Nobody plays Mario Galaxy 2. :( But yeah, everyone and their brother has New Super Mario Bros. -
Hard Reset; the next attempt to make a modern classic Doom style game?
caco_killer replied to Vermil's topic in Everything Else
I like the game, but I don't like the slow movement speed of the player character. It feels more like Painkiller then Doom, though. Since it's on Steam, I'll just buy it when its really cheap. -

What are your thoughts on the Serious Sam games?
caco_killer replied to hardcore_gamer's topic in Everything Else
I've tried to get into the Serious Sam games, but the level design bores me. Its just mostly wide-open spaces filled with enemies. That's fun for certain "set-pieces," but not for the majority of the game. The videos I have seen of the third game look like they are making actual levels, though. -
I wouldn't consider one decent mod a good example of a decent mod community. Even the popular bot mod barely works.
-
More modern games could have mods if developers bothered to support it. Companies like Valve and Bethesda have done a lot of great work in making their games moddable. Then you have games like COD4 and Black Ops where the developers didn't do jack shit so there's barely any mods for it.

You can have a max of 200 (like Doom), but the limit without items is 100. Apparently, the first boss has really bad AI, so a stealth character can stun him with a concussion grenade, hide in a corner, and then the boss just kills himself with his frag grenades.

I'm at the point where I don't want to even bother uploading videos to Youtube anymore. This hacking bullshit is really getting tiring now. I guess Youtube has absolutely no security whatsoever. Oh, and fuck the copyright claim system, its just complete garbage. They never check any of the claims, and filing counter-claims is just suicidal.

30 FPS is fine with me. The game will actually be playable now.

Please tell me they at least fixed the horrendous framerate in Shadow of The Colossus.
-
I use leaning in single-player games, but the multiplayer games I play online tend to be so fast-paced that nobody bothers to use it.
-
I have honestly never seen anyone lean in a PC game ever. They always strafe around the corner.
-
Why is leaning such a big feature for PC gamers? What is the point when strafing slowly pretty much accomplishes the same thing?

Honestly, all the PC ports of the COD games from COD4 and beyond are shitty. They all have stupid issues that make them inferior to the console versions. The COD games that use servers do not let you edit classes between rounds, you have to quit the server. Most of them also run only TDM, and the few servers that don't are very hard to get into. MW2 is exactly like the console versions, but with horrible matchmaking. It takes ages to find a game, despite the fact that there's still around 5000-20000 people playing the game (depending on what time of day you play). IW actually bothered to fix the performance issues, too bad they didn't do jack shit about the hacking. Thankfully, there is a tool for getting hackers (but you have to be host for it to work). COD4, WAW, and BLOPS support mods, but they never really caught on like they have for other games (except for Promod for COD4). I don't exactly know why, though.

Infinity Ward's COD games look great. COD4 still looks good, and its almost four years old now. IW likes to make their games look good and run smoothly, something that BC2 tends to struggle with, especially on the console versions.

My favorite D-Pad is on the Logitech Precision Gamepad. I played games with it so much, the buttons crumbled apart. I miss that thing. :(

Unfortunately, this is really a port and not a remake. Its the exact same game, with new graphics, and online co-op/multiplayer (which the original game did not have).
-
Rage does not have "always on" DRM, though. I wouldn't consider one man's opinion representative of the entire company.

Steam has had an offline mode for years. All it wants to do is make sure your game is fully updated first, so its not a really hassle to deal with.

Hard Reset; the next attempt to make a modern classic Doom style game?
caco_killer replied to Vermil's topic in Everything Else
http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2011/08/pc-exclusive-hard-reset-wraps-classical-play-in-a-beautiful-shell.ars -The character you control only carries two guns at a time, but each one can be turned into different weapons (more on that in a second). -You have to find glowing orange pick-ups to unlock new weapons for your... uh weapons, and there's also Deus-ex style augments. There's also upgrades for the weapons, too. -No health regen, and the shield recharges very slowly. -There's secret areas. -Level design similar to Doom, but a bit more linear. Sounds like a decent game so far. -
I have been watching South Park since the beginning and don't think its really changed much at all. They've always mocked popular culture.
-
It also began to rely way too much on Brian and Stewie to carry entire episodes. I miss when the show was about all the main characters. :(

How come ZDaemon is locked at 35 FPS?

Doom 4 to have "30 demons crawling all over you"
caco_killer replied to sector666's topic in Doomworld News
Hopefully the PC version will have more enemies because of the superior hardware. This worked well for Dragon Age Origins.
