    Doom on vista?

Is there a program that allows you to play doom on vista? Something like zdoom preferably, zdoom however only goes up to XP.
  2. Where are the two super super secret levels in Momento Mori 2? Not the regular two secret levels, i.e. maps 31 and 32, apparently there are two more that arent contained within mm2.wad but are somewhere else in the package.
  3. I know that UV Max demos were recorded by Yonatan Himself for HR, where can I find these? Of similar interest are UV max demos for HR2 Momento Mori and Alien Vendetta. The Doom wiki did'nt have them all and compet-n doesnt have links to all of them. Is there some other source I've overlooked? Is it possible that not all of them are available for download? Thanks And apparently there is a demopack for scythe as well. Is there one for Scythe 2? Come on guys... Im jonesin hard, I got the itch.
  4. I have Windows XP running on my 24 inch iMac. ZDoom runs perfectly so I can play Doom with that, but I've recently come upon a delightful collection of demos that I want to watch, but since most of them were recorded on Doom version 1.9 I can't watch them on ZDoom. (of course) My problem is that I can't even get Doom2 version 1.666 to run. When I click the executable the start up script runs and the screen goes black (like I remember from 1994) but then it just shuts itself off. I suspect its turning off because of my huge display. (native resolution is 1920 X 1200) Its possible that all I'm looking for is a command line parameter for window mode. -windowed isnt it, Im all out of ideas.

I can't run Doom with my big-ass mac

Thanks. Problem cleared up. The only problem now is finding the right demos.

I can't run Doom with my big-ass mac

How do I run custom PWADS and LMPs on Chocolate Doom? The exe doesnt have a command line in the properties like doom2.exe does.

    Doom disturbed me.

I was around five years old when Doom came out so it has left an indelable mark on my psyche that I am only now starting to reconcile with. My brothers were old enough to play the game when it came out, so I would always sit by the computer and watch them play, and when they left and I got a chance to play I considered it to be a chance to access a Holy Grail of "Big Boy" experience that was titillating, exciting, and a bit disturbing. There was even a bit of guilt associated with playing it because if my Mom happened to walk by she would scold me for playing such a disgusting game. "You will get nightmares!" And I did. Not all at once, but every now and then I would have a nasty dream that somehow involved Doom. I remember specifically the ending of episode 3 frightening me so badly, that whenever I played any non-shareware episode I would frantically turn the game off before the text melted away revealing some ill-concieved horror. The ending of Heretic episode 3 instilled a similar reaction, and didn't help my condition concerning episode epilogues. Only recently, upon rediscovering Heretic did I look fully upon the horror that ended up being the Heresiarch, or did I wait a couple minutes after the text ended on episodes 4 and 5 only to discover there wasn't any epilogue picture at all for those episodes. A recurring nightmare involved a similar experience to the melting away of the text at the end of an episode. In the dream I would be playing Doom and was unable to turn off the game before the epilogue picture revealed itself. In the dream it would be some sort of demon skull with the words "Damn! That is ugly!!" underneath it, then I would wake up soaked in sweat. Does anybody else have similar stories? Or has a thread like this already been made?

    Doom disturbed me.

The sound track to Doom2 map 31 scared me a lot. Not to mention the Angel of Death level of Spear of Destiny. Of course I was a lot younger when I played SoD, so that revamped music brought back bad memories.

    Doom disturbed me.

Doom never really "scared" me, it just affected me in ways that I never really recognized until I was asleep. Only the bunny really made me jump.

    Kama Sutra Secrets

The Only big secrets in any megawad that I really care about are those that lead to the secret levels. Because of that, I ask how to access the two secret levels in the megawad Kama Sutra?

    Doom disturbed me.

Its not military base, its Phobos Anomoly (E1M8) you're thinking of. Or House of Pain (E3M4).

    Funny.

    Doom disturbed me.

Wow. I have no idea how you could have thought of all that. Shows how a lack of exposition affects a storyline, or lack thereof. Maybe you're just more creative than me, I don't know.

    Doom disturbed me.

I just watched it again and I changed my mind. It does look more like a tree, or stick.

That building on fire was supposed to be a city back on Earth ravaged by the armies of Hell. The rabbit was explained in the episode 4 ending as being Doomguy's pet rabbit Daisy, who was decapitated by the demons.

    Doom disturbed me.

I don't think it was on a pike, it looks more like Doomguy's arm. Of course this is hindsight after having seen the episode 4 ending which shows Doomguy with daisy's head in his hand, so... I don't know. Just a thought.
  17. Is it just me, or is the thing you see at the end of episode 3 of Heretic look a lot more like the Heresiarch than Korax? It is implied in the text that it should be the second Serpent Rider but the Heresiarch isnt a Serpent Rider is he?

    Doom disturbed me.

Me too! It didn't come to that, but I did always find it unnerving if I stared at it too long. Maybe it is because it doesn't move?

    Doom disturbed me.

My Dad bought me all of these games when I was young, and I remember getting really embarrassed and red-faced when I came upon the girly section in E1M2 with my Dad watching over my shoulder. I would make sure that noone was in the house before playing that map...

Episode 3 of Heretic - Heresiarch?

Sorry. I think that the Heresiarch is a much cooler boss monster than Korax. Personally I hate the way Korax looks. He just looks big and klunky and stupid while the whole hooded figure motif of D,Sparil, Heresiarch and the dark minions of Heretic and Hexen are a much better theme for the serpent riders. By the way, why is D'Sparil the only Serpent Rider who rides a serpent?
  22. All I have to say is in the subject line. I bought Hexen a while ago on CD-rom and now I want to play it on zdoom, but all I can do when I put the cd is run the auto-run. I can't install it regularly because Hexen doesnt support Windows NT or higher. (Earlier I played hexen on an older computer that had Windows 98 on it.)

How do I run Hexen on Zdoom?

Yeah. Thanks for all your help in this manner. Now if only I could find my Heretic cd...
