  1. and i often find myself wishing i could build doom maps for a living rather than go through 5 years of building "parametric screen walls" and finding proportions in everything around me.

    *sigh*

surely i am not the only one?

Awesome, that sounds like fun. Hopefully you'll get some good hands on time soon, and not spend too long reading dry theory.

      Leaning tower of Tango!

Very cool Tango! I had similar plans to possibly study Architecture, mostly because I thought I might be able to liken it to making Doom maps :P. But the more I looked into it, the less appealing it was. I much prefer the non-realism and abstractness that you can get away with in a game, heh.

So now I'm just taking a dumb graphics/IT degree. Oh well!

Good luck to you all the same! I'm curious to hear how it works out for you. I may actually decided to try and get into architecture later on...so uh, let me know how it goes for you :D

You'll be in school for 5 years? Gawdamn, I know some drafts people that just picked up a book, sent in their portfolio, showed they knew the shit and got a job.

ay. didn't know it was so easy to do that :p i just came out of high school, though, so i still have a fair ways to go any way you look at it.

the more i get into it the more i realize how much it *isn't* like making doom maps. which is to be expected, since this is real life. architecture is pretty damn cool nonetheless, and i've told myself i've wanted to do this for the past however many years, so here i am.
