I'm working on something, came up with a configuration for a fantasy planet system on which my MASTERWORK will take place.
Thoughts about how this will affect rotation, light, tides, quakes and sanity would be appreciated, I'm just scouting this idea to see where it goes.
Squiggly thing is meant to be a 'black' star / hole.

I imagine this system would be completely unstable (i.e. a slight perturbation would disrupt its balance), so even assuming it were somehow set up this way, and inhabitants placed on the planet, their existence would be short and highly unpleasant.
But hell, Larry Niven's Ringworld (at least as described in his initial book) would have collapsed, and the book is regarded as a sci-fi classic, so just make up anything you feel like to help the plot along.
there *is* a logical reason for this system to exist (and remember this is dn logic, and I'm not revealing the ideas yet.)
I have been reading conan the barbarian recently, bought a thousand page collection of Howard's stories (in their original, unfucked about with form) and I have to say it has been a revelation to me. I'm no longer focusing on a novel, but rather a series of short stories sprayed through time and space that are all part of some Mythical Big Picture.
So expect the first of these short stories soon. Hopefully, if all goes to plan, they will be presented in the style of the old pulp fiction magazine... 3000 - 5000 words each, front cover art featuring naked bondage chicks, ze works. Got nearly a hundred pages of notes in my little book, quotes, facts, people and places.
