    Tool: Fear Inoculum

I have the Alice in Chains boxed set and I never opened it for a decade. Something that irks me is there were two "best of" CDs within two years, the latter with less music than the first. Then a third double CD "best of" within 6 years. That's the record label for ya, make that money. There are other boxed sets I have yet to open like a Tom Petty one long before his death I never opened. I'm weird where in the MP3 age I figured I'd open these things when I felt the need to. I'm happy I opened the Alice in Chains set as it's different from the actual CDs. Some stuff missing, some stuff added. Some of the old stuff sounds a big like Guns and Roses. As for vinyl, I have nothing on vinyl as that's not really my thing. If anything I see vinyl cases or covers as art to hang on a wall. The Lateralus CD was cover slips removing layers of the body which like a medical exam which was cool. Since Tool went digital again I've spent the past 3 or so weeks listening to mostly 10,000 Days with a few of the other CDs. I also have a bunch of Tool bootlegs from someone who claims to have basically followed Tool around for a concert tour in Europe during Lateralus. I can't say the CDs are all that different from one another so in a way it's not the most highly listened to stuff. It was $50 for a ton of shows. They were truly bootlegs, dirt cheap, ugly, ghetto, no labels, no covers, no cases, just a spindle. $45 for something with a flat screen and USB charger seems cheap, but yeah it's just insane to include that. It's genius and insane at the same time. Probably just the first printing and the next printings will probably be more typical and cheaper. Something that hurts when trying to find physical copies of Fear Inoculum is the fact the single has the same name. I don't think there's any physical copies of the single, but the downloadable song keeps showing up from the single. Also, in a digital age where songs are $1 each, I wonder how that fares with a 90 minute CD for $10. Pretty cheap. I trust that's not a thought any band has when making an album. Oh and so back to 7empest how it feels like the stand out song from a bland album. I read an interview where Maynard explained that guitar riff or song has been kicking around since the Aenima era. So wow the stand out song is a 20+ year reject.
  2. Funny thing is Mike does play quite a bit of Doom. James doesn't. Feels like the only games James really plays are the ones Mike makes him play. Then again James has a family, a job and everything else that can distract people from sinking into that video game Youtuber spectrum. In fact they've said that it was their Monday get togethers that let them find new bad games to review and improvise a script before James would hammer it out. The Beavis and Butthead one was such evidence of this. I think Mike is an all gamer. He does PC gaming with their sweaty friend Ryan and has videos for that. Or did... it's been a while since I've been subscribed to the channel. Funny how you can unsubscribe from a channel and Youtube still recommends that I watch AVGN, but none of the Mike & James play or the Mike plays PC games with Ryan. The gameplays with Ryan felt a lot like Ryan was given copies of new games for Mike to give the rub to. Then there was Bootsy that was good at the video games. They used to have him on, but for whatever reason he disappeared a few years ago. I always heard James (from James and Mike Mondays) couldn't live off his Youtube money, but thanks to the Internet for letting me know "the truth" (not that I was even searching for it specifically): https://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-celebrities/actors/james-rolfe-net-worth/ It must be 100% credible that he is worth $600,000, because a website that couldn't even come up with a picture of James Rolfe told me so.

    Tool: Fear Inoculum

You're right. $45 for a physical copy, but it does come with a 4" screen for visuals. $80 - $100 is never a normal price. It's literally $11 - $18 depending where you buy it from. I remember the outrage when Disturbed had its debut and it was hot and places wanted $24 for it. As for the Tool physical copy, I found this: According to an official description of Fear Inoculum, the limited edition CD “includes a CD in a tri-fold Soft Pack Video Brochure featuring a 4" HD rechargeable screen with exclusive video footage, a USB charging cable, a 2 watt speaker and a 36 page insert book and MP3 download card.” Read More: Tool's 'Fear Inoculum' Physical Copy Will Include HD Video Screen | https://loudwire.com/tool-fear-inoculum-video-screen-speakers/?utm_source=tsmclip&utm_medium=referral Here is a look at the wow factor. The insanity of including a 4" screen in 80,000 copies (from what I've read) of this thing: https://ultimateclassicrock.com/tool-fear-inoculum-packaging/ It does look awesome. I've got all their physical copies and the VHS boxed set behind me.
  4. After watching his gameplays I'm pretty sure his character is negative for the sake of negative. Are they his honest opinions when he's playing a character? I enjoy it too for the most part otherwise I just wouldn't watch. There are plenty of Youtubers that I've fallen off the band wagon or they themselves have fallen off the band wagon and switched the style of their videos or just stopped doing them entirely because they're too depressed, hooked on meth, or embroiled in scandals. If AVGN's old videos are too dated, you might want to try his Mega Man DOS video. I think that's the one that remakes some of his old videos. I'm happy he did the Nerd charity drive for the Shriner's hospital auctioning off all his props and scripts. He's had struggles with his first kid I do believe and nobody pays for the Shriner's, so again good cause. I saw his movie. It's quite an achievement to the character. I didn't like the first half, but that last half hour really picks up. It's a 90 minute intro into an E.T. review during the credits.
  5. Are modders already working on Duke Forever to make an Ion Fury / Ion Maiden TC?

    Tool: Fear Inoculum

According to the interviews I've been reading the band had an idea to make an 80 minute song and I feel this is as close as they come to doing it with how similar the tone and vibe is. @touchdown is right that you can pick elements out from other songs. Just as I can do with Nine Inch Nails songs. Musical crutches that managed to sound similar, but at this time of my second listening the other stuff that they've recreated just sounds better, more passionate, more intense, and fresher. Similar riffs and sounds are just everywhere that it sounds like they took B-sides from Lateralus and 10,000 Days and just added them to the album. Listening to it a second time, it's like Fear Inoculum picks up at like 8 minutes in. Pneuma picks up 8 minutes in, even if it picks up to a point that it sounds like a past Tool song. I think 7empest would be the "repeat" song... but that's it. Aenema, Undertale, 10,000 Days, Lateralus, and Opiate all have several songs for repeat, even if Radio won't play some of the risque or 10+ minute songs. My local metal / rock station even had some kind of PSA that they're not allowed to play the new Tool song until there's a 7 minute version. It's not that they don't want to, it's because their corporate overlords have rules. Some radio stations won't play songs over 5 minutes. On a side note, I am so happy Tool is back on Streaming after like a 10+ year legal absence. I can finally get rid of all my CD players. Going digital is a good way to get those plays when radio might be like 10 minute songs? We could either play you or 2 - 3 other songs. Although I notice that DVD / VHS album doesn't seem to be on the digital services. When they all say "complete discography" that is a glaring omission. It does have a CD in it!!! After writing this, I heard about Tool drama... so I looked it up. They were caught in a legal dispute that lasted 8 years? The guitarist had a friend that did art that appeared in the album and that art wasn't credited properly so the artist took up legal action and then Tool had insurance for this sort of thing so they took it up with their insurance company. Then the insurance company turned around and sued them for a technicality and Tool sued them back when in hindsight Tool should have just dealt with the art lawsuit on their own. Supposedly millions of dollars spent in legal fees... good thing they had those millions of dollars being a famous band. The insurance company kept opting to push the date back and wasting time and money, probably as a tactic. Then the trial finally happened and it switched venues and a different judge that probably wouldn't allow that shit to happen. Gotta laugh at the fact all these articles are from 2015 saying we could see new material by the end of the year. Here we are 4+ years later. Anyway, good that they have something fresh out and maybe they will keep the ball rolling to get more material out every 2 - 5 years again. I feel bad for the friend who made the art that took it to court. Maynard talks about him getting death threats over the years for not making a new album? What about this artist that triggered the whole thing that supposedly delayed this album by 8 years? ... then another 4+ years because Tool takes time and they're older with kids now. Amazingly Rammstien has kept the same 6 guys for what 25 years now? Sorry for that long rant. I don't usually get to talk about Tool to anyone for the past decade or so.

    Tool: Fear Inoculum

Well... it's out. Upon the first listen, all the songs blend together with maybe the exception of Chocolate Chip Trip since it's instrumental and 7empest. 7empest is perhaps the best since it picks up the intensity and it had the instrumental bridge to cleanse the palette of whatever full hour of music there was before it. 86 minutes and 10 tracks for an album wouldn't be as bad if some of the songs actually stood out. With Tool being so old and with me being so bored with the first 2/3rds of the album, I was left to wonder, would this have made Tool a star back in the day? I think 7empest would, but Tool used to be fun and have silly songs that are even still pertinent jabs at media. I also feel Mockingbeat could have been put somewhere in the first 60 minutes to break up the monotony even if there are two other shorter songs between the abundant number of 10+ minute jams. Maybe this will grow on me.
  8. I remember when I was little I heard random bigger kids on the playground say faggot and that was like my new favorite word for a month. I used it all the time. No clue what it meant, when I was 6 - 8 it just felt like such a fun word to say. Little did I know it means a bundle of sticks. Hence why cigarettes are called fags as it is a bundle of cancer sticks. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faggot_(unit) Now and probably then too its some kind of negative slang. Oh and the older kids that used the word were getting a bundle of sticks since the playground was at a campground. I feel the need to elaborate as now we can't say words that are seen as negative slang. Otherwise it's seen as a hate speech and not an innocuous story from the past.
  9. Anti men? Men shave. Women shave. Best to be all inclusive because their market is adults that shave places. Plus didn't they used to have the slogan: "Gillette, the best a man can get." I assume this is why so many professional game reviews involve so many anecdotes about their own life or the game's development rather than sticking to a review about the game. Gotta pad that review somehow. That and 1,400 words seems like the magic number so many reviews end at.
  10. You'd be amazed how many people with bachelors, masters, and Ph.D.s find 12 year old humor hilarious or poop jokes. Not my thing of course, but I've found around my area, the smarter a person is the dumber their humor is. I feel a lot of comedy comes from the unexpected. Taking what you'd expect and giving you something different and comedy happens. Chances are in any game, you're playing a game and so you don't expect something like an Oil of Olay parody to be thrown in there. Maybe another game reference like "That's one doomed space marine" or "power armor is for pussies" or a dead body with an arrow in its knee. Those feel more like references and less like comedy or parody (which is a form of comedy). At some point putting a hamster or gerbil in a microwave was considered comedy and not horrific in the original Maniac Mansion, because you don't expect it to be allowed.
  11. Since they're adding the soap again, some have speculated they never intended to follow through with the mandatory sensitivity training or the $10,000 donation. Although now they've said they'll still go through with that, they just aren't removing the soap. Ride the wave of publicity. Make friends of your enemies with bribery. I haven't seen the soap so I don't know how an Oil of Olay parody called oGay is homophobic other than the word Gay is the butt of a joke. Maybe they should have called it "oNeigh the sope for horses!" Then women that use the soap would possibly be offended at being called horses, but if no one gets offended by the franchise name "Dress Barn," because you're as big as a barn animal logic, then I fail to see how it would offend here. If ya bored... ya talk about stuff whether its picking a side or throwing out your own random opinion, cuz why bother having social media or a forum if ya can't wreck it up with opinions likewise or different or indifferent.

    Breaking Bad sequel trailer

That's more of a nothing teaser than a trailer. Isn't it a movie? I keep waiting for Better Call Saul to get better.

    The Doom timeline.

I used to know this all by heart. Anyway, someone on gamefaqs usually keeps track of all timelines via year dates in game. The Mortal Kombat timeline is fascinating. I'll try to ballpark what I remember... GEO CAN REMEMBER? Doom 3 (I can argue my way that it happens before Doom 1 to set it up), Doom 1, Doom 2, Doom 64, Final Doom (hell arrives from Jupiter on flying saucers, someone back me up, it's that crazy right?), Doom 4. And as we all know my 100% flawless accuracy that Doom 2 loops back before Doom 1 & 3 since you do go back in time to Nazi Germany to kill your father as a boy to ensure that you do not become the Icon of Sin and Doom Earth. WIKIA'S TIMELINE Here's what Wikia has to say... I won't link it since the site is evil, but I will quote it: 2018 - The military, UAC's biggest supplier, has used the remote facilities on Phobos and Deimos to conduct various secret projects, including research on inter-dimensional space travel.[4] 2019 - The Marine assaults a superior officer, and is transferred to Mars, home of the Union Aerospace Corporation. 2021 - July 1 - DOOMNL 01-D19305-1C is published.[5] 2022[5] March 15 - Mars receives a message from Phobos base stating that the base is under attack and requesting backup.[5] A few hours later, the marines land and try to stop the invasion. The Marine is ordered to stay behind and protect the perimeter. The marine forces are wiped out or turned into monsters. Planetary authorities send the final Marine the new DOOMNL 01-D19505-1D replacing earlier manual (now including briefing for the Marine, and images from the invasion captured by remote video cameras. The video data was computer analyzed by the UAC and the results are provided "here and only here")[6]. The Marine leaves the escape pod vowing to take down as much of the invasion force as possible before death. Knee Deep In the Dead begins as the Marine arrives in the Hangar Atrium. Knee Deep in the Dead ends as the Doom marine is ambushed by the forces of hell upon arriving on Deimos, and presumably dies. Shores of Hell begins as the Doom Marine finds himself alive somehow, and pushes against the forces of Hell. Shores of Hell ends as the Doom Marine rappels down the surface of Deimos, discovering that it is now orbiting above Hell itself. Inferno begins as the Doom Marine arrives on the surface of Hell. Inferno ends with the Doom Marine killing the Spider Mastermind, the general of the Phobos and Deimos invasions, and 'rewarded' with a gateway to Earth discovering Earth has been invaded and his pet Rabbit is killed. Thy Flesh Consumed begins (an interquel of sorts inserted after Shores of Hell and before or during Doom II). The Doom Marine continues to fight in revenge for his dead pet Daisy stopping the Spider Mastermind's invasion force sent through to earth before he got there. But he is unable to prevent Hell on Earth. Meanwhile, a Marine stops a demonic invasion on the UAC Mars Base on Mars over the course of a few days. He is given leave to return to Earth. He was the only survivor on Mars. He returns to earth in a drop pod only to discover it has been invaded by the Demons from the Outside.[7] Doom II begins No Rest for the Living begins The Doom Marine continues his battles on Earth after Hell's forces were seemingl vanquished, and is forced to travel to a pocket universe to stop another demonic threat.[8] The Union Aerospace Corporation is entirely reformed, as the original stockholders, trustees and management were killed in the invasion of Earth, and begin managing two projects; one in an unknown jungle, and the other on one of the moons of Jupiter. TNT Evilution begins with the Doom Marine, the last surviving marine Jupiter moon base, once again fighting against the forces of Hell. TNT Evilution ends with the Doom Marine destroying the Demon-spitter The Quantum Accelerators succeed in their maiden test, however fail in their second activation leaving one Gate left open for the forces of Hell to 2023 Yearly supply ship reaches Jupiter's moon. Demons use it to invade the UAC base there. The Plutonia Experiment begins as the Doom Marine fights against the forces of Hell again after arriving via pickup truck. The Plutonia Experiment ends with the Doom Marine destroying the Gatekeeper, swallowing up the final demons and the accelerator. The fatigued Doom Marine is decommissioned, and the military DOOM Episodes are classified. The UAC's bases are sealed, and quarantined by radioactive bombardment. Years Later[9] Mother Demon survived in radiation of bombarded planetary space installation. Shielded in the radiation it resurrected the demons mutrinf them into stronger and more vicouous forms. Doom 64 begins. The Doom Marine is re-commissioned to stop and the latest invasion, he stops the Motherdemon's forces which had been building in the former battlegrounds he failed to clear. Doom 64 ends. The Doom Marine decides to stay in Hell to prevent the rise of another demon lord after destroying the Motherdemon.
  14. I bet this makes all the gaming news sites like everything @Linguica does. I also bet that Half-Life 3 has Half-Life 1's sound effects.

Would it be out of the question to see some images with the outlines fatter?
  16. Nukem II was a lot of fun:
  17. Anyone see the last AGDQ with Chex Quest? I feel like he saw the AGDQ run of Chex Quest and decided to make a video on it. Odd he's become a parody of himself "I haven't said fuck enough times in this video." Why did he cover it when he gave it a passing review? Because of his new budget for being part of Amazon Prime? He's like the Lego movie, but "everything is awful! Everything is cool when you're bashing a game!" In all seriousness, good video. I thought he lost a step back when he had a video or two that felt like just him on a webcam without the craziness.

Returning to Doom after six year break

Welcome back marine! As you can see these space bases and tech facilities have been overrun with demons! It's a never ending fight and its up to you to clean these facilities with your shotgun and paint the halls red. Get to it!

    ion fury is out

I tried reading some of this, but it's like wow. Are we talking about the game or everything around the game? The game looks great, even if it might lose some of its charm being overly detailed. I look forward to playing it. Now I will insert a joke that perhaps they can have a playable Duke Nukem DLC.

    Least favourite weapon and why?

Fists... but that could be expected. Short range. Punchy. Everything in Doom is good or good enough. So let's jump to Daikatana... many of the weapons are terrible. The Ion Blaster can hurt you under water, there's some giant bouncing ball that can hurt you. It's all cumbersome to use. I'll go with the Shockwave Cannon.

    The BFG's "arm"

Colin Farrell in it who has fallen from great heights to "leading man of box office bombs." Amazingly Total Recall's remake made almost 200 million and cost 125 million. Arnold made those 80s movies. He knows what Andy Kaufman knew... people love broken English. Kobra Kai is awesome.

    New Picard trailer just dropped

I for one am happy to have proof there's something beyond the DS9 timeline in the alpha quadrant to prove that Odo's people didn't take over. DS9 so underrated it's become the most overrated. While we all love TNG and Picard... this won't be TNG. I fear it will be more like Discovery where you better like the main storyline, because that's 80% of the show. A lot of fans seem to just want that early 90s version of Trek and not the giant budget Trek that it's become. I was fearing for a while it would be old Picard reciting his memories from pre TNG, because that franchise loves to go to the past and not the future. As Rick Berman said it's a struggle going to the future, because how much more futuristic can you make a futuristic star ship? With Seven of Nine on board it can't fail! Voyager still somehow manages to be one of Netflix top shows. Also didn't Brent Spiner say he's retiring as Data, because Data can't age, while he has. Speaking of Data, there was a fan theory going that Lore was Data for an entire season and Data is that third android they found to end Nemesis with.
  23. I go into movies blind and it enhances the experience, because I don't know what I'll see. I haven't seen that much of Doom Eternal other than that teaser. It looks like Doom 4, but with a grappling hook and sword arm. Oh and arachnatron scorpions.
  24. I use a lot of fake names when ordering food, that's how I know if I end up on a list somewhere. With the last Pizza Hut I ordered from myself 4 years ago (5 looking at it), I was a regular customer ordering once or more a week for $25+ and picking it up. I'd always use fake names like Alf, Alfie Fergisson, and Gordon Shumway. Well finally one of the managers got tired of it and yelled at me when I walked in that they almost didn't make the order... well I had been doing that for a full year, I felt I was lightening the mood on someone's rough work schedule. Plus it's their job to make me a pizza when I order it. There are people in the world named Alf and Alfie. After that I never returned. Literally a post on it: Apparently I talk about pizza hut a lot: Oh and now some states have approved everyone in the state will get $15 minimum wage in the coming years as they work up to it. Awesome until you realize employees get paid more and robots will just replace us all. I can even tie this to Pizza Hut restaurants closing. Anyway... rest in Pizza Hut.
