  1. I have the file doom2atc.zip from this site: http://www.gamers.org/pub/games/idgames/themes/aliens/ but I realize that this version of Aliens TC for Doom 2 was only available/only works properly for Doom 2 version 1.666. I don't have version 1.666. I've tried looking everywhere for a fix or a patch but nothing. I found a page related to this matter at this site: "http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/5422/alienstc.htm". The T.C. will run but everything is completely wrong (as in look and feel compared to the Aliens T.C. for Doom 1/Ultimate Doom)for some reason. Anyone have any ideas???
  2. Ok, me and a friend both have old/legacy PCs and we would like to play Co-Op Doom 2 again. Since we live close, a null cable modem would work just fine for a 2-Player game. However, I'm not sure which Null Modem is best suited for Doom, care to help a brother out? And beside, I can't seem to find Null Modems in the stores anymore, since they are obsolete. But I've looked on E-bay and I found this: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=so&sbrftog=1&from=R10&fstype=1&catref=C6&satitle=Null+Modem&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&fsop=1%26fsoo%3D1&coaction=compare&copagenum=1&coentrypage=search&fgtp=&floc=1&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D1&sadis=200&fpos=ZIP%2FPostal&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&so=Show+Items I was thinking that the first item on the list is probably the one that works, since the Serial Ports on back are Male ports, and these are Female Ports are something. But I'm still not sure and i don't want to make mistakes. If this is insufficient information, and you need the specs of those old PCs we got please ask, thanks!

Which null modems can work for a 2-Player game?

What is the default 8 N 1 9600 Capability in Null Modems , and how am I suppose to know which ones have it or not? And also, do you think this Null Modem would be good enough for me to start a 2-player game? http://cgi.ebay.com/10FT-NULL-MODEM-SERIAL-CABLE-DB9F-to-DB9F_W0QQitemZ5842719093QQcategoryZ64047QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Also what about shielding? Should I get a "shielded" null modem and not worry about EMI or anything like that?

    Idbest.wad runs with Shareware Doom?

OK, I'd like to help. I needed mostly the Doom 1/Ultimate Doom wads from the Maximum Doom set right now, I'll worry about trying the Doom2 set of Maximum Doom wads when I'm through playing through with the first 201 wads.
  5. OK, ok, I'm trying to recover all of the Master Levels for Doom II "Maximum Doom" set of WADs since I've lost the CD, and I'm sure the Maximum Doom level WADs are public domain, but the Master Levels are still copyrighted by ID software. I was looking around and I read somewhere that claims one of the Wads included in the Maximum Doom set of 3,000 levels, "idbest.wad" can run with shareware doom?! If it's true, then which version of shareware Doom? As in 1.x (assuming there is no 0.x versions, other than Beta demos)? Also how do you get Idbest.wad to run in the Shareware version of Doom. As I've tried using DOS executable, even Doom95.exe won't allow me, no luck so far. And if no body have a problem, can they explain why this wad works on the Shareware version? Was it an accident/bug that it somehow works with the shareware version of Doom, or did IDSoftware intended it to be that way?

    Idbest.wad runs with Shareware Doom?

Oh, ok thanks for the tip. I'm just trying to find back all of the WAD files for that Maximum Doom set, ever since I lost my Master Levels for Doom II CD. The good news was that I had the Master Levels backed up since I played them more, but I forever regret the day I lend the disc to my friend who claims he was going to give it back to me within 2 days, and then he said he lost it. ARGH! I always thought wad files (except registered /commercial versions of ANY doom.wad and doom2.wad, tnt.wad, plutonia.wad, and the 20 master levels wads) would be public domain just because they are available for free, but you are not allowed to sell them, just for personal use. I'm actually more interested in getting some help in finding any of the Wads that I can't find on this list: http://www.classicdoom.com/mlcdwads.txt I've found a whole bunch on the Maximum Doom set of Wads for Doom 1/Ultimate Doom across a whole bunch of wad servers, but not all of them.
  7. I can't seem to play a LAN game with a friend with the ZDoom Launcher. I've downloaded this file as well as ZDoom (downloaded 96.cab) "http://members.cox.net/carpenoctre/launchers/zdlaunch/zdlaunch26a.zip" Any ideas?

Can't seem to get ZDoom Launcher to run a LAN Game

never mind, the command line worked fine, at least when I edited them in the properties window
  9. So which 32-bit source port works best with Aliens T.C. on Windows? SInce DeHacked will not work with Doom95.exe, I need a recommendation of a source port that will work with the .deh files in Aliens TC as well as play with/against a few friend via LAN.
  10. AliensTC4Eva

Recommended Source Port for playing Aliens TC for Windows XP?

Which version of Aliens T.C.? u_alntc1.zip and u_alntc2.zip ? I can't seem to get the Doom 2 version (doom2atc.zip) to work properly on Doom 2 version 1.9 no matter what I do! Only solution I had was to downgrade the doom2.exe version from 1.9 to 1.666. But that's only for the DOS version. So I'm asking if you or anyone know how to get Aliens T.C.(preferably the Doom II version) to work properly on Windows XP and playing a multiplayer game via LAN.
  11. So far only the downgrade patch from 1.9 to 1.666 seems to be the only solution, no luck with loading the "atc2.deh" file into dehacked for version 1.9 It still has the same problems, I.E. on the first level of Aliens T.C. for Doom 2, the Eye in the Middle of some Green Object is still there instead of the new Gray Antenna Post looking object. Not to mention that there is no Alien Queen, but instead you will find a Spider Mastermind stuck in a cramped spot blinking, appearing and dissappaering. Everything looks completely ****** up! There can only be one other solution I can think of right now and that is if anyone knows how the person who converted Justin Fisher's Aliens TC wad and deh files for use with Doom 2, and what tools and utilities he used to convert them with. Then maybe it's possible to start from sratch and convert those files to work properly with Doom 2 1.9

Can't seem to be able to record a Demo with Doom95, any ideas

It worked, phew! Now I can create demos to help me memorize the location of all the keys and how to finish every level.
  13. I try to record a demo for Doom II on Map01 with the Doom95.exe file, I go to configuration set up everything, but before the game even loads the level, it gives me a Message thats like this: I_Error says: Demo (Name of the demo).lmp recorded. And then Doom95 closes when I click OK? Now here's what's bugging me, I never had problems recording demos in the DOS version but how come it doesn't work with Windows ? (Using Doom95 on Windows XP btw)

Can't seem to be able to record a Demo with Doom95, any ideas

Cool. Thanks! I'll let you know how it turns out ASAP.
  15. That patch is not for Doom 2 version of Aliens T.C., only Ultimate Doom's version, and I have no problems running Aliens T.C. on Ultimate Doom.
  16. @myk thanks for the patch. Although that seems like it's one solution. Is there any other way to get the "Doom 2 version" of Aliens T.C. to work properly on Doom 2 version 1.9 and all the other Source ports for 1.9 versions of Doom/U-Doom/Doom 2, such as Boom, Z-Doom, Legacy, etc. due to the .deh file in doom2atc.zip was originally written for Doom 2 version 1.666? Anyone have any other ideas besides myk's downgrade patch? @myk thanks for the patch. Although that seems like it's one solution. Is there any other way to get the "Doom 2 version" of Aliens T.C. to work properly on Doom 2 version 1.9 and all the other Source ports for 1.9 versions of Doom/U-Doom/Doom 2, such as Boom, Z-Doom, Legacy, etc. due to the .deh file in doom2atc.zip was originally written for Doom 2 version 1.666? Anyone have any other ideas besides myk's downgrade patch? @deathbringer If I had not played Aliens T.C. before how would I be able to compare, and figure out what was wrong with the Doom 2 version? I've use the Ultimate Doom version, which I believe is these two files that I've downloaded a long time ago: http://www.gamers.org/pub/games/idgames/themes/aliens/u_alntc1.zip http://www.gamers.org/pub/games/idgames/themes/aliens/u_alntc2.zip Anyways check this file out if most or any of you are still confused as what I am talking about. http://www.gamers.org/pub/games/idgames/themes/aliens/doom2atc.txt Now, only if someone knows how to convert a DeHacked file written for Doom 2 version 1.666 to Doom 2 version 1.9 then I guess my problems would be fully solved.
