What Video Game Are You Currently Playing?

I wouldn't mind trying Tears of the Kingdom, I did enjoy my time with Breath of the Wild. But I had a Wii U, haven't invested in a switch yet. I had some problems with BOTW (aside from the miserable frame rate at times on the Wii U), but I would still love to try Tears of the Kingdom at some point. I think Legend of Zelda could work really damn well in an open world game, but the lack of well built dungeons in Breath of the Wild kind of threw me off. The Zelda series is known for it's clever puzzles and it's strict order for completion, so not having that was really odd. Just haphazardly running around the world looking for things to do isn't exactly the first thing I think of when Zelda comes to mind. But it worked well enough for BOTW for just faffing about and completely ignoring what you were supposed to do. But to me, that doesn't really seem like a Zelda game. As for HROT, yeah it's pretty damn good. Aside from a few complaints I had about the end of E3, it's a fantastic game. My only real complaint is that I can't get the fucking "Just You Wait!" achievement. I haven't played those little handheld LCD games since the early 90's.

What Video Game Are You Currently Playing?

I decided to try finishing Wolfenstein: The New Colossus. I bought it when it came out and maybe I was just burned out on Wolfenstein, maybe I had something better to do in 2017 (I know I did), or I got sick of cutscene after cutscene without enough Nazi killing, but for whatever reason I lost interest once I got to Venus. So I'm trying to finally go back and finish it, I got up to the point where you can either go to New Orleans, or use the Enigma Machine to kill more Nazis last night. So I spent some time killing Nazi Oberkommandos before I called it quits. I don't think I ever used the Enigma Machine when I was first playing it, so they're a fun distraction. I am going to finally finish it this time, but the combat still just doesn't feel that fun. I like killing Nazis as much as the next guy, but there's something wrong with the feedback. The weapons seem like they should be really powerful (and they're certainly ridiculously over-modeled to give that impression, the MP looks like it should weigh ten pounds at least), but it still seems like it takes too many shots to down even your most run of the mill Nazi. Oh well, it does occasionally provide some really enjoyable moments of killing Nazis, and that's what's important I guess. edit: I just realized I really abused the apostrophe when I was typing Nazis.

    Fried egg on ice cream.

I've been thinking about this for a while now, and I could see how it could actually work. At first I thought the very idea was abhorrent, and it must be the product of a diseased mind. However, I think this sounds like the perfect hangover food. If you've never dipped hot, salty French fries (or pommes frites if you must)into a chocolate shake to help with a hangover, or if you've never dipped a piece of a quarter pounder with cheese into a chocolate shake to help with a hangover, then you've probably been curing your hangovers wrong for years. And aside from being something that sounds like it would be good with a hangover, I have to remind people that humans have been eating waffles with cream and syrup alongside fried or scrambled eggs and bacon for centuries. Bacon bits are used as toppings on ice cream as well. And when you mix all that that salty sweet goodness together, it's really enjoyable. My favorite way to eat scrambled eggs is mixed with sharp shredded cheddar and maple syrup. So why is adding ice cream to the mix that weird? I think the base idea of mixing a hot fried egg with ice cream is odd simply because they're at the extreme end of the spectrum from each other. But as @Guff dotDmentioned, we do eat fried ice cream. I actually made it for a "Mexican" restaurant when I was a teenager. I never wanted to eat it, because I saw how I made it, but people seemed to enjoy it. But people have been mixing salty and sweet for as long as people have been able to differentiate between the two. That all being said, I don't think I'll ever try this, and just typing up all these food stuffs has made me sick. But a fried egg on ice cream doesn't actually seem that weird to me.
  4. I kept forgetting about it too, until I was scrolling through Steam looking for something to play and I remembered that the full thing was out. Overall, I really enjoyed episode three for the most part. It does feel like it was maybe a little rushed though, especially the last two levels in the episode. I understand the last level is a boss level, so I can kind of accept that it's an arena (even if the previous two episodes had relatively sizeable levels leading up to their bosses), but even the penultimate level is just two open arenas with enemies warping in, connected by a small building. But even then, the rest of the episode is pretty damn good, if not quite as good as the first two. I don't know if he has any plans to maybe go back and flesh out the last two levels or not, but it would be nice. But as it stands, it's still really enjoyable for the most part. And the dogs are just adorable, I'm just kind of sad that you only get them for two levels, and that's including if you find the secret level. Oh, and some people were complaining about the last boss being added in for political reasons. And maybe it was, but I still think it's damn hilarious. If you haven't seen or heard what it is, I'll hide it under a spoiler: Oh, and the first level of the episode is rather amusing as well, it's certainly unique at the very least.
  5. I remember recently when companies getting bought by Embracer Group was seen as a good thing, especially the studios and IPs that they bought from Squeenix, could potentially receive new life. In particular I was interested in the Legacy of Kain series, but overall it looked like they wanted to bring dead IP's back to life, and employ people from studios that were getting laid off left and right. In particular those from Squeenix when they decided that the best investment of their money was in NFT's. Well, I guess that was the wrong way of looking at it. But thank god they now hold exclusive rights to videogames regarding Middle-Earth. Hopefully we get more gems like The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.
  6. I'm so glad all my HROT dogs were safe at the end of the game.

    Most Recent Series You've Streamed/Watched/Binged

I watched "Smiling Friends" on... Max... since I just signed up for it. I still think it's a terribly designed service, it has so many bugs and glitches in it. But Smiling Friends was pretty enjoyable. Even if the last episode was a complete joke, which I assume it was supposed to be. But it was really enjoyable if you like Adult Swim cartoons, which I do. And I did really enjoy Star Trek: Lower Decks, it was nice seeing a lighthearted side of Star Trek. It just gets better in season 2 and 3 and I think you'll enjoy it. And if you like that, I might suggest "Dogs in Space" if you have Netflix. It's kind of a riff on the original series, but with dogs, in space. I was dubious at first, but it's really sweet and heartwarming, and it actually has some pretty darn good storylines. I mean, how can you not fall in love with this? Other than that, I've just been catching up on all the South Parks I've missed on Max, since Hulu stopped airing new episodes a few years ago. They're decent.

    Just returned to doom world!

Well welcome back! I'm not sure how long you've been gone really. I vaguely remember a Space Ghost avatar being used around here on occasion, not sure if that was you or not. But the name is only ringing a very faint, small bell somewhere off in the distance. But yeah, things are still alive and kicking around here.

    What are you listening to?

My brother lives in Philly now, and he sent me this video he found of Tool performing in Philly in 1992. And it's really damn good. Most of it is Opiate, but there's some songs that would show up on Undertow, like Sober and Crawl Away, Swamp Song. The absolute intensity that Maynard has while singing is amazing. I don't know if I'll ever have the pleasure of seeing them live again, but I did get to see them back in 2002 on their Lateralus Tour, and they were really damn good. I wish they would've played more songs from Ænema and Undertow, but it was still really damn good.

My opinion about the DOOM Movie (2005)

I remember when this movie came out, and my girlfriend and I were really excited to see it. So we asked my roommate and his girlfriend to go with us, because it was going to be fun. It's a movie about Doom, how badly could they fuck it up? All it needs is Demons and Hell, right? I had to apologize to everyone when we were walking out of the movie. It was terrible. It's not bad as a sci-fi movie, but it's terrible as a Doom movie. The FPS sequence felt annoying and tacked on, and nothing else about was remotely similar to the Doom that I loved. My biggest problems: The monsters were created by an extra chromosome. And I was very irritated by that fact. An extra chromosome doesn't make you a demon, it gives you Downs Syndrome. And there was no Hell in it. All they needed for an entertaining Doom movie was a guy with heavy weaponry, or even a group of people with heavy weapons, a terrible mishap with a teleporter on Mars which resulted in demons and people going into Hell to fight said demons.

    apple vision pro

I didn't want VR when it was under a thousand dollars, I'm certainly not going to throw away $3500 on an Apple product that was probably designed with planned obsolescence in mind. Because they seem to be really good at that.
  13. I just... I feel completely lost. Even after looking up what a moeblob is... I still don't know what to make of this.

    What are you listening to?

I'm listening to Alice, by Tom Waits. It's an excellent album, one of the more depressing albums I've heard, but it's sadly beautiful.
  15. That is true, and I thought of Darkman when I was posting that, so it isn't that amazing of a leap. I just really didn't think Sam Raimi would be on board with something as iconic and generic as Spider-Man. But I guess Evil Dead and Darkman aren't going to pay the bills forever, so I'm glad that he found broader recognition.

Is DOOM 2 meant to be played continuously?

Most of the enemies in level 4 are hitscanners, and low tier. Let them kill each other and then reap the rewards. You want to attract the Chaingunners by opening the door, firing a few shots, and then closing it. They'll clear out most of your problems pretty quickly. Every map in Doom 2 is completely beatable from a pistol start on UV, some are more difficult than others, but they are beatable. Doom 2 was designed to be played continuously, but it was also designed so that every level could be beaten from a pistol start, and it's amazing how well they managed to make it work.
  17. Evil Dead was so much better than Spider-Man.

    What are you listening to?

At some point today I got "Metronome" by Nomeansno stuck in my head, and I watched their live performance of it from back in 1990. And damn, I really miss live punk shows, especially the basement shows where someone just said "Hey, you can play at my house because the venue fell through". And of course neighbors complained. And I'm going to have to add Rags and Bones, my favorite song by them:
  19. Okay, probably for the best. You should never meet your heroes.
  20. There was something really special about newgrounds for a long time. It was a wonderful way to pass time in computer class because your teacher was also the volleyball coach and had no idea what you were doing with the computers. Also, Alien Hominid was a really damn good game. And @Pseudonaut, are you the Pube Muppet?
  21. Honestly, twenty years later, I still think "CRAPPYSHIT" by drunkmagikoopa still encapsulates the entirety of the internet for me perfectly. https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/105790 I mean, it really hasn't changed at all in twenty years. It's just as stupid and full of nonsense as it was back then.

I cant download anything from this website

Well right, it defaults to an FTP, and most browsers have dropped support for that since... several years ago. But you can save the link, and keep the file. That's why I usually try to just get things off of /idgames, because you have your choice of mirrors and don't have to go through that extra step. And it sounds like this is being worked on, but I could see it frustrating quite a few people who click on a download link and nothing happens.

    Cursed Doom Images

That is indeed how it worked originally. The cursed thing about that image is that they have 203% armor.

    Opinion on this monster?

That's what I thought as soon as I saw it. You've got the eyes under the hat, the big black nose, and the long smiling snout. And long ears on the sides. Maybe he's just angry and digging up dirt because nobody has ever let him know he's a good boy. This monster could probably be defeated with walkies and a belly rub.
