So this is one of the things that I've been working on in lieu of my Doom levels. Quite pleased with these.

65 on Netflix. It was a good sci-fi story that was tense at times. I really enjoyed it.

In Defense of Downtown's Giant Arrow: An Analysis of Open vs Linear Map Design
joepallai replied to Arsinikk's topic in Doom General
In a time before the ubiquitous in-game goal marker, the arrow was a simple but effective tool. I've used health potions in the shape of an arrow to hint at useful secrets in one of my newer maps. -

Started reading "Last Call" by Tim Powers and am not disappointed. The man knows how to tell a story. -
Never finished Quake (hated the sound in that game and the 3d models) but enjoyed Q2 and Q3 thoroughly.

I used WadAuthor from the 3d Alchemy book.

Diopatra Outpost21 Hellrun2 CastEvil Those are some of my favorites that I return to constantly for the combination of atmosphere, combat and nostalgia in good, old-fashioned vanilla Doom.

Going to read something from the Appendix N list, just debating should it be Jack Vance or Ashton Clark Smith. -
Played Ziggurat for the first time in years (lots of interesting ideas but terrible gameplay). Then was playing ABIGJOB but kept getting interrupted, Finally started playing Altitude but need to start over (music is distracting and I'm just not up to speed--really liking what I've seen in this one so far).

Do you obsessively playtest your own maps?
joepallai replied to Lucius Wooding's topic in Doom General
yes. It's one of the reasons I don't make many maps; I spend way too much time testing to the point I hate my maps. -
Was playing Bruised again.

Hell's Angels was a good read (most of his stuff is) Still chipping away at the Illusive Shift, I would say it's a good follow-up to Playing at the World but not as important. Mostly I've been reading Games Workshop's "Book of ..." series for Necromunda
