  1. Ok, I've started working on my next Flash animation a little over two weeks ago. It's the finale for the Solid Snake Simulation Show. The pace of the movie is slower than the last two movies but there will be some action. And hooray for me, I have windows (As in, I know how to make transparent objects!) Yeah, so the lesson I've learned from that is read the tutorials. The movie's almost done. I just need to add in sounds and change some music. The flash movie's a whopping 7MBs! Maybe it's because of the music or the excessive use of frames, I really should find a way to decrease the size. Anyone have suggestions on how I can do that?

Make sure you're not using unecessary frames. You can get smooth motion with even six frames per second. And of course, reuse instances where ever possible.

Avoid tweening whenever possible (read: never use it) and use scripted animations instead.

If you're importing images such as jpegs, right-click on them in the library and select "properties". From here you can adjust the image compression on a per-image basis. You'd be surprised how far you can go before experiencing any noticeable loss in quality.

Do the above procedure for audio as well. You can reduce audio quality by A LOT and still have it sound good. Reduce the sounds to mono at the very least.

i only learned basic flash in highschool. not much of an artist.

i do admit i like seeing good work. the SA flash tub is something i look forward to each week. this weeks is just twisted and wierd, but still awesome.

i have more of a respect for it because it is something i am not at all good at. art is an area i am poor in.
