    Doom Builder Bugfixing

This isn't really a bug but a very annoying limitation. One of my ACS scripts is 1880 lines long. Doom Builder hangs when I try and get it to edit the script.

    Doom Builder Bugfixing

Are you sure you fixed the "Error 424: Object Required" bug? I just experienced it again, with version 1.2b. It, as usual, occurs when I put a wall texture onto a flat and try to view it in the 3d editor. However, I think I saw the '?' marks on the flat that had the wall texture. That was a split second before it crashed. Then I tried it again: same result.

Tried out 1.2 beta. The script bug is gone and I've yet to see the other discussed bugs in version 1.1.

    Doom Builder Bugfixing

Gherkin, Good to have you back tweaking Doom Builder and being driven crazy by all the bugs. :) Thanks for deciding not to run out on us. I will try my best to reward you by finishing "Claustrophobia" before Christmas (or maybe right on Christmas, as I did with "The Lost Seraphim"...). Doom Builder has, for the first time, changed the way I edit. P.S. I like the editor so much that I would've used the editor anyway, even with all its bugs.

    The /newstuff Chronicles #155

The review of Erik Alm's sounded too harsh when it comes to the skill 4 thing. He DID say in his text file that 90% of doomers should play it on skill 2 and that skill 3 is already a challenge. My yet-to-be-released wad has the same idea, where skill 4 is for those that have played it REALLY often and skill 3 is what you shuold play on the 1st time through.

    DWBS

I just visited doomworld's /idgames archive. I was surprised somewhat - very nice idea. Not that I'd expect anything less from Ling. Oh yeah, happy b-day doomworld. I grew up on this site. :)

    Type O Positive

Played through bloodworks. Very nice. Lots of 3d floors/architecture and the gameplay's good as well. The music didn't quite fit the mood for me, but that's about the only noticebale flaw. That blood fountain texture really did make it look like it was a blood-harvesting place.

Omg no! Ruinbros has excellent gameplay! Then again, that's coming from a guy who berserks/tysons Barons of Hell for fun... But still, it's not THAT difficult. I only needed 2-3 saves to beat the entire level set.

Uhh.. :( I just read the README.INCOMING file in the /pub/idgames folder of ftp://3darchives.in-span.net. It says I cant include MP3s in my wad as music files if I am to upload my wad over there. Is it ok to break that rule or do I have to find a way to get around that?

    The /newstuff Chronicles #114

I just found a nice solution to my dilemma and decided to do what I want regardless of wad size. Thx for everyone's feedback anyway. The solution I implemented was to reduce the MP3 file quality some and, using an MP3 mixer, cut out and use only the parts I need. The file size will still be around 4-5MB, but that's as big as "The Lost Seraphim" (seraph.zip), so it shouldn't pose a problem. I'm not saying anything else except that it will be released soon. I've already spoiled it somewhat. :)

I have a question about wad size. Let's say there's a wad with only 2-3 small levels. That's 500KB at the most. Would anyone have any issues downloading that same wad, with ACS scripts and atmospheric MP3 music added to it, even if the size would then be around 9-10MB? Yes, I might be alluding to something here, but before I go into any details I'd like for as many people as possible to answer whether they would find it a bother to download such a large wad for so few levels.

The Doom Community's Most Lovable Designer Is Hurt

If this thread is dead, what would be an appropriate thread to test your theory on? It might be the truth, but hopefully it isn't, else I'm going to have to think of a sequel myself, and I already got a helluva lot of wads I'm working on.

Hyena: try using psxmusic.wad - it helps a lot.

The Doom Community's Most Lovable Designer Is Hurt

3.5 hours?? I'm glad I'm in America. :) And OMFG NO! We CAN'T be the only two people who care. I refuse to believe it. Ok then, just to test Ebola's theory, how about this: if you're reading this and you liked N'imrod and want to see something like that again, say so by posting it on this thread.

    Space Station Omega

Very, VERY nice. Not only good gameplay/architecture but good scripts/story as well. The scripting was well-done, right down to that last scene with the plasma gun... Important note: for me, it plays really well with psxmusic.wad - it makes this map's mood very Resident Evil/Silent Hill-ish. It's 48 megs but worth it. Hell, it's good for any wad that doesn't provide good music. Here's the link: http://www.doom2.net/~elbryan/wads/musicwads/PSXMUSIC.WAD

The Doom Community's Most Lovable Designer Is Hurt

Uh.. damn. Having up-close seen my share of accidents of similar nature, I bet that one hurt like hell and the some. /sry, but Virgil isn't not too good at showing his sympathy *sigh* It had to be one of the 1337est mappers in the world. :( Get well soon you frad. I wanna see N'imrod II for DOOM III. :D

He'll die tonight?? Hold on a second.. ... /Virgil goes to Hell, kicks Satan's ass and then goes to Heaven and kicks God's ass and forces each one to promise they'll let Carmack go back to Earth if he arrives at either location. Ok, now where were we? :D

You're damn right we are. Brats, too. I see a new wadmaker has joined the doom ranks, too. This a very very happy day for Virgil. :)
