The Official 'Trying to Find a Specific WAD' Thread
invictius replied to gruntkiller4000's topic in WAD Discussion
This one I think was gzdoom and I think there was a hub at the start where you could pick different themed episodes. That may not sound very specific but I remember one of the themes being industrial/factory. Wasn't la-worlds. -
any way to force opengl 1.3 rendering? I have some video cards with only partial 2.0 support, and it renders as very messed up. Some maps even crash out to console.
-
Is there any way to force opengl 1.3 mode? As I have cards that have opengl 2.0, but only partial support. This causes really weird rendering to happen, as well as in gzdoom with gles enabled.
-
Is there ever a need to use software mode with modern machines? I just tried dotw on an older pentium 4 laptop and it actually handled map 1 and 4 amazingly well in software mode, but opengl was a slideshow. Igpu with opengl 1.5.
-
Does this/prboom+/prboom require anything like sse2? Are prboom maps generally very simple compared to gzdoom? I mean I ran ancient aliens map 15 on a pentium 2 laptop and got around 25 fps at max resolution. For gzdoom I would have needed a pentium 4 to achieve this.

Ar Luminae: a vibrant UDMF behemoth - big update, most likely the Final version!
invictius replied to Aurelius's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Would this work properly on latest lzdoom? I'm assuming not, if it needs gz 4.5. Also wondering if it takes advantage of opengl 3.3 - because I'm having issues with it but gles works fine on this system. -
I've been unable to replicate it, in fact I've been unable to get your port running on 7 again. I'm probably not going to touch that machine again for a long time, but when I do, I'll look into it again.

I saw Danielle Bergolis' nails and was like "Damn, she could be as bad as an imp up close". People with longer nails, do you press with the tips of the fingers to avoid nail contact?
-
"I_signalhandler: exiting on signal: signal 11" Also happening on windows 7 where the latest prboom+ works fine. Not trying to load any pwads.
-
Mouse3. Mousewheel is a bit cumbersome to fire a "weapon", but I can hardly complain when you've added so much for me. I can live with it being a keyboard key.
-
I'm just having issues binding mdk to a mouse button. Works fine for a keyboard key. I've tried clearing the original bind in the options menu as well as the console. That unbinds it but the rebind to mdk is what's not working.
-
I have an account but for my name, I just mashed keyboard keys - so when I report issues, people probably think I'm a troll or something lol
-
Wow, so simple and I've been avoiding doing this on github for so long. Thanks.
-
Maybe a bit naive of me, but how do I go about compiling your development builds? I don't expect you to repeat something that's already online of course, would just like to be pointed in the right direction.
-
A command similar to zdooms' mdk would also be welcome.
-
Yeah, I was under the impression that 7 needed double the ram, but have learned since this install that vista was just bloated.
-
No error, comes up in task manager but the actual window never appears.
-
Any idea why the latest prboom plus would open fine on vista but not your prboomx? I installed the binary dependencies, not sure if the others in this case would be needed. I guess it's no big deal, I'm just trying boom maps on ridiculously outdated hardware.

Recently bought a s478 motherboard that just happened to support pcie x16. Unfortunately you can only use 2.0 cards. Dropped the slowest cpu in for it that I had, celeron 1.7 williamette. Prboom+ does 100+fps on entryway (640x480 opengl) and 8fps on dotw map 1 (with nvidia 7200gs). So now I want to test it on pentium 3's, 2's etc. But I don't know what the requirements are. Sdl needs xp, so there's that. But what opengl version? I heard 1.4 from somewhere, same as zandronum? I want to put this on a p3-700 and see what the results are. Why, you ask? Well, people drive the length of Russia on the trans-sib "highway" which is a dirt track, just for the fun of it. People do all kinds of sado-masochistic things when it would have been easier to just sit home and drink beer.

I've said this on github and I'll say it here - it's about time there was a prboom fork that has a resurrect command!
-
I'm guessing you developed the mac version using big sur? As it's saying big sur is required to run it. I don't think that many mac users are going to be running big sur.

Prboom+ system requirements? (Dicking around on old pc)
invictius replied to invictius's topic in Source Ports
If I really want horrible performance I can just slap a 7200gs in there, right? It's rated even slower that a gt 210. Before I found out about the 2.0 card limit I intended to put a 1050 in there to see how an extreme bottleneck behaves. Ah yes, what I meant to say was later than xp. From what I've read, vista straight up requires wddm drivers and direct x 9, which is why a radeon 9600 will work but not a 9200. In all my googling I've not found any results for custom drivers for a geforce 4 or radeon 9200 (Or older) that say they will work on vista. Nor have I seen any reports that you can just use xp drivers (And yes the card will of course display without drivers, but you won't be getting accelerated opengl) -
All six zip files?

Prboom+ system requirements? (Dicking around on old pc)
invictius replied to invictius's topic in Source Ports
I'm having two problems. You can't run prboom+ on xp (see error message) and you can't go higher than xp to solve the prerequisites issue if you want to run opengl under 2.0, because there's no such thing as an opengl 1.5/1.x card that will run on xp and above. Only laptop igpu's. This is what I get when I try to run prboom+, if I find the dll it wants it just complains about another one. I wish there were a way to find out all prereq's a program needs. -
That would be good, thanks. Also, do you know how to find all prerequisites for a program? Trying to run prboom+ on xp. It's meant to work on 95. But I keep getting this, and if I download the dll I just get another missing dll notice, it's never-ending.
