Cruise ship from Herian2 maps 25 and 26 now is #1 for me. It is huge, gorgeous, proportional, detailed and actually playable on decks and inside.

Alien Vendetta's intermission screen: Dem lensflare
Hitherto replied to Redneckerz's topic in WAD Discussion
jdoom merely is subset of Doomsday engine which also includes jHeretic and jHexen. I'm 100% sure what these lensflares on lightsources are it's default feature and about 90% what all this picture is pure jDoom without any retouching. You can download latest Doomsday and try that map by yourself. -

These are indeed jdoom features. Others probably too. -
First attempt demos [never played the map before]

No, you distort my words. I feel cheating then authenticity of recorded stream of controls manipulated in any way. -
First attempt demos [never played the map before]
Hitherto replied to ArmouredBlood's topic in Other Demos & Discussion
Five years ago m30 of TNTR completely pissed me off, after just 1/2 hour and lots of deaths I quited in anger and frustration (was not able to pass even first area with those stinking turrets!). And after watching maxdemo concluded for myself what nobody can finish this shit in FDA mode. :) Pause tics not recorded then menu key ('Esc') is pressed. For prboom-derivative ports (not sure about choco ones) it should be safe although in old vanilla exes it can lead to desynchs. For existing demos you can use LMPC tool (within Dosbox on modern OS) for removing this tic away from lmp file. But personally I feel what both methods are like TAS-cheating for FDA demos. IMO just not a problem manually speed up playback in case of long recorded pause. -

^ What is the difference between max and speed here? Getting all secrets? Excuse my ignorance, but this map never was my favorite.

The Ultimate Need More Detail demos [-complevel 3]
Hitherto posted a topic in Speed Demo Submissions
DSDA page aka the ultimate nmd // nmdu The Ultimate Need More Detail demos thread. Direct link for max-demopaŃk by scepticist (see post below): http://e1m2.net/hth/nmdulmps.zip (I changed original filenames, following to patterns 'NeDm-xxx' for singles and 'xxxxNMDe' for movies) ------------------------------------ I had some fun tonight beating e2m3 for first attempt on uv-fast: http://e1m2.net/hth/1stdemos/n2d3fhth.zip This map and e1m3, e1m5, e1m6 are my favorites at this moment. -
Speedrunners and just lovers of demo watching welcome. Doing this poll as recently I had much trouble via (1) method with Crispy and Woof demos with absent/incompatible demo footer (2) can have a hard time with different iwad Seems (3) is only automated method now for those, and speaking in general (2) (3) drag-n-dropping is damn slow thing compared with (1), because you need to unpack files first. PS If you for some reason want to autoplay some old vanilla demos from compet-n days and beyond in dsda-doom, then lmpwatch.zip content is still your friend.

It is intended by design. Under earth should be dark, scary and puzzly) You can use your pistol as flashlight.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I'm having a hard time playing the classic "DOOM" bi-logy.
Hitherto replied to Ooyayoolyah's topic in Doom General
Or you just become save-scumming addict and quickly lose interest to entire game after "beating" couple of okuplok-like maps with zillion saves and possibly cheats. On _really_ difficult stuff better have ascending approach - conquer and learn map with skill 2, have a fun with finding of it's secrets btw, then rise the difficulty. No real skill can be gained without lots of time spend. -
[Poll] How you prefer to watch demos?
Hitherto replied to Hitherto's topic in Other Demos & Discussion
May be DOOMWADDIR / DOOMWADPATH system variables can help: https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/121953-dsda-launcher-v12-dsda-doom-for-macos/?tab=comments#comment-2477804 -
Petition to all developers of demo compatible ports about .lmp footer
Hitherto posted a topic in Source Ports
Please make addition of footer lump (strictly in prboom+ format) to .lmp file while recording mandatory and default option. Without it, considering modern chaos in naming conventions among speedrunners, automated watching even iwad demos becomes impossible and manual -playdemo'ing is too much pain considering amount of demos producing nowadays. Thanks for your attention. -

Hitherto replied to Hitherto's topic in Source Ports
Probably @Never_Again taught author of launcher and it uses direct reading of footer cmdline section now. Anyway it is useless for me - I have 32 bit system and I simply dislike any type of launchers. For sure @dsda-devcan "repair" autoplay feature in similar way. But honestly I don't think what that prb+ footer format is hard to implement as cross-port standart. At least because current DSDA have absolute majority of demos produced with it. -

Hitherto replied to Hitherto's topic in Source Ports
Are you sure? I hardly believe what that launcher can do something what port (dsda 0.25.6) himself can't. Probably it is just launcher "memory" or your dsda-doom still have some patterns in .cfg (another old prb+ feature for automated playback via strict .lmp naming convention). Try to rename your test pwad demo to something generic and launch it as "dsda-doom.exe generic.lmp" -

Hitherto replied to Hitherto's topic in Source Ports
Excuse me, but I see quite difference in format: Woof 10.5.1 -iwad "doom2.wad" -file "cchest2.wad" PWAD L 2 PrBoom-Plus 2.5.1.4 -iwad "doom2.wad" -file "cchest2.wad" VERSION PORTNAME% & CMDLINE PWAD I 2 dsda-doom 0.24.1 -iwad "doom2.wad" -file "cchest2.wad" VERSION PORTNAME" & CMDLINE Take note: prb+ recognize footer produced by much newer dsda, so <portname> string definitely isn't hardcoded by content and length. -

Hitherto replied to Hitherto's topic in Source Ports
Exactly, using prboom 2.5.1.4. And yes, these two engines are brings majority of trouble now. Though Woof produced demos have some sort of such footer but it is incompatible with prboom/dsda-doom. -
Yep, from m3 I get the point about DARKGATE: it is just not optimized at all for pistol start. No way to go -fast IL on maps 3-5 (considering how cramped these levels are) and no way to finish m6-8 IL on any difficulty due complete lack of weapons, except some far placed berserks (which again can't save IL play because of lack of space).

Client side rules and restrictions?
Hitherto replied to reaction's topic in Other Demos & Discussion
No, it is just my opinion about crosshairs. Are you think old compet-n players really marked their monitors then played on lv30? Though it makes sense (really worth it) on d2all max runs. -
Client side rules and restrictions?
Hitherto replied to reaction's topic in Other Demos & Discussion
Please read https://dsdarchive.com/intro (advanced features section) Don't mess these together, first is TAS feature not allowed in fair run, second is OK and commonly used nowadays, although should be mented in txt. IMO crosshair usage should be too at least described in txt. Though it is useless in general gameplay (considering vanilla weapon sprites), it can bring huge advantage on IoS hole sniping maps. PS IIRC mouselook not allowed too, although it wasn't mentioned.
