Holy shit I just realized this. Damn this makes me feel OLD :( I can't even imagine what the original site members must feel like now :/
How long have you been on Doomworld?

12 years. I remember when this place had a reputation for tearing up shitty mappers, due to the D:RE incident. Remember that? Yeah, now you do!
I have a warped sense of seniority though, someone can post they've been here 5 years and I still don't see them as a veteran.
i think this can be summed up in an equation:
let vet be a bool to determine whether they are a veteran.
VPoints = vet points. greater than 100 points, 5 years, and member status equals veteran. any of those conditions not being met means no veteran status. 250 points means veteran no matter what.
VPoints = years on dw * 10 + posts in hundreds rounded down * 1.5 (cap 4 pt/yr) + notable wads * 15 (leaders)or *5 for mappers w cacoward winner being *25 instead (*7.5 for mappers).
I believe being on here alone doesn't make one well known - i have been on DW for over 12 years and I'm probably not as well known as many people who have been on for maybe only 3.
So, just being on the boards for five years may give one a sense of what a typical posts, but some people may get the hang of it after a year. you could register, make a few posts, and come back 5 years later. would i consider them a mapper? no.
one who makes decent posts interacts more with the community, and as such i don't consider one a member until a minimum of 250 points, maybe even 500.
Finally, the big bonus: mapping and modding. DW is known for this, and as such people gain respect quickly with good wads and/or other projects. I also notice when reading threads people tend to interact with one another the most when mapping. And so I give huge bonuses here.
