Our DirectTV went out for the first time in 7 years, and my mother is on the phone trying to deal with them. There is no reception in perfectly clear weather. No cables are cut, no birds are nesting in the dish, and yes the bill was paid... cause I'm the one that pays it (paid last week with a confirmation number).
She is livid she doesn't have service and cannot get a repair technition for another 5 days. Apparently DirectTV is very important to her, at 10 am even if she has enough DVDs to build a house, and enough on her TiVO to last her 5 days.
She is now demanding to speak to the president of the company after being on the phone for 45 minutes, and having the call dropped 3 times whenever they switch her to someone else.
Normally I handle these things, but I just came home, she's on the phone and now she's intent and angry, so she doesn't want to give up the phone.
Now she just told me... we can't get service for 5 years, it looks like we'll have to get a new service. Yep that's it... can't get service for 5 days so we're going to get a new service that won't be installed for another 5 days. Clever!
All of this seems very white trashy. Unemployed woman wants her TV at 10:17 am, and demands to speak to the president.
