Gez is right about that, I wanted to point it out, too. Nice find, fraggle, I don't think I could pull off finding anything of the equivant rarity :)

Operation C was quite (still would be... need that game!) fun :)

Hello. A bit earlier, I decided to go back to Assault on Tei Tenga since that was the first WAD I played with hub for Doom. But it also made me aware of ZDoom's features I never knew were implemented (internet was very limiting for me). Anyway, upon playing it again, I realized that I had a question back in the day about the wad which I never surfaced before (I have other questions as well, though). If it isn't for the fact that I have, up to now, been unable to work Opulent's demos, I wouldn't ask: -Could someone please let me know if jumping is permitted/necessary in this WAD? I ask because there is only 1 place where it seems necessary: there are transport trains on the second level, one's control is blocked off by crates. This(these) is just misc questions if anyone knows: -With the exception of the first level, might anyone know where the other level music tracks are from?

@Gez: Don't worry, I always watch demo's to the end without cutting off or changing focus. TimeofDeath: Yep, I do use a screensaver, but I usually move the mouse slightly every now and then to make sure it doesn't go into screensaver mode. But I disabled it and checked again (in case that's you meant :) ) and no cigar. I suppose it's tough luck on my end, unless someone is able to find the technicality behind it :P

Thanks for the link. EDIT: The demo keeps going out of sync around the time he kills all imps and the villain destroys the computer.

When I was very young, there was a version of Doom 2 on the computer i had. It had some option called "Netgame". It definitely wasn't a sourceport, but I'm not sure about all the version releases of Doom 2.

Funniest thing I've read in a while... :) -
When I played Doom 2 and first reached the SS Nazi's, I thought they said "Shoot double!" (when activated) "Who's leaving!" (when killed) Of course, I never played Wolfenstein that time, nor did I (still don't) quite know German. I only found out about what they really say when I had proper internet access.

While reading around the Doom wiki, I came across this screenshot: http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/File:Betalostsoul.png I've played the Press release beta version before and I'm positive I've never seen that level in the beta. I'm curious where the screenshot came from, because I've seen alpha/beta screenshots of the game from what I thought were all the sites existing, documenting the pre-releases. And is there a separate version of the pre-beta around?

Or it's also possible that it's from a mod. But also it could be just a different version of MBF, anyway. (notice the different sky texture)

Oh, I see. Thanks for the reply and info on that.

Well, I'm stuck, now. I've gotten to the red key part, but what do I do? EDIT: GAH! I could have sworn I already tried hitting open at the pillar... -
For me, it's just the music in that cat video that's creepy.

Thanks. I managed to beat it. However, I'm still wondering about a couple of things. -There is in fact a secret where a guy calls for help. He seems to be from another game, a cameo, which the protagonist mentions. -In the upper mines, there is a blocked-off path with a soulsphere on the other side of the gate. I don't know how to get there. - I collected 4 soul stones. I don't know where they go. Interestingly, I somehow wound up with 4 stones without finding all 4 secret tombs, so 1 of them couldn't be picked up. -How do I get Osyris' eye (is it?)? It needs a yellow skull key. -I came across some sort of hint about fire stones and guardian or something. Don't know where that comes in handy. -Jimmy91 mentions a Caco totem or something. Never came across that, nor do I recall it mentioned. BTW, I really do appreciate any help received.
-
Oh, I see, yes. Thanks for that. Here's some questions about the lower mines: -There's a switch which, when you press it, it says "no effect". I saw no use for this. What's it for? -There appears to be a guy calling for help behind a small wall or something. It looks like a secret area, but I don't know how to access it...
-
I don't quite understand what you mean. I tried walking backwards and it still teleports me...

Aw, now I'm stuck at the New City of the Damned. I remember the most recent thing I did was open up the East pass or something like that. I don't know where to go or what to do. There's like a door that doesn't open and a wall, if I hit space on it, it sounds like a lift is lowering, but it's probably on the other side. Also, there seems to be a switch on a wall, if I approach it, I get "teleported" to a nearby corner.
-
Yes, I recall picking up 2 power gems. I actually went back and entered the New City of the Damned, but it seemed like access was blocked off at the start (I was tired I guess, heh). Besides this, I don't mind the spoiler, is there supposed to be initially an inaccessible part to the lower mines?
-
I'm stuck at a certain spot: I've been to the Underdark Upper and lower mines. There's still a fairly large amount of the lower mines I haven't reached yet because it seems inaccessible from the part of the map I am. Are there more than 1 entrance to the lower mines? For the upper mines, I crossed the translucent platforms, hit a switch and the teleporter in there led back to the beginning. I noticed the other teleporter taking me to the top of the tower. The second bridge to the other part of the map hasn't risen yet.

There's a procedure you can use involving the program, Combofix. I'm unfamiliar with this. I recommend several of the PC Help forums out there that generally have success in helping out the people who post there (otherwise, the people who post often solve it themselves :P). Although I can't list all the best ones, I might suggest: Safer Networking Forums lavasoftsupport bleepingcomputer 5-star support forum (just a name) majorgeeks support forums techguy geekstogo forum theeldergeek forum

Man, I can't believe I didn't come across this sooner. Well, Dutch Devil and LizardCommando, there's 1 thing we have in common...:)

When I tried to click on one of the topics in this section, one of those scareware rogue anti-virus pop-ups appeared. This scared the crap out of me (not the false message, but the fact that I got this pop-up). Fortunately, I managed to stop it before anything critical happened. I considered two possibilities: 1) The computer itself has this first part of the infection 2) Perhaps some ads on Doomworld or maybe a vulnerability. I first tested out 1 by browsing the internet through lots of pages. Nothing happened and it seemed safe. Then I tried 2 by clicking into lots of threads and looking around these forums. Again nothing happened. Now I'm wondering how that pop-up appeared, did anyone else ever encounter this on the forums? It happened only once so far, just a few moments ago. Similarly, on a different site (but a different computer), the same pop-up appeared when I left the computer idle. Like here, it happened only once.
-
Both cases, it happened with IE8. I'm not exactly sure by when the browser is active, but the browser window was open and displayed the webpage. In the task manager, it appears as another iexplorer.exe and it doesn't appear in the taskbar at the bottom, itself. Maybe an image might be able to explain more than me: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Winfixer-message.png It looks like that, except it advertises System Security (and has the XP-style outline). Also noteworthy is that upon clicking on the thread (DNA Adolf Hitler one), the url box showed that I was redirected to something like madsecuritycenter or madsystemcenter. What got to me is that in both cases, it was for System Security; separate sites and separate computers.
-
It's not just any pop-up that you can close simply by clicking on the x or hitting alt-F4. Do you know much about rogue antivirus pop-ups? If not, they try to look like a genuine system error message and no matter what you click on (yes/no/the x in the corner), it'll open the fake av site and do much more. Due to the severity of such pop-ups, I am "throwing a fit", like you say since it appeared on Doomworld forums. @Fraggle: I tested my own computer to see if anything is wrong and there seems to be nothing (from which it appeared on cpczone). Currently at work, it appeared on doomworld. Like I said, it only happened once, and when: -On Doomworld, I clicked on a thread -cpczone, when I left the computer and came back in a little while

If you read my previous post, it pretty much solves your problem.
