I like the idea, but because of the way Doom does everything ELSE, I have suspicions about it being convincing. Three to seven shots, pause, move, reacquire, fire, pause... if he were able to take cover and things like that, or act in any smart way, that'd help, but this is pretty much just going to make the chaingunner a less formidable opponent. Compensate by using more of them. :D However, the smoke idea is nice, too -- i like the idea of player weapons and enemy weapons firing smoke puffs upward to dissolve... Working the translucency might hurt a bit, unless used in GZDoom.

Upon reading the headline here, I figured it was suicide-related, like a failed attempt, or the guy set it up so he could go get one last cup of coffee before stepping off the chair. You are REALLY stretching here, and doing something simple in a needlessly complex way. You can place your blood decals directly on the walls. Check the ZDoom wiki for decal information. You can use ACS to do it perhaps somewhat randomly, but it'll still be cleaner.

Here's an idea to flesh out a new weapon at least somewhat creatively: What are the artistic and conceptual FEATURES of the weapons you like? Polymer construction? Bullpup/reversed trigger and magazine? Vented barrel? Under-barrel weaponry? Integrated optics? I bet this post gets ignored though, and somebody goes "OMG LOLOLZ I WNAT XM8"

Cool, I'm there now, will download Sapphire as well because I was looking the other way when it came out, though the "promotional" screens looked pretty good. OR, WELL, I WOULD, but the download button on the Sapphire page seems to be broken. Will try /idgames. Might I suggest that you revise your navigation to be a bit more apparent? And could you possibly embed top and bottom of page ads rather than the one on the side? The frame sucks, and it's very distracting. I have to scroll horizontally on the main frame at 1024x768. Udder: 9 megs? I thought at the top it said 2.9. I just downloaded a 3.1 meg updated version (Torm mentioned on the ZDoom Forums that he did some rebalancing, apparently the filesize was affected). If the point of confusion was that he typed "2,9" rather than "2.9," keep in mind in the future that a lot of places east of the Atlantic use a comma to separate decimals rather than a period.

Use the extension "Nuke Anything Enhanced" and you should be able to right-click and delete, if the snow has its own layer that you can hit... I've used it to "fix" issues with Myspace pages and the like (they're pretty horrible).

Well, I was specifically referring (in poor language, sorry) to replacing "Entryway" with "Dark Star," graphically and in text, for instance, but if you can come up with something relevant and unintrusive for a TITLEPIC/INTERPIC, it could work. Doesn't seem quite right to add what you might consider your own artwork to what should be a pure compilation, though it's done with books and music. If this is for sure a ZDoom thing, MAPINFO should be able to override the level names without using any graphics. Space-saver.

What about redone intermission level name graphics and dehacked text? Hmm, offhand, I'm not sure /idgames could take a simple repackaging of the same content, even if permitted. If it were a third-party fix or something, I've seen those uploaded before, but I'm not sure here. That's off the top of my head, of course. But some added features (level title graphics/text) could make it the repackaging relevant.

For those just joining us, Jehar forgot to mention that the mapper is Michael Krause, author of, most recently at least, Dark Star, the last map /idgames has from him. (EDIT: WHOOPS THAT'S IN THE TITLE) So, texts do allow redistribution? But the original maps are all vanilla maps, right? This means ZDoom will be required. Discuss. :P
