MAP17 has a wrong combination of keys?

You found skull keys in E2M9 I might add. They were all consistently skulls but it was still on the deimos base. Or was it? The map was really small and it was just a cave.

Have you ever turned back on Doom E2M1 start?

I never gave any thought to the doom starts, but the Heretic starts are the ones that got me curious enough to question their logic. In E1M2 You start in the middle of the tower. How did he get in there without disurbing any of the monsters outside first? Why didn't he start somewhere outside the tower? It's as if he was teleported inside the tower from somewhere. And E1M1 is the docks. I think it's well implied that you came to the city of the damned via boat, but you start FACING the docks from inside, rather than on the docks. And there's no boat to be found out there. The barred gate in the water could've worked as an implied exit to the ocean, but later in the map you're able to visit the area behind the bars and the stream doesn't lead to any large ocean body at all. It's contained within the docks. How did he get there?

    Earthbound!

You're playing it for the first time, but you know all those details? Some of which are very spoilerific plot points (one of which is endgame)? People who haven't been fully exposed to it have this idea that Earthbound is just randomly silly and fun, but it manages to do this while doing a good job of staying epic and serious, and even very dark. Some parts are scary. And I don't mean Doom 3 jump out and surprise you kind of scary. I mean being trapped in a dark room full of whispers and your own family wants to hurt you scary. Play EB0 and Mother 3 next. They will rock your world!

    Marathon, Hexen

I'm sick of people calling Marathon "The Mac's Doom" and Hexen "Medieval Doom". They're good enough (even better than doom, in fact) to be considered their own standalone games and not knockoffs of Doom. Now go to Xibalba, you UAC hell-obsessed shotgun zombies D=

The sound doesn't work when I start this. Why?

    Marathon, Hexen

You can just not read the text and spam the spacebar you know =p But I admit, when I tried playing it as a little kid I couldn't get into it too far because it was hard and confusing. My cousin and I liked imitating the aliens' grunts though. It wasn't until about 10 years later when the source port came out that I truly began to appreciate it. That's when I was mature enough to understand the college-level reading and be thrilled by the active story involved. edit: Hey I'm no longer warming up! (as if anybody gives a flying carp) edit2: I also really appreciate Bunjie's bizzarre, lovecraftian creatures much more than doom's cybernetic demons. It's like they concentrated as much as possible to come up with the weirdest, most imaginative looking aliens you've ever seen. Like those big white 'hulks' with the wierd looking faces and those floating walruses in pathways into darkness. Of course back in the day ID made some way cooler aliens in commander keen, until Carmack went on a rampage and ruined the whole team.

probably Chris-chan singing anything that used to sound good before he wrecked it.

    Marathon, Hexen

I think you're right here. I guess a more accurate term would be "Dungeons and Dragons Doom", but I never heard anybody say that.

Just like DOOM64, right? =P But then Doom64 TC: Absolution was way better, so...
  12. He made me his bitch with KEEN1.
  13. This reminds me of the time I had to make a how-to video for a class and I ended up videotaping myself using deepsea. It was terrible.

    [RELEASE]The Cenote

What's a Kenny? Is this a pop culture/inside joke involving testes? If so I know feel ashamed of what I created. I'm gonna try to make this an IWAD if it's not too much of a headache.

    DeePsea 12.15 and R3Dedit 1.6.37

I used to be a Deepsea addict, then I downloaded DB2 and my brain was completely blown. How does this guy expect to be able to compete by CHARGING MONEY for an INFERIOR PRODUCT?! Well, I haven't bought it so I can't judge, but seeing the comments here, I'm getting a strong vibe it doesn't even come close to DB2's awesomeness.

    Serpent: Resurrection released

A new epic Hexen mod? This is awesome news! *is incredibly tired of waiting for edge of chaos and thinks it will probably be a disappointment compared to this anyway.*
  18. I wish the guy in doom 3 looked like this.

    Best Musics of Doom WADs

Awesome idea. These moozaks need to be documented, cuz it's not like the average joe can dig through the mountain of WADs out there blindly to extract all the best tunes (well, they CAN, I just mean its tedious). Are you gonna keep updating this?

Have you seen the Doom movie?

I knew it would suck going in, and it indeed sucked. But I just had to watch it out of fanboyism.
  22. Just finished putting together a little deathmatch pack I've been working on for months. By "finished" I mean an alpha working at minimal standards, of course. Get it here Screenshots This is a sort of spinoff of Breadmonster Invasion. It includes 3 maps, a bunch of items and a couple of new weapons, and 12 player classes (though it's really more like 6 since it's split between male and female, though there are subtle non-cosmetic differences). Each of them has their own set of abilities that I really encourage you to explore. *hint: The Ancient Cuneiform item is the fletchette of this game. If you have any way to play it with other people and test it out, that's awesome. If not, you can add bots with the addbot command, just make sure you're in deathmatch mode first. But the bots are stupid and they don't know how to use the inventory system, so they won't be too formidabble if you know what you're doing. The first map is just one tight room, with no weapons or items whatsoever, so it's just a crampt brawl-space. But there's a particular aspect to this map I think is quite charming (check the jukebox!) ;) The second map is medium sized, very dark and labyrinthian. The third is a wide open outside area. Let me stress that I consider this an ALPHA, so there's incompleteness abounds. For one, most player sprites are unfinished, and they're missing all but front frames because finishing all 8 angles is going to take forever. I'm planning to give the classes more unique attacks and abilities, as well as more universal items weapons that can be used by all. And I want to make more maps, obviously. Did I mention you can carry only one (non-magical/fisticuffs) weapon at a time, dropping whatever you were previously carrying on the ground in front of you? I think it's a pretty cool touch of realism ;) edit: Oh yeah, this seems almost needless to say, but this is a Doom2 mod, so you'll need to put a doom2 wad in the folder to run it.
  23. Downloaded. I'll give it a try in a few days. I haven't played a Hexen wad in so many years even though I consider it to be close to my favorite game ever.
  24. You can download it from here: http://www.zero1productions.com/billy/Wiscasset/index.html The site is uploading as I'm posting this so it might not work right away. I also made a forum here: bananasauros.yuku.com Most importantly I started writing a strategy guide! Only map 01 walkthrough exists now, but I will write more in time. Walkthrough I had originally intended to release this on March 20 (the spring equinox), but school has turned up the heat and now pokemon is a big distraction, so realistically I'm not gonna be working on it any more than I did for a while so I might as well release it now. And even as it is, it's still pretty decent. The thing I really wanted to do was get rid of the whole intro text thing and instead add in an opening level that gives you some exposition, but time and laziness just doesn't permit so it remains as it is, throwing you into the main action from the start. Changes from the beta are pretty underwhelming if you've already played this before, so I don't suggest playing it a second time to see the few changes (unless you really really want to!) Changes from beta include: - The fist weapon now functions correctly - The puzzle in the big room with the obelisks on map one has been toned down quite a bit as first-time players have frequently complained to have trouble with it. - Added a hamster revolver weapon. - The main character's names have been retconned to Sine and Square. This is inspired by the pattern on their schentis =) - Title image on the main GUI has been removed... don't ask me why, I just didn't like it. - Spelling and grammar, yadayadayada. I didn't bother going through a run of the whole episode this time and assumed it would work, so if you ever get blocked by a game-stopping bug please tell me, but I'm pretty sure everything should work all right. Here are some screenshots: Enjoy!
  25. For Hexen, Waldo's The Wizard's Vaults and Caldera. They were the most memorable wads in my opinion.
