You don't see the number 4 nor 13 on japanese clocks because of triskaidekaphobia and tetraphobia.
The number 4 has a meaning to that of death, in particular China, Japan and South Korea, where it sounds similar or identical to death.
Basicly any number that's 4 or has a 4 in it, is associated to death and unluckyness.esselfortium said:
It's silly and arbitrary, but you can find those sorts of superstitions all over the place. There are buildings in the US that don't have a 13th floor, just a 12th and a 14th.
Alitalia planes have no 13th or 17th row.
