The 2nd annual Doomworld Halloween Thread

Going to an 18th birthday party on the 31st - the invite requests that I "wear something spooky". :P
  3. Here's my Facebook "fan" page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/James-Paddock-Music/146509134549 Also, I just finished another midi. Again, not for anything in particular*, but I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Spectral Cybernetics Spectral.mp3 (<- new link) Might possibly require some extension, but until then, enjoy! I think you'll find it's heavily Mark Klem-influenced. :P (*Sorry! I'll get to work on your requests soon! D:) EDIT 14:20 GMT: Re-uploaded. Whoops.
  4. Er, is it too late to sign up for testing? :?
  5. MP3 version of "Nobody told me about Plutonia": Nobody.mp3
  6. I posted these on my Facebook page a while ago. :) SpeedyShare links: Watching You.mp3 Torque.mp3 Aha! So that's what that song is! :P (I heard it in SMDM and Community Chest 3 but couldn't identify it.) I can say that I didn't really have anything in mind when I wrote Torque, except perhaps Hellcore 2.0 MAP04's track. Still, I can see why you'd draw a comparison of it to Replica. :P
  7. Well, my website is unbelievably slow (at least at the moment) but those links work fine for me. o.o
  8. Three new (MP3) songs on my MySpace page.Nobody Told Me (About Plutonia) Watching You TorqueI believe the first has been requested a few times. :P Go check 'em out! http://www.myspace.com/jimmy91st
  9. That is indeed an awesome texture. Here's a zip containing 24 variants for great justice. http://jimmy.phenomer.net/textures/immortalcoverdoors.zip (A's are Heretic palette, B's are Doom palette, and C's are full color.) Doom Marine, maybe you could find a use for these in DVII-2? :P

Windows 7 $30 for students in US

Favoriting this. :P Gonna check it out in more depth at a later date, once I get a bit more clarification with my school about its email address, domain join, etc. EDIT: Bah. :(
  11. I'll get to work on the midis as soon as possible. :)
  12. Thanks you guys :) Super Jamie: I write my MIDIs in plain ol' Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth (so that's how I listen to them mostly), but I've downloaded a few great soundfonts (among them AirFont, SGM and FluidR) along with the one I got with MIDIConvertor Studio called Chorium - which allows me to listen to them in whatever soundfonts I have available, on the fly. Those four are the complete soundfont packs I've managed to locate that are available for free download. ArmouredBlood: I'll check out your project, and yes, it's absolutely fine if you want to use any other of my midis for it. :P Also, "Watching You" is to be used for The Empty Museum, so it's going under "Unreleased Projects". Sorry to those of you guys who thought about using it.
  13. New song: Torque. Not for anything in particular, though it may end up in PL2 v1.1. EDIT: Whoops, forgot to mention. "Baron's Province" was reuploaded recently because I spotted all too late that part of the song was actually out of key. :/ "Watching You" was also reuploaded today for the same reason, though it wasn't as much of a problem as it was with "Baron's Province". I also just went ahead and reuploaded Torque. There's an extra slap bass in there now. :)
  14. Watching You is now available. At 5:36 it's the longest midi I've ever written (Sanctified doesn't count because the original, non-extended version was merely 2:22). I had PL2 MAP29 in mind when I made the first part of this song (in fact I began composing it just before PL2's completion date), and have recently made it much longer. I've been thinking maybe Zap would like to use it for TEM? :? I'm very pleased with it so any and all feedback on it will be much appreciated. :) (Pwease...? :3) In a Blaze of Glory is another new title midi, composed specifically for BlazingPhoenix (hence the name). I suspect he may not want it to be used elsewhere, though, so it's under the "Unreleased Projects" section of the first post.

    Whispers of Satan RELEASED!

I've played all the way through maps 1-30, along with Xaser's Psychic mod loaded. Absolute blast. :D Props to you, Paul and Kristian! I'll admit that the symmetry of some of the maps did bug me at times, but it's a minor gripe. Good luck to whatever you want to do now, Paul. ;)
  16. MAP07's music was quite okay. I think the saw solo could've done with being a bit more melodic but it was otherwise a good bit of music. Reminds me vaguely of One Must Fall 2097's menu music. :P

    Void Wad floorplate room

I take it you mean the red and grey room in which there's a trippy 5x5 square, and the player must highlight its tiles in a specific pattern to proceed. There's an obvious clue. Look on the floor just in front of the door to the room itself.
  18. It's happened three times in the last two days now, and it (mysteriously) seems to occur randomly while loading up any page or thread on DW.The tab in which I have Doomworld just stays loading, and then everything else in my IE7 window absolutely ceases to function - the other tabs, the minimize/exit buttons, everything. Any programs I try to run (like ZDoom, mIRC or even Task Manager) won't load. The icon menu in my taskbar becomes totally unresponsive (though everything on the left - including the start menu - still works). Any popup context menus like those you get when you right click a bar in the taskbar stay up, sometimes until I reboot. It stays frozen for about 5-10 minutes and then everything I've tried to do while it was frozen happens at once.I really don't know what the problem could be here. Any light that could be shed on this would be appreciated.
  19. Line_SetTextureOffset is a relatively recent addition to ZDoom. Make sure your ACC is up-to-date. Get the absolute latest version here. http://svn.drdteam.org/ACC/

    Doomworld freezes my computer

This problem is persisting, although now it's not always happening when browsing Doomworld. It can apparently happen with any application or at any given time, though I've yet been unable to root out the cause. :| During this "freeze", the program that first experienced it (or perhaps started it) becomes totally unresponsive, and any other programs or dialog boxes just don't appear for about 5 minutes. For instance, iTunes won't load up when I click the shortcut on my desktop/quick launch bar, and Open/Save dialogs in SLumpEd (and NotePad and, well... pretty much anything else) don't pop up. :( For the most part I can pretty much use my other open applications perfectly during this, providing I don't attempt to call up any dialog boxes. If I do try to, they also become unresponsive, until I wait long enough for my computer to become "unstuck", after which the tabs of the programs that suffered the freeze flash orange. Has absolutely anyone experienced anything like this? As you may guess it is completely infuriating, as my computer is essentially crippled during this temporary state. Help is any form is majorly appreciated.

Plutonia 2 - How good do you think it is?

I really don't understand how that song managed to become probably the most popular track of Plutonia 2 - I rushed it horribly. xP

    Greenwar 2: RELEASED!

Hmm, I think I might detail something. Need to get my mapping muscles flexing again, after Skulltag speedmapping helped me a bunch. ;) (I'll decide when will be an ideal time to pick my map and then post here again.) How exactly does the map naming convention work?

How long have you been coming to DoomWorld?

I joined the Doom community in 2006. Seems like I missed out on a lot. :/

    Doom Advent Calendar 2009

Torn, I'll be resending my map some time soon. For some reason the teleporter in the outside lava pit is impassible, don't know if you noticed. =S
