  1. I was working on my DOOM 64 EX map around 10 PM tonight when I got a call from my Mother. I had a sinking feeling in my stomach - she always texted me to ask me to give her a call when she wanted to talk. She never called without warning. As soon as I picked up the phone I heard it in her voice that something was really wrong, and she told me it was grandpa, that his heart had stopped and they couldn't do anything for him and get it to start again. Somehow I just knew it had to be that one of my only two grandparents had passed away, I just didn't know which to expect. My grandmother has always had impeccable health but is only 5'0" and very much overweight.

My grandfather has struggled since he had a combination of a heart attack and stroke a few years back, even having a blood clot removed this last Fall that could've done him in, otherwise. The worst part is being in Houston, when my family are all up in Missouri and not having the means to go see them at the moment. I'm hoping the funeral or services are during the weekend so my partner and I can go see my family and be there with them for a time, but either way I need to go see them.

What is probably most bizarre is my sudden interest and love of DOOM mapping again in the last two days. The context in which this fact applies is that my grandfather was the one who got me started nearly 17 years ago. It was my grandfather that had found a map editor on an internet bulletin board and put it onto a floppy disk. When I was little I wanted to make my own Sonic levels because I loved the classic Sonic games as a kid and I spent a lot of time drawing these ridiculous sketchy levels across multiple pieces of printer paper before stapling them together. At some point my grandfather introduced me to Heretic and Duke Nukem 3D, then eventually DOOM and DOOM 2. It was a long step up from Commander Keen and Kingdom of Kroz on the old monochrome IBM he had given me.

DOOM 2 mapping lead to Quake 3 Arena, attempting to help with what I could for the original DOOM 64 TC, then later DOOM 3 and an ever expanding interest to try my hand at everything from Starcraft to Portal 2, before beginning a brand new project in Unity and now being friends with several devs in the game industry. My grandfather supported me in any way he could, along with working his ass to the bone and giving his all for his loved ones and their needs. So it is bizarre that, after losing sight of mapping and not having truly touched DOOM mapping since 2006 that I suddenly felt this urge and fervor for mapping again in the last two days. Two days that I've spent doing nothing in my free time other than working on a new map in DOOM 64 EX, jotting down ideas for a map series, that I'm now going to dedicate to his memory.

RIP Richard Bozworth, I'll cherish my memories with you, always.

Thanks, everyone. I'm determined to finish a project for public release, as it's something I've never done despite years of mapping. I think he'd love what I'm doing :)

Tonight, I will raise my glass to you and your grandfather. I am so sorry to hear about this, man. If you want to chat about it, PM me.

  2. Living in Houston now instead of Missouri. It's a nice change, even if the politicians are full of shit. But hey, that's America in general.

Still playing Magic: the Gathering. Been playing a lot with the boyfriend and getting set up for a big competitive event.

Speaking of Magic, Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014 is released, now. It's pretty fun, and I'll probably order it tonight. The Steam, Android and iPad version comes with a promo code for a card I really need. So hey, actually, if anyone else gets it for those devices and doesn't need the actual cards, shoot me a PM with the promo code.

Working on my Doomsday project, "The Exiled", that I started years ago.

For some reason darknation's Warhammer Quest thread came to mind when I saw this. :-)

  3. I'll preface this with a short back story: Because of things with my old roommate exploding due to his irresponsibility and negligence of important things, I had to find a place to stay ASAP. I found an ad on Craigslist for a live in job at a hotel describing an offer wherein for work at the hotel room, you would be compensated with a place to stay. I've been living here about three and a half weeks, now.

So, since I started this job I've seen various things that were questionable, but until yesterday it did not yet occur to me that there may be a lot of illegal activity going on at this hotel on the owner's part. The hotel is owned and run by a family from India (Patels, of course), and between them they have several corporations that make up their hotel chain within the region.

A couple weeks ago, the owner and head of their "household" (I guess that's what you call it), asked me to take a legal document titled "SPECIAL WARRANTY DEED" and directly type a copy of the papers into a new OpenOffice document. After this, he proceeded to help me change all instances of names, companies and dates to suit his current aims. The papers were originally from the state of Missouri when he was purchasing a hotel back in 2007, and had me replace them with a more current date and the name of his corporation and that of the one he has set up for his son. So, while these look like official documents, they're essentially hack jobs he had me do on a computer at the front desk.

Now, yesterday, he had me forge another part of this 28 page document, doing the same thing. While talking with my friend/the maintenance guy whose patience is running as short with the Manager's as mine is, I made the comment that I had to get back to working on fixing more documents that the Manager was too "busy" to fix himself, and said friend laughed and made the comment "you mean too busy to do the legal way", which made me start thinking about all of this.

The papers aren't the only things that are bothersome in this hotel and the business practices here. On an every-other-day basis he has been instructing me to use fake e-mails to book hotel stays at his various locations using his AMEX credit card by fake people whom he has previous made various GMail or Hotmail accounts for, followed by forging reviews for the hotel. These reviews are all over his hotels on Expedia, Booking, Travelocity, Google+ and others. What's even further disturbing, is that his instructions are specifically to copy/paste reviews from other hotels in random cities and tweak them to match descriptions of the hotel here. So not only is he falsely talking up his hotel, he's also forging reviews from other hotels.

Probably the most disturbing thing so far, is that when we went to a different hotel about an hour and a half away to set up security cameras, an employee revealed something to me that she had been told to keep to herself: The fire alarm kept beeping/going off every few nights, so the Manager told her to silence the fire alarm (as he was too cheap to have it looked at). Because the fire alarm was silenced, the elevator no longer worked, but obviously that's the least of the issue here. She couldn't stand up to him, because like almost all of his employees, we we're compensated for our work with a roof over our heads and if we make him angry, then he kicks us out.

When he interviews people, he either hires them on the spot or tells them to go home. Other than the generic application, no other papers are signed and that's that. It seemed a bit odd to me, but I was too worried about having a roof over my head to really think about it. But truthfully, now that I'm thinking about how illegal a lot of things he does are... that may be the least of my problems, since he's instructing me to be an accomplice in all these unethical business practices. He doesn't even run heating in public areas of the hotel and has 5 space heaters in the front desk/office area to make the thermometer read above 68 degrees (which I guess is the number the hotel temperature has to stay above).

So now I wonder what I should do. If someone gets pissed, can they sue him? Hell can I sue him? I'm not one of those sue happy people, but the question had come into my head. Should I report him to some sort of agency? I have all this to consider on top of the fact that this is the only place I have to stay, and since I don't actually get paid, I'm pretty much stuck here until I can convince a friend to let me move in with them so I can get a job (Omaha is not a friendly city to people that do not have a car; I work 9-5 and the latest bus runs at 6, and walking somewhere from my location for work isn't very viable - I do feel really stuck here).

The cash isn't flowin'. He has a live-in job found on Craigslist. He's basically being compelled to work here lest he become homeless.

Seems to me the best thing to do is to find another, REAL job, as soon as you can, before you think about reporting the dude. Mind you, you should probably report him, or do something along those lines. You don't want to become an accomplice. I doubt if you did any sort of whistleblowing you'd be prosecuted yourself, but I also wouldn't rely on the generosity of a government agency to keep you housed. Any action you take should follow from distancing yourself from this business.

OK. So is this a reason he should not seek something better out? On the issue of whether to rat the guy out, I personally wouldn't unless he's treating you poorly, in which case, yes, throw him under the bus.

I highly doubt you making money from this whole situation though. Lawyers cost quite a bit up front, and I doubt the guy will pay up if he gets in trouble. Just get a real job and place to stay and reap the benefits of being above the table.

  4. And hilarity at his frustration ensued (not to mention he was using the wrong version of Doomsday for it).

I decided to upload a proper video of the map in response.

I can tell you that pretty much anything out there isn't packaged with a complete version of the map or the version of Doomsday I have that it works with. So, keep that in mind. The project is not finished. I also like how you come into my thread about my project and throw links out to badly packaged demos. Kind of a slap in the face :P

Sorry I did not intend to offend you in any way. I saw this video and I had to play it. I found your old threads which didn't have working download links; and then I found something. I thought it might be useful to some. But I removed the link.

Appreciate removing the link and your enthusiasm with playing it. I'm actually starting to work on the project again - it's a few years old and about time I started to head towards finishing it again.

I think there's a touch of arrogance in the artist's belief that their work should be preserved forever. Intentionally destroying your art makes you even more of a tool. I think that drawing on a whiteboard and erasing it when you need the space is just right.

Decided to take a random photo in my halloween costume and do a quick sloppy photoshop job.

  6. Wake up this morning and go into the living room, and see my desktop never finished shutting down after I went to bed (was exhausted, hit shut down, went to bed assuming it'd shut down). So I power it off, and go to turn it back on. Case lights come on, fans are starting up, then it goes right back off not even as soon as I release the power button.

I give it a bit, try starting it up a few more times, and finally get it to start loading aaaand it freezes while loading Win7. Restart it again, this time it starts up asking me if I want to do a start up recovery so I hit yes. It goes through it's thing, restarts and freezes as soon as it enters windows. Great.

Restarted it again, now it freezes on the MOBO logo screen (I guess you'd call that while it's loading BIOS), and some times not getting a video signal at all. Now, when it'll power up all the way (it still often times does the original not-powering-on-properly thing), I'm met with the sound of fans running at max and no video signal.

I have no idea wtf is wrong with it now. During all this I tried resetting the BIOS. I got out my Win7 disc because it's priority was set to boot from CD, but now I can't get a video signal or anything anyway. Normally after it starts and gets going when it's working, the fans quiet down, but now all the fans are just blasting at full speed with no video signal until I turn it off again. Also no power is going to my USB mouse that has some LED lights in it, because normally after it gets going the mouse lights come on.

FYI I'm running Win7 64-bit, a Radeon HD5770 video card, ASUS P5N-T MoBo, and a 750w ATX Power Supply, and an Intel QuadCore CPU (the model escapes me atm.

edit: Well a friend suggested I try to reseat the processor and video card. Now it's getting a video signal, but automatically shutting down once it enters BIOS.

It could also be a failing power supply. I had similar problems a few years back and that is what it ended up being. Do you happen to have a spare one to try? Or maybe one you can borrow from another computer just long enough to see if you can boot?

    3. Bucket

      Unplug EVERYTHING.
Turn it on and see if it throws the appropriate error (usually CPU).
If the mobo fails even here, the problem is the PSU or motherboard.
Connect things one at a time to see where it starts to freeze.
Refer to your mobo's manual and Google to find where to go from here.

    4. Maes

Inspect the mobo for bulging/exploded capacitors, and, if you are feeling brave, the PSU itself. These tended to be a real plague in the mid 00s, now much less so.

  7. Track for a Doomsday project I've been working on casually for a while. Probably one of the darker tracks I've done in ages. Much of what I've done since I first started kinda sounds like it might fit into a game score/soundtrack, but you couldn't really say it fit a genre. For this I decided to try to go with Sci-Fi Horror soundscape. Dying machinery in a derelict space station orbiting a distant star. Or something. Of course after I uploaded it I decided to make it a lot longer and tweak a lot of it heh.

  8. After growing up and going through school in this shit hole town, going to Chicago and coming back and all the bullshit since then, I'm finally moving tomorrow. It feels kind of sad to be the last of my friends to get out of this town, but you know... my friends that made it out of this town aren't doing much better than they were when they were here. Either way, I'm really looking forward to the city life and all the life changes that'll come with it. I'm leaning towards the idea of trying to get a career in game soundtrack ideas eventually as I feel I've improved a lot over the years and that the music I'm writing now is decent quality so who knows. I'll be collaborating with a close friend of mine I've known for 8 years that I'm sharing an apartment with. New friends, new place, new life. For the first time in ages I feel like life is worth living.

Also finally got a haircut, so I don't feel the need to hide under my fedora when I take photos.

And I'm sad I have to leave the kitten behind, because this is my impression of what'll become of it being left with my family, via drawing

Actually, here's my gallery. Knock yourself out. http://daoloth.imgur.com/

Finally, my response to a wiki article someone linked me when I said I never heard of the new FPS they were playing ("Brink" apparently):

*Cave Johnson voice* Man. Classes in FPS games. Back in my day you were a lone space marine trapped on a distant planet battling your way through hell! LITERALLY! Didn't have none of these new fangled health regenning, allies, objectives or cut scenes. If you kept some of your limbs and made it to the exit, mission accomplished! Up hill both ways snowed in no shoes and only a pistol because you probably DIED.

  9. Well, that's the name of the song I'm working on anyway. With the exception of easing the transitions in a couple places of the song and a bit of layering, it's pretty much finished, so I decided to toss it up. Download it by clicking on the related photoshop job I did to accompany it :P

    1. Sharessa

Reminds me of Frank Klepacki (the guy who did the soundtracks to the Westwood RTS games), but more...spacy. Also,

  10. Decided to upload a bunch of demo clips of music I've been working on. Direction and knowledge with the creation is...

...The Rock just raised his eyebrow at me, WTF?

ANYWAY, I've come along way since the older stuff I used to post (if anyone's still around that listened to it or even remembers it). The three tracks I'm currently working on or toying around with are up there, but there'll be more later on.

Also decided to make some albums on imgur for screenshots from Doom projects I've never finished that are floating in limbo, and other stuff.

Yeah, I'll admit I was actually a little unnerved when I first saw that, because I saw it out of the side of my vision. It reminded me of Phantasmagoria 2 when you're sitting at the guy's computer, and the words on the screen change for a split second to say things like "Kill them all" and "Eviscerate". I thought I was losing it.

    4. Kelzam

I did get your email Megalyth, thanks for that :) Would've responded sooner but I've been really busy lately.

And yeah, it amazes me after all these years in the DOOM community I still run across things like the eyebrow raising that I've never noticed before :P

  11. It feels like it's been forever since the break up, even though it's been a relatively short amount of time. Every day lately has just been this rollercoaster with medium highs and discovering new lows. I can't honestly say I've ever been this depressed before, and try as I might it's about impossible for me to get really motivated to do anything. I've been lucky enough to have a web of support from various friends and I've found myself bouncing from friend to friend trying to preoccupy myself to avoid the low points. Today and last night were probably the lowest points yet. I've never experienced the thoughts I'm having right now, and it's very weird.

I don't know why I can't just let go. My mind tells me it's pointless to keep going on like this but my heart keeps overriding my mind with ultimately futile feelings. I have a few good things going at the moment outside of this, and I wish I could focus on them. Portal 2 and co-op with a friend was a nice reprieve from all this, though. I'm looking at a project someones doing trying to rip the soundtrack from the game which is amazing.

Speaking of music, I was able to snag a copy of ohGr's new album "unDeveloped" and it's absolutely amazing as well. The later half of the album is probably my favorite part. In any case it's a big departure from Devils In My Details, but in a good way. I guess the word for it is "experimental".

    1. Sharessa

I thought the third album was pretty terrible. Maybe I should check this out, though.

  12. Been a while since I posted. I should probably try to participate in discussion topics and stuff, but life has been... complete ☺☺☺☺, to be blunt.

Short story: I'm not moving to Australia anymore, because my boyfriend broke up with me and thinks he's in love with an online friend of mine there I introduced him to. After three years, he pulled this 2-3 weeks at most away from me moving there. I can't seem to decide how hurt or upset I am, of if there's some sort of relief hidden underneath all the other emotions rising within me at the moment. Yesterday I thought we talked things through and they were back to normal and he told me he wasn't acting weird because of anybody else. Then, tonight, he finally admitted what I suspected and knew all along. I even suspected it was our friend he was going after. Friend offered to back off and see if Tristan strays back to the path we were on, then Tristan says he doesn't feel things would ever be the same and that he wants to be with me anymore at all now.

Essentially, three years of my life just vanished into thin air. I'm three years older now, and ended up having gone nowhere. Now I have no idea what I'm doing with my life as so much of it revolved around getting to Australia first and getting settled in then seeing where to go from there.

Needless to say I'm feeling pretty devastated at the moment. If I can get up the will to even play Portal 2, I'd be excited that it's available to play today.

Yeah that's definitely one way I'm looking at it. There are benefits to this, I've just got to wrap my head around picking up life as it was before I met him. When it happened, everything else was sort of put on pause for myself while everything else was speeding by past me. In a way there's a comfort in knowing I'll be able to live a normal life again. Whatever "normal" is.

In honor of portal, I've made a new icon.

    3. Creaphis

If you don't want to be where you were three years ago you could move to Australia anyway. There are plenty of fish in the Great Barrier Reef.

    4. ThunderOrb

They are three years of your life that you'll never get back, but they are three years that have hopefully taught you a thing or two. At least now you can focus on YOU. You can be on a normal sleeping pattern, be able to get a job, and do the things you've always talked about wanting to do, but have been unable because you've been tied down to someone oceans away.

  13. Been half-ass working with my boyfriend on a custom D&D campaign based in the Forgotten Realms universe, and playing around in the Neverwinter Nights 2 builder. The area I'm currently planning out is fairly Doom-ish.

Deep within the ancient mountain range the sky seems to melt into a ominous shade of violet and the jagged, pointed rocks become twisted into unnatural shapes. As you continue north, you can begin seeing what appear to be debris slowly rotating around an unseen vortex. Suddenly like a gaping wound in the land, you come upon a canyon with an endless bottom. At the precipice, it becomes clear that the debris are chunks of upheaved land and rock, floating in stasis with demonic and Escher-esque fortresses and spires built upon them. Lava appears to pour from various aqueducts, chilling and turning to volcanic stone as it falls into the void below - the source of the endless stream is a mystery. The masses of upheaved land occupied by the demons are connected by crumbling stairwells and bridges that are in constant flux, reshaping and rebuilding themselves randomly while the void below is a Maw of Chaos, connecting the material world to that from which the demonic influence came.

    Anyway, early WIP: http://www.sendspace.com/file/znf2ce

    1. DuckReconMajor

So you listen to that while campaigning or something?

  14. As a preface, recently I've been experiencing an issue while playing WoW where randomly I'll lose input signal on my monitor, and some times you can hear the in-game sound continuing, where as other times the sound will cease up like the computer has hard locked itself. I had become a rather frequent issue.

When I would turn my PC off and back on again, some times while loading Windows it would do this again. Usually it took a restart or two at the most to fix it, and it'd go for a little while without doing it again.

Now, I cannot pick up a video signal at all. I tried to take the video card out and plug the monitor into the MOBO on-board chipset, but I still get no video signal at all. I thought it was the video card because I observed the on-board cooling fan on the video card jerk a little then never move afterwards.

    Here's whats in the case:

    Mobo: ASUS M3N-HT Deluxe
    Video Card: GeForce 7950 GT
    RAM: 2 GB
    Quadcore AMD 2.3 Ghz CPU

So I finally got around to installing a new power supply and video card, and it was acting fine. Suddenly earlier today, the computer locked up so I hard to shut it down. Upon turning it on, now it won't ever pick up a video signal on my monitor again. I tried resetting the BIOS following the instructions of removing the onboard cell battery on the motherboard and switching the jumper below it from 12 to 23 for a few seconds and back to 12 again and turned it on. Still nothing. Any ideas what I should look at next? :/

    3. Maes

Well, I still have an old MSI SOcket 745 mobo which was permanently damaged by a defective video card -everything placed in its PCIex or AGR slots would cause it to lock up as soon as you fired anything DirectX/OpenGL based. In the end, it only worked stably with PCI video cards (I mean without the express part) video cards. Time to change mobo, says I.

  16. Towards the end of this last winter, Tristan and I broke up. He's a guy I've been in an LDR (long-distance relationship) with from Australia for a year and a half up until when we broke up.

Couple of months later, met another guy after picking up Magic: the Gathering again. In the process I ended up friends with him. He's straight but pretty open-minded. I ended up liking him a bit more than I intended and we joked about it. Eventually he ended up telling me he thought he might have feelings for me. Up until then he'd been completely straight, so I wasn't sure how to take that. In a way it was what I wanted, but not what I expected to happen at all.

Fast forward two months, he's really confused and uneasy about things with us being together. We're really close friends, but when it came to us being more than friends, while we thought if that were possible we could be really happy, there's a good chance when we started to get more intimate we'd end up destroying our friendship. He can't get turned on thinking about guys. I'm not the kind of gay guy that enjoys taking it in the ass, and being straight his entire life until he met me, he probably wouldn't either. That's a pretty laughable situation, especially since he wanted to wait to figure it out when we got to that point. I was supposed to give him time to think about things, to figure himself out, things with us and his life in general.

In the middle of all of this, I still talk to Tristan. A couple of weeks ago, he came to me pouring his heart out telling me he still has an undying love for me. In some odd ironic twist, whereas it was difficult telling Jake I loved him because he couldn't say it back, Tristan told me he loved me and I wanted to say it back but couldn't make myself.

While giving Jake time to think about things the last few days, I realized a lot of things I hadn't thought about before and there would be compatibility issues that would really work against us even if he did decide he wanted to try making things work as a couple. There's also the issue of, well, it's not uncommon for bi people to get bored with one sex and want to be with the other sex for a while. He's a really honest person, and really caring, but with all the questions, him never being with anyone before, I just realized there's a very good chance trying to be together like that would destroy our friendship and nothing would be able to be like it was before.

I was having an extremely hard time dealing with all the emotions and things related to Jake the last couple days while I've been supposed to be giving him room to think. Yesterday morning I ended up telling Tristan about everything, and talked to a lot of my close friends about it. I ended up realizing that I still really love Tristan and want things to be able to work out, even though they're difficult because of immigration and distance. Everything else though, is there. I have a sense of security with Tristan, I know he loves me, we've been together and next month we'll have been together for two years. When he visited me for months last fall, it went really well.

I ended up deciding to tell Jake for his sake and mine, we should just be friends, and Tristan and I are back together now. Everything sort of fell into place yesterday, where things need to be I think. I still feel pretty tense, haven't been able to sleep well/eat etc. All of my friends and myself feel this is how things should be.

Wtf am I posting this on Doomworld again? Hell if I know.

      Nobody leaves Doomworld forever!

Also long distance relationships work better when you do actually go and see each other. I always wanted to visit Japan anyway... gonna go again in July.

Oh and also we actually fell in love in real life too which helps. And as a mere bonus we saw Replusion and Vader.

Tristan will either happen or it won't. I had a long distance girlfriend for a long time and we're still together so don't take any crap from people who use that as an excuse for why it won't work. That being said, I didn't have to deal with international immigration, and your relationship will eventually come to the point where you either need to be together or call it off. That's also probably a bit more difficult for you than it needs to be, due to the amount of places which don't give legal rights to same sex couples, which is very unfair.

As for Jake, you're somewhat attracted to each other but know it wouldn't work out if you hooked up. I have a friend like this too. My friend and I got to the point where we decided we wanted to be friends for a very long time, rather than some sort of significant other (this is the classy way of saying "just a root") for a shorter time and then be left with nothing. Sounds like what you two should decide too.

If you come to Australia and visit Brisbane, give me a yell and we'll have a drink :)

  17. Seems anymore that I can write a cool intro or parts to songs but I just can't seem to put an entire song together. It's rather frustrating because I come up with some stuff that I think would sound awesome if I could flesh it out.

This latest song is inspired by the space zones in Sonic the Hedgehog. I have the intro locked down, now if I could just brainstorm a direction for it to break off into for the rest of the song thats satisfactory.

    Sonicspace intro

Actually, uh, it's essentially done. Yay for the first song I managed to finish in two years.

      Excellent song!

Not overly Sonic-esque, but very enjoyable nonetheless.

  18. So what I thought was tailbone pain ended up being cellulitis in the tissue around the tailbone area under the skin. Well it's feeling a lot better now and I've been on antibiotics, but over the course of yesterday the area where the infection started became clear because you could see pus starting to build up.

Eventually, the abscess got pretty big. So I went to use the bathroom, and as I was about to sit on the toilet, I noticed a bit of blood in the seat of my boxers. I didn't feel anything happen, and I looked behind me... the abscess exploded, and the toilet, part of the bath tub by the toilet, the floor and the wall was splattered with pus and blood.

I also don't recognize half the people posting here anymore. Weird.

It's over there, by the thread talking about smoking weed. Hold your breath if you don't want to get stoned. Or not if you do :P

  19. After a rough few years and spending most of my time in World of Warcraft, I've finally been able to quit the damn game and move on to other things. I didn't realize how many hobbies I had dropped in playing the stupid game so much. I've become much more active in other online communities for hobbies I have in real life, and after receiving one of the bogus e-mails about paying for NewDoom membership, I came here figuring I'd see something about it.

I basically abandoned all my Doom projects and visiting Doomworld and Newdoom a long time ago because with other things I just finally lost interest in the modding community. In picking back up the pieces of interests I had dropped, I also decided to search for the thread on the project I had put most of my efforts into before I left everything to rot. When I did I couldn't believe the post date of the last time I posted in the thread

It's been almost three fucking years? I seems like forever ago that I had touched my editor - I remember reading about how the development of Doom Builder 2 had just been announced somewhere in between then and now and haven't been back since then. Jesus.

If you've ever considered playing WoW and can be even close to easily pulled into to something where it becomes addictive or compulsive, don't start playing World of Warcraft. I'm a dumbass for letting my life basically equate to WoW in some form when not working or sleeping. It's simply hard to describe the realization that every day for 3 years has been the same and blurred together to the point where you don't realize how much time has really gone by.

Things have been looking up. My boyfriend and I are both looking at moving to Australia, and things are going really well in that area. He has family living there, so it should be a really awesome experience. I think the only thing I'll really miss here in the U.S. is the tornado alley weather. Yeah, I'm one of those people standing out on their porch or parked on an overpass staring at the sky when I'm in a tornado warning. Heh, makes for great photography though (the clouds, not me gawking at them).

I just started playing WoW a couple weeks ago for something to do after my wierd work shifts. (Really... what is there to do at 2 or 3 in the morning on a weekday??)

I'm not really hooked on it though, for me it didn't really add up to the hype eveyone I know has been giving it. It is Okay, but nothing special.

Yeah, it really depends on what kind of person you are. My brother and I started playing about the same time. I got bored quite a while ago. My brother, on the other hand, is still raiding almost every night.

12 beers in the past year? Funny, I had 12 beers in about an hour last night. Being hammered is more fun than WoW, and it makes for awesome and random things to happen.

What's really kind of sad is that my server totally sucks ass when it comes to end-game content. Actually we get owned on PvP as well. It's just a crap server. The two guilds aspiring to be high-end raid guilds recently splintered because the leadership is full of drama queens and assholes. So not only has no one in my guild seen the end of Naxramas, but I doubt anyone else on the server has...not more than once or twice. Kind of helps that the average age on there seems to be about 16.

  21. So, forums and myspace are apparently such wonderful sources of meeting new people. Today I found this website http://yourscenesucks.com, and I find it quite funny. Little did I know how true it was, when one of the random douche bags who sent me a Friends request on MySpace updated his photo album.

  22. Finally spring. Just need some good thunderstorms, now.

I haven't drawn or painted anything for almost a year, but I'm finally starting to get part of my will back to do so. I've done one painting so far in my life time, but I definitely want to pick it up and go with it. Today I picked up a canvas from Walmart and decided to get my old paints out and try something new. A friend told me about a few methods of painting I wanted to try out. After about two hours and not having an important tool for the type of painting I wanted to do, I ended up with this

I intended to do an abstract, and had red as my base color with life and anger in mind for a start, and then I realized I couldn't find the spray bottle I use to dampen the canvas and paint, so I had to go with large amounts of waters and spreading it around. Well, the resulting effect was the blood-vessel-ish appearance, and I went with it from there. It's still abstract, though I cheated a bit since traditionally you're not supposed to see recognizable objects or shapes, and the blood vessels are definitely recognizable. At first the bit of black closest to the middle looked like the shape of a heart, but I put a bit too much black and it ended up running together, although I personally think it made a neat effect in the end.

Once I find said spray bottle I'll probably attempt another abstract before I move on to try the next style of painting I'd like to try, which is portrait. I'm really not into landscapes or still life paintings, but maybe at a later time.
