  1. That would be ironic as hell if the deal originally thought to be ACTA 2 ended up killing the deal that actually did end up becoming ACTA 2...
  2. Wasn't that the thing where they would get fined for every IP address they didn't investigate? People thought France would go dark because of it. I do hope you're right, but remember that Big Content has been trying to get this sort of thing passed for well over a decade (SOPA, PIPA, ACTA, TPP/TTIP etc.) so I doubt they would've pushed for this if they knew it'd backfire.
  3. You mean the age verification thing for porn sites? Or is there something else tucked away in there?

    Whats your favorite animes

I tend to lean towards sci-fi/fantasy with plenty of action/adventure (particularly if the world/setting is unusual), but I like plenty of real-world ones too (historical or contemporary) and even the odd slice of life. Overall - Black Lagoon, Ronja the Robber's Daughter, Heavy Object, Arslan Senki, One Punch Man, Natsume Yuujinchou. Seasonal (2018) - Amanchu, Overlord, Yama no Susume, Golden Kamuy, Double Decker (Doug & Kirill)

    Ducks

    Surprised no-one's posted these yet...
  6. I believe there were street protests in Eastern Europe against ACTA.
  7. Time to bump this, as the next vote is just over a week away. (12th)
  8. Bear in mind that this hasn't actually killed it off, it's sent it back to the negotiating table for changes. (due Sept 10-13th) And there's a disturbing amount of finger-pointing going on from the elites...blaming Russian botnets and fake news etc. for the wave of activism that won the day. It's now a standard excuse for anything they don't like (Trump, Brexit etc.), and sadly most folks are falling for it nowadays. IIRC that was shot down with a huge majority (something like 4:1 or 5:1), this was only just defeated by a whisker.
  9. Because it's the one distribution channel (news, info, entertainment etc.) they currently don't control.

Expansion Packs: Your best, okay, and worst

Malice is pretty good, though not without flaws. I remember the controls being a bit screwy (IIRC turning speed was the opposite of what it should be with run mode on/off), which led to a weird but oddly fun movement style (this was the original CD version though, and I don't think I was using the mouse back then). No armour/powerups but you get some cool gadgets instead (notably a hoverboard), gameplay is fast and no melee weapons but secrets are a real pain (many aren't classed as such) and some maps are a little confusing. It has a neat cyberpunk/dark future/dystopian atmosphere though, with a soundtrack to match (probably the best pre-synthwave method of doing one IMO) Worth checking out though, especially if you like that kind of setting.

Cacowards 2018 Mentionation Thread (don't toot your own horn ffs)

Quirky Domain - mindbending at times. (edit: fixed link, damn this new forum software)

Expansion Packs: Your best, okay, and worst

There was also a distinct absence of ambient sounds, that greatly enhanced the original and the other mission pack.

Have a look at this improved version for UT: (lots more maps for a start) https://unrealarchives.com/return-to-na-pali-ultimate-edition/

    Worst Ending in a videogame?

XS - you win the tournament, escape with the prize, then get shot in the head. HL* - you've just been on a very long journey and "oh you're a corporate-controlled slave". Opposing Force even worse (locked up forever) and HL2 because it never got finished. (only Blue Shift had a reasonable ending, and even that was simply a side story) Hotline Miami 2 - NUKEM (get them before they get you) That's pretty much every Speccy game that ever existed. (that is, when it's not sending you back to the start and maybe flipping the screen or making all the enemies hardmode etc.)
