    Ok but lets say this guy I know who maps, not even a guy I know its a guy one of my friends knows, has no clue about ACS or any form of scripting. How would I explain this to a person who has no idea of how to work the script? I mean cuz this guy is a total noob.

    Wow Icarus got it! THANK YOU SO MUCH! That actually does work and is a lot easier than custom loading each texture.

    I released my wad and when I was editing it it was fine. I was able to put custom music in it and I was using the Mortres.wad texture wad for additional textures. Unfortunately the textures I used aren't there and some are replaced with a blue and red checker design. Anyone have any idea what i did wrong?

    I have figured out what the problem is but I still am having trouble solving it. My problem was what you guys said I didn't have the texture wad installed right. And the whole red and blue missing texture thing was actually the game telling me that I had textures where flats should be and vice versa. Doom Builder now for some reason just gives you flats and textures together so you can place them where ever you want. When I went back in there and changed it all around the map still had textures missing and misplaced even though I did run the server with the texture wad. Is it the map or am I still just not doing this right? Also when I went into XWE to add patches and such to my map like you said to, but it wont let me copy and paste the MORTRES flats and textures into my map, when I go to paste after copying I get a message saying there is nothing to paste. How do I rename the like 20 textures I need to be in my map or more over how do I do this correctly. Thank you for all the help so far.

    Ok so I have my wad file, am I supposed to save the texture wad into it? or do I save it into the zip file. Please tell me step by step as I am really confused on all this. Please and Thank you.

    uhhhhhh come again? I thought I only had to put my in there not the texture wads too. I have never downloaded a wad and gotten the texture wads too.
  10. Ok so I'm asking this here because I still don't understand how to do this. I am building maps, my 2 favorite texture wads are Recolored and Mortres. I cant build with both though and I would like to simply combine the 2 with 2-3 more other texture wads if possible. Explain it to me as simply as possible because I understand nothing of this procedure what so ever. Also I would like to make rain and snow but moving (ambitous for a noob huh?)how would I set this up? Thanks for any help in advance.

    Sky textures

    Are you building in Zdoom only? If you're using Doom Builder then the Sky to the ground ability is really simple, and all it requires is a line def. If you build in Zdoom (Doom in Hexen format) then you get a few extra options (bridges most notable). The option will give you an infinte horizon, meaning the 2 textures on the ceiling and floor will continue to a vanishing point. From what I can tell this is the effect you want. The line def is under the Line catagory and will be H horizon or something to that effect. Simply giving the line this def eliminates all the extra work. Hope this helps you any.
  12. Ok heres my idea. Im gonna make a new cybie sprite. Its gonna be what it was BEFORE the cybie operation. At the end of a really long fight (I'm gonna make the boss a bitch so my idea will go off great) I wanna have it where the boss drops to the ground on its knees, and while its there you can finish it off. You know classic good guy just kicked your ass moment. I was just wondering though would it have to be something like when the boss dies it spawns a "new" monster in the form of the boss on its knees? Or can i make the monster with like 5 health left go to this animation? I think the first way would have less scripting involved and be easier but any other ideas would be great.

    I've been told this is a powerful little tool, I went and downloaded got it running and now I'm trying to merge 2 pwads. 2 texture wads specifically, when I try to do thid though i simply get a error message which reads: Error: The command line od DeuSF is too big for DOS (try using shorter paths.) WTF does this mean? Thanks for any help in advance.

    Help on some stupid things

    In my wad I was just wondering how to: 1) Combine 2 texture wads (or multiple texture wads for that matter) so I can use them both rather than go out and make textures when I like the ones that exist. 2) Change the map name so that rather than read Entryway on Map 01 it will read my map name in the staus screen. 3) And lastly, while I have asked this question before and read the other posts on it I still don't understand how to make the sky the way you want it. Like if I want the Episode 1 sky (The sky from E1M1 in DooM) how do I get that to be the sky rahter that the cloudy grey one? All help is greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

    Boss ending on E1M8

    DB is way simpler to trigger effects with out all that scripting. For example: Say you want the cyber death to trigger a wall lowering. Simply select the cyber "thing" and select thing actions. Theres a whole bunch of thigns you can do like this to avoid scripting. If you want more advanced things like the wall lowers and the ground quakes with sound effects then you need to go in to scripting. But for a simple death trigger scripting would be a waste.
  20. How do I use XWE to change the title screen pic and intermission pics? Could you please telkl me the dimensions for them? Secondly what function in XWE would allow me to combine 2 or more different texture wads?
  21. First I use Xwe, how do I use Xwe to change the title pic and music along with the status screen music and pic. I'd like to know the specifications on the pic size and such please. Can I change my level name with XWE? Lastly, I have 2 texture wads that I always use. Recolored doom and mortres, however, I would like to know how I can combine the 2 so I can always have my favorite textures on every map I make. This one is really hard for me and I would love to have this one the most. Thank you in advance.

    Worst Level Editors of all time

    Deepsea is definitely up there in suckitude, the Deu series because I could never get them to work, and the others. XWE is good though. I use that to edit in songs, pics and things like that. Doombuilder is the best far and beyond. Thank you CodeImp for deciding to make such a wonderful editing program.

    the doom movie

    OK first let me just say that I went in there with low expectations, that being said it was a BAD movie. I really shouldn't be this harsh because I had fun mostly because of my friends. I wont include any spoilers (yeah like there are any), but I'll tell you about the film. Ok it does take place on Mars partly, and they try to give a dumb reason why there are demonic things running around the base. There is a team of 8 marines that go into a space base to rescue civilains from monsters after a distress call (Hello 1986? Aliens rip-off! Where is Sigourney Weaver?) only to be picked off one by one a mutant or mutants that part was never explained. So I'm being harsh about it, so what? I am upset they ruined what could have been an awsome movie for the gamers AND the folks who have never played DooM. People who watch this movie and then go play the game will be very confused. First of all they had children and whole families alive in the base once the trouble started, we all know that in the game we would have been shown a room with them as a buffet once the trouble started. The Rock wasn't believable, like we expected oscar worthy material. But this was even lower than his usual standards, plus they had some just plain stupid s**t. In an attempt to scare us they would have lab animals jump out at us. They also took things from the old DooM games and transponded them in to the film. Like one way walls you walk through? They are now nano-walls that are doors, but for some reason are walls as well. Guess doors in the future just aren't good enough. The movie gets its R rating, with heaping mounds of gore and about 3 minutes straight of people dropping F-bombs when they all start loseing thier cool. Hearing the Rock swear like a marine was just lame. I mean it sounded so forced and fake it wasn't even funny. You never really see any monsters from the game as they have all been changed. Of course the camera never sits still long enough to see anything so at a quick glance I guess you get look at the monsters. The Pinky moster looked the best, and even that got a little tedious. Watch the movie and you will see what I mean. If you stay for the whole film you will be treated to a rather well done first-person chase with some DooM charm. This scene put a smile on my face due to the fact that it was just like the game. Seriously though, the movie is about an hour and a half long, for an hour they try to make the plot all deep and mysterious, as The Rock queried "Doctor could you please tell me what the f**k you people are doing here? And dont feed me any bulls**t!" They play this game for a bit and then realize that it was stupid, so then they start killing things and marines off. Only problem is that in editing they forgot to take the bad parts out, like the whole first half! It takes forever for anything to happen. When they started realizing that the movie was running too long they just stop it and flash the credits. I'm not kidding, in the middle of an action scene it stops flashes to Doom guy (John A.K.A. Reaper in the movie) and the credits roll. Leaving a ton of things unexplained, for a game thats cool because we live for sequels and expansions, but for movies it really sucks. As a DooMer I knew what to expect and how the things should look, however, they totally destroyed what the DooM story is and has been for years. The way I thought it was going would make the movie and game better. Sadly yet another video game movie destroyed by Hollywood's coporate greed mongering. The only thing this shares with the game is its namesake. I had fun, but only because I was with my friends who made it fun. See it because its DooM, hate it because it destroys DooM.
  24. In the nutty wad they have a level all under water and tinted blue, I wanted to have an underwater passage that you fall into from a fountain thats tinted blue. So in other words I wanna make it so that it looks like you fall through water and end up waking through a flooded passage. I know it can be done and I have tried to mimic it, its just too damn hard. Im using Doombuilder, and I got it in Zdoom (Doom in Hexen mode). This is really frustrating me because the map is looking really good and this would make it ten times better, at least atmospherically. Also on a side note, how can I post screen shots for you guys to see? I would like to post some to hear your comments on how my projects are coming along. Thanks for any help in advance.
  25. yes the watermap thing works, im having trouble setting it to my tunnel as it doesnt have a control sector or a need for transfer heigths. Now that I got the watermap command the level is coming together. Just need to tweak it a bit more. Then im gonna work on my lava staion map.
