the ROM scene sort of negates bringing that up.

  12. Heh, that latest post arrow is almost too perfect with the thread title.

How the fuck did he get a stalker?

How does anyone get a stalker? I know someone who broke off a friendship with someone a few years ago because the other friend was a moocher who kept spending my friend's money and looking for favors that he couldn't comply with. That same other friend consistently keeps trying to add him back on Facebook over multiple different account attempts and PM's.

Frankly some people are just weird. There could be a multitude of reasons why people stalk other people, but it's on a per-individual basis.

Also you may remember me from my post questioning whether the new Doom marine could be a girl, a post which quickly turned into an angry argument amongst members. I'm proud of that post.

Why on Earth would you bring that up?You can be proud of it all you want but it's not remotely relevant here.

My obvious first questions is to ask if you have tried other input devices to see if it's your computer lagging. Did you try a different Mouse? Is it your laptops built-in keyboard that is lagging or an external one?

  14. Office/Operations manager for a small business that collects used fryer oil from restaurants and refine it to be used for making bio-diesel. Started working at the company nearly 4 years ago as an assistant doing filing - now I am overseeing the office and managing the daily schedules for our trucks.

A very decent and cozy job. Main drawback? I have not finished my IT degree and have become exceptionally lazy in getting back into finishing my 35~ credits I have left.

On the other hand, I finally am getting to move into my own apartment this coming March. So I am quite happy about that.
