Could you recommend some nice looking wads for Chocolate Doom?
dugan replied to Pixel Fiend's topic in Doom General
Sigil is very nice-looking. -
The THUD that the demons and spectres make when they die (and hit the floor) is a nice touch.
-
Fatboy. It was designed for retro games, and so far I haven't heard any cases where it sounds "wrong".

I'm playing this on HNTR in GZDoom, and I'm stuck at the end of E5M4, where final door to the exit (right past last bridge) won't open. In the YouTube movies I checked, it just opens after you get the secret backpack (which I did get). Do I have a compatibility setting that's incorrect, or something?

I like vkQuake.
-
When I bought it, I received a SendOwl link with 5 downloads allowed. They don't reset the download limit when they release new versions. If this keeps up, I'm eventually going to need to email someone (I assume using the contact form at romerogames.ie) to have my download limit reset, before I can download further updates.

Looking for some wads that are best played with modern gameplay mods.

No Rest for the Living -
Jimmy's "Title Screen - Lands of Ire" track is the hook from "A Past and Future Secret", by Blind Guardian, isn't it.
-
MBF is the limit-removing port I used to use, when I was playing DOOM in DOS.
-
Breach and DTWID.
-
I did manage to stop the crushers in a position where they could be walked through.
-
I played through it on I'm Too Young To Die (don't laugh; I can replay it on a higher difficulty later), and one thing I liked about it was how useful the chainsaw was. It was just the right thing for those small, tight corridors.

Like the Boomers in Gears of War.

You can edit the gzdoom ini file and add them there. https://zdoom.org/wiki/How_to_autoload_files

Two questions: 1. Which soundfont are we supposed play the MIDI soundtrack with 2. Which mods are everyone playing this with? For 2, I'm thinking of just using high-res sounds, the Minor Sprite Fixing Project, and gzdoom's brightmaps.

Is that a bit of Space Quest 3 I hear in the soundtrack? Space Quest 3: https://youtu.be/dxEP05TtOfE?t=48 https://youtu.be/dxEP05TtOfE?t=447 Sigil: https://youtu.be/ZOk8gJJAsrw?t=26

What maps have been designed with vanilla limitations/bugs in mind?
dugan replied to unerxai's topic in Doom General
Every level with an invisible bridge, including Plutonia map02. -
Wasn't that because Id Software was smart enough to reject (or at least massively pare down) everything Tom Hall suggested, while John Romero just went with everything Tom Hall said?
-
I recently learned about this soundfont. I haven't listened to it much yet, but it was at least made with the right intentions: https://fatboy.site/

Just played a tiny bit, and I immediately noticed that you incorporated the DOOM Minor Sprite Fixing Project. Thanks for that.
-
I saw the headline and I was going to ask if it was based on the ALIENS comic series.
-
What if Doom's popularity somehow spawned an animated series in the 1990's?
dugan replied to crazyflyingdonut's topic in Doom General
An MTV cartoon that resembles the comics isn’t hard for me to imagine. -
Press F4 (I think it was F4) to switch detail levels.

Playing Going Down (on HNTR) with Smooth DOOM, Bolognese, Perk's Sounds, and Sev's HUD. The combination works well, including for the final boss.
