  1. I remember getting a review of the 80s musical from my friend's mom as she was old enough to see it and remember it. She said it was hysterically bad and no matter how good it was everyone just kept laughing at the costumes. It was a gimmick to get people in to basically see how god awful it was. She said there was no plot, or story and it was just a bunch of unrelated songs thrown together, so those that didn't laugh were checking their watches. It was one of the three musicals that had commercials... for YEARS. Cats, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, and Wicked.
  2. That's a nice user name you have there. Sure would hate for someone to become zen3000.
  3. Doom 3 part 2! I don't think Doom will touch survival horror again, but they could make a new franchise.

    MORTALITY OF THE DOOM SLAYER

I assume the body inside the suit is dead and the suit is what's living. Then again, he was suitless at the start of Doom 4. Maybe the Doom Slayer and others are just clones and that's how they live forever. The next clone will have gone through what the last clone did, but that clone won't die. Or they'll explore the eternal loop where John Romero is Doomguy, but John Romero is also the Icon of Sin. So to break the eternal loop, Doomguy must travel to the past to kill Commander Keen in WW2 Nazi Germany to prevent Doomguy / John Romero from becoming Icon of Sin.

Because it will last 2 - 4 years before Google throws in the towel? Maybe Oculus wants him.

    Area 51

Out of 500,000 people who showed up to storm Area 51, you were the person smart enough to travel back to 1997, a whole 20+ years before the US Air Force expected your arrival. Even back then, the military installation was armed to the teeth with custom high fences, guard posts and a complex interior structure of underground rooms. Armed with only your pistol, with the Mission Impossible playing in midi form you are able to Doomguy run your way inside make it inside to find 'dem aliens and rescue green plasma technology. Area 51 is a grand two level excursion that flows nicely, has a lot of content to its levels, good fights, diverse locales and some custom artwork. There is a new reskinned hover beast, barrels and rivers full of yellow glowing ooze, yellow hazmat suited foes, and plenty of text to guide you as if you were in the real facility. You'll trudge through sewers, explore pristine clean rooms, trek through some unique architecture with deep lifts, sprawling staircases, big rooms and tight corridors. This .wad is dare I say 95% good to great and a real gem from the era, but the worst parts are the early lack of ammunition that gets balanced out over time and the use of pitch black corridors. There are monster closets and a few chaingun snipers, but nothing that truly hinders the experience for more than a few moments. Everything else is an enjoyable challenge that gets punctuated every so often with a revenant or a baron here or there. These are the beasts contained, but you'll mostly be slugging it out with humans, imps, specters and pinkies.. It has withstood the test of 20 years and was still an enjoyable 40 minutes to get through today. Your results may vary. Make sure to quick save!

    Good Movie Soundtracks

It's so tough to even remember good soundtracks. I own a lot on CD, but music streaming services just don't have them for me to remember they exist. Some soundtracks on streaming sites will have like 3 out of 20 songs. - Mortal Kombat - The Matrix Reloaded - Natural Born Killers - Lost Highway - House of 1,000 Corpses Memorable film soundtracks aren't a dead art, it's like video game music, designed to fit into the background while people are talking.

    Maximum Doom Level Order

I just go A - Z 1 - 12. It had an actual order on PS2 was it or XBox Doom 3 collector's edition. Oh there's 1,000+ other levels? I don't think I knew that and I own it. What's the proper order for Z!Doom?
  11. Sure. I don't play UltraViolence anymore.

    Unpopular Modern Opinions

Felt like a hover tank it was so floaty. In some cases it was tough to drive forward without it zig zagging. It was terrible during that xenomorph mission. I played on PC and I felt it was weird getting forced to use a keyboard for a game that on consoles lets you use a controller.

    Unpopular Modern Opinions

I expected that game to be like Shadowgate... nope. There's a lot more exploration and backtracking, but yes it's a walking simulator and while there were other walking simulators before it, the term appeared in a lot of reviews. Oh and like a lot of Unity garbage or walking simulators in general, there are no mirrors. Prodeus is a walking simulator and so is Dear Esther, dare I say the first. It was on par with a walk through Skyrim, but I didn't have to pay $10 for an hour of gameplay. Walking simulators are relaxing and easy to complete. Imagine if walking simulators were just called EstherHomes like MetroidVanias. I feel Dear Esther was the first and the true definition, but walking simulator didn't appear until Gone Home reviews. I was rather disappointed it was an hour walk through Skyrim quality visuals when in Skyrim I could be fighting things. Yeah driving it up walls, doing flips with it. That thing is so comically terrible they never brought it back.

    Doom: Annihilation update

That cover doesn't say DOOM to me so much as the font and the name say DOOM. I'm still looking forward to seeing the movie and giving it a fair shake since other straight to video movies from Universal have been fair.

    Unpopular Modern Opinions

Both popular opinions. - EA isn't evil, it just needs to support a lot of shareholders. Imagine a pack mule with 5,000 people on top and EA is the pack mule. - Epic Games Store isn't bad, it gives me all sorts of desirable free games. - Mass Effect 1 has all the glaring and comedic downfalls as Aliens: Colonial Marines, but you can fuck someone so it becomes a 9/10 game. - Shovelware isn't killing Steam, it's people being conditioned to wait for discounts and bundles that's killing game sales. - Shmups are dead, especially when there's only one at $50. - Waifus overcome less desirable genres like shmups. - Axiom Verge became popular because there are no official Metroids outside of Nintendo. Same for Stardew Valley. There were no Harvest Moons. - People bought Undertale, thinking it was an Earthbound game as it has similar art and its from a furry that created Earthbound fan games. The graphics are all over the place on that game. - Crypt of the Necrodancer is an awful game. It took months for the devs to get it to a playable state for me and then when they did it was awful. Two of my least favorite genres mashed up. The only thing that makes it good is the art and the music. - Good game art is 90% of what makes a good game. - Indie games are only popular because thank god you don't have to pay $60 for them. - Pixel art games suck and should be free by now. - Duke Nukem Forever is a good game once you get past the first two hours. - Borderlands (and many multiplayer games) is a terrible game that you have to bring friends with and that's what makes it a good game. They wouldn't be your friends if you didn't have a good time with them. - Aliens: Colonial Marines is a good game, with glaring issues. - Valve isn't the devil for making Steam, but Valve is for making lootboxes. - People that excessively like Portal, the Witcher, and Dark Souls seem like brainless quote bags. - People feel Spec-Ops: The Line is so underrated it's become overrated. - Braid isn't a masterpiece. It's quite bad. - Limbo is an overrated flash game with up for jump. - Nintendo needs to bring its Virtual Console to the Switch and we will see how well indies flourish. - Switch E-shop has filled with junk and that's why you see games on sale for 9 - 99 cents. - Gunpoint was stolen from the Art of Theft. - I'll end with a quote from my cousin's fiance "I like Fallout 76, because it's a different place to hang out with my friends online." Woah are you trying to get Doomworld burned to the ground from outsiders? Dark Souls isn't a hard game, I agree. Keep your shield up and you'll be fine. GTA5 is awesome and GTA4 had too much realism to social satire. I will judge how unpopular my opinions are based on the likes I get.
  16. You should all know that when you touch it... you become part of it. Doomguy is the only one special enough to be immune. I often do not go around touching orbs that scream at me. Although I suspect the bowling ball method to work.

    unpopular retro opinions

My real, unpopular opinion: Most N64 games are utterly forgettable. Dr. Mario is better than Tetris. I'll try to hit you with the most unpopular opinions I can think of... Super Mario World is a hidden gem. Does anyone even remember that game? Bubsy is awesome. You're just all idiots for dying to fall damage... BUBSY CAN GLIDE PEOPLE!!! CastleVania SOTN is terrible, because it relies on grinding like all terrible games. Why have skill when you can have time invested. Quake is better than Doom. Change my mind! SHMUP players get a lot of women. Prove me wrong! Zelda peaked at the second entry. MetroidVanias are adventure games, all you indie games calling your games MetroidVanias is just a way to file in and confuse search engines with better games. Batman: Forever is every bit as atmospheric and perfect as Super Metroid. Mario brought about furries with Mario 3's costumes not Sonic.
  18. Can't they just change it to 10N M41D3N?

Axiom Verge coming out Free to Epic Games

I bought it for $8. Well worth it, even if it's a blunt and lesser clone of Super Metroid wrapped as a rogue-lite or whatever it's called. I hope the free DLC comes to Switch soon. There's a lot of lesser known games that just have stupidly cheap sales on Switch. I wonder if that means games just aren't selling now that the system is 2 years or they're going with the "get it to the top of the sales charts" mentality. I've seen Switch games on sale for like 9 cents. It's also one of the few games that has the game for sale... and does Patreon. So maybe that's part of it. Cheap sell the game hoping to get people on board with the Patreon since that's more of a subscription deal?

    Castlevania Fans?

I love the series... then they had like 20 games I never played. People wonder why they don't make 2D CastleVanias... it's because when they do, no one cares enough to buy the games. That's what TV advertising is for. CastleVania IV, III, II are probably my favorites. Soundtracks for III and IV are still standouts to this day. I think I quit after the first game on GameBoy Advance... but I own all 3. I never finished the first and it was such a grand, extensive experience that I never felt the need to play the next two.
  21. Make up a rumor huh? Humans eat 5 spiders a year in their sleep. It's not a rumor if the Internet says it's true.
  22. I play lesser difficulties. My days of Ultra Violence are done. Some such as @Fonze's wad turns out to be far more challenging due to different enemies on lesser difficulties.

What would be your ideal doom movie?

    Screamers.
  24. Since this topic is bumped, I may as well share what I found out last month. A year ago on July 4th, the guy who did that video commit suicide. As much as we feel he was a quack, he is still better off alive than taking his own life. RIP Ronnie Edwards. Now to lighten the mood. I want to chime in and say that no game is in 3D, because they're made with what's known as code. So it's all just a bunch of text on a flat surface. So what we think is 3D is actually a flat surface on our monitors and not actual three dimensions like true reality is. Just because you have a X, Y, Z axis in a game is irrelevant when it's all just drawn to a flat surface. Even 3D TVs are still a flat, two dimensional surface. Is a canvas painting 3D? Is a drawing on a sheet of paper 3D? A diorama is 3D, but Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker is still a 2D representation of a diorama. You have your answers. * tips helmet * Good day to ye all midoomers.
