  1. I've got mild deuteranopia. (Red-green colorblindness) Not much if anything, really. Maybe the tans in techbases and the browner shades in city maps get repetitive at times. Fwiw, I'm definitely of the opinion that the community's attempts at new aesthetics have far eclipsed that which id originally produced.

    Piracy poll trifecta complete.

The more I read discussions about piracy, the more it seems to me like a moot point. The modern age of technology has made piracy an inevitability. There's details to be read into, but the reality is, if you can't make the connection that you should ultimately buy the vast majority of what you pirate (with exception depending on the circumstance) then you should probably rethink things. That said, there are terrible ideologues at both sides of the issue that refuse to read into any nuance or uncertainty, so if you feel hesitant to make a judgement, then I don't blame you.

    Piracy poll trifecta complete.

wow it sure would be nice if piracy stopped existing wouldn't it
  5. i, too, enjoy the positive effects of anti-piracy concepts as applied to the beloved mediums of head injury, traffic controlling, and uh grocery store related crimes

    H.R. Giger is dead

Well, this sucks. :( If only we could place his brain in a grotesque half-flesh half-machine body...
  9. Yeah, this. I dunno why you guys are jumping to discredit it. It's an "experiment", but it clearly wasn't made with the intention to establish anything empirical. Some guy did some drugs and said "How do I feel like drawing myself today?". I'll take it with a grain of salt and suppose he did his job. Edit: The more I look at it and look back to your responses, the less confidence I have in it lol. Backpedaling time! I do maintain that there's at least a little bit of truth to it and that its a neat art project either way, but I really have no idea how much of it is real. Some responses here seem to affirm it, though. Also this video the guy made is disturbing and funny at the same time, so that's kinda cool.

    Your favorite console based FPS?

I'm a huge Goldeneye and Perfect Dark fan. There are intricacies in those games' gameplay that I doubt will ever again be replicated (Goldeneye: Source is a good game, but its definitely not Goldeneye). TimeSplitters really interests me, but unfortunately, I doubt I'll ever get the opportunity to really get into it unless there's an HD release with online multiplayer. That's the only way I'll be able to get a big ol' multiplayer session going. :( Also, the Halo series. Pls, don't shoot me. ... with that said, all of the above games really deserve PC re-releases/reverse-engineered ports with proper online play and modding support. Even the Halo series. Halo 1's port was good for its time, but by today's standards, its netcode is awful and that actually affects the gameplay majorly. Also its modding system is much more finicky than it should be. Halo 2's is nigh-universally considered awful, so... there's that, too.

Justin “Jew Wario” Carmical Dead at 42

If there's anything to be gathered from some of the responses in this thread, it's that the concept of mental illness is hard to grasp. Just because someone isn't seeing pink elephants doesn't mean that their perception isn't completely skewed.

Justin “Jew Wario” Carmical Dead at 42

On an absolute level good and bad don't really exist, because mental illness (mild or severe) is responsible for behavior that is considered bad or evil... and mental illness isn't incited by the individual, it's incited by genetics and environment. This said, I do think its safe to say that there is a "functional" bad/evil and that it crucially differs from brokenness: Basically, anybody with antisocial personality disorder or narcissistic personality disorder that wrongs others is functionally bad or evil. Anybody else who wrongs others is broken and here's why. If you convince someone with NPD or ASPD that they've wronged you, they simply won't care; they don't possess a normal sense of empathy or any at all and as such, this information is trivial. If you convince anyone else that they've wronged you, they'll feel remorse. They may or may not tell you that they feel remorse, but they do and that's because they have wronged you and they know it. As you can probably tell, this is a simplification, but I think I've expressed my point well enough.

    Mental Illness

Allow me to clarify: Sure, whenever you're confronted with one of the worlds many ills its perfectly normal to react with whatever multitude of negative emotions. The idea I'm just trying to get across is that its very important to establish a sense of inner peace and happiness, so that you can defend yourself from it. The reality is that you're just a single human being and that you have one life to live. You can't fix all of the world's problems, but you can certainly feel shit about them. Accept your relative powerlessness, do what you actually can, and make sure life is actually enjoyable for you.

    Mental Illness

While this is basically a pretty normal outlook for people in general, I'd like to add the following: You really shouldn't feel like shit very often. I mean its pretty obvious that people are going to feel shit sometimes because that's life, but if you feel like shit enough to the point that you can back up and say "This sucks" then you should never give up on pursuing better.

    Mental Illness

Primarily Obsessional OCD is the only thing I've been outright diagnosed with, but its pretty apparent that I struggle with anxiety and depression as well. That depression/anxiety was as bad as to lead to suicidal ideation at one point, too. Gladly, however, I can say that not only am I long free of suicidal ideation, but also that I'm unburdened and happy at least half of the time these days. :)

An Idgames Troll Walks Into A Bar...

Fun little map. This part was a bit 'wat' though. At this point I actually had the plasma gun, though, so I just kind of had to focus fire a single revenant, hope a projectile didn't fry me, hop down, and rinse/repeat. I was using ZDoom + Mouselook and at at least one point I impulsively looked up and cheated a lil' bit. :3

    doom = human body allegory

So um. The wad seems to consist of more abridged Doom text, some additional ZDoom weirdness (including several difficulties and a "SkittlesPlayer" class), that same exact Ms Paint crucifixion sprite (over and over again), a cat for the HUD, a new fist sprite-set, a purty sky, some abstract "spiritual" graphics, a looping bee sound clip, and a thunderstorm soundclip. Oh, also, this. Edit: There's also plenty of blank sound clips... there might be more content, but I don't feel like going through everything lol.
  19. Think I noticed some bugs: It appears that AlexMax's map (the Skrillex one) has an inconsistent name between the transition screen and the automap. Also, I can't load up map 24 at all in Zandronum. I get an error that says 0xBEEFCAFE or something lol. This was in single player if that makes any difference.

  21. ... Oh, dear. I didn't think this was going to boil down to a subjective vs. objective argument. I don't want to derail this thread too much more, but I'll just offer this: I believe that for the most part, music is subjective. I do however, believe there's a line (sometimes it may be a bit abstract) that separates things such as the works of Bach and crunkcore oufit BrokenCYDE. If you're using those as synonyms, you might want to do some research. To be honest, I didn't know at the time of typing. I have upon reading it again, though. Sorry about that... It is worth mentioning though, that the context of the post made it a bit confusing. The fact that you were bringing up those bands as possible "worst bands ever" to someone else with potentially very different tastes was sort of confusing to me. It just made more sense to me that you were trying to achieve some sort of objective common ground.
  22. Ugh. Sorry to randomly butt in, but can we cut it with the "I don't like X band/genre so they're objectively among the worst bands/genres in existence" shtick? Actual screamo/emocore (and I'm not talking about generic metalcore or deathcore shit that scenekids like to label "screamo") like Saetia, Hot Cross, Envy, etc. is all objectively respectable music not deserving of the bad press it gets. If you don't like the vocal style, that's fine. Just don't pretend its some awful corruption of music because you don't like the vocals. As for TMV... well I'd imagine I'm not the only person here who enjoys TMV and might get a little irked when reading your post that seems to assume the consensus on TMV is unanimous. :/ As for NIN: Trent has put out some great material via that project. 'Nuff said. It depends on what you mean by "not liking a band." You seem to have a vendetta, yet apparently you don't even mind the band so much itself, just the resulting musical movement it might have had a hand in contributing to. That's just silly. If you want to hate on nu-metal/groove metal just do it. There's been plenty of legitimate artists in the past who have inadvertently contributed to shittier musical movements, yet they're still plenty respected. Feel free to continually write from the perspective that NIN is some terrible, irredeemable band, but from every music buff who isn't in your own words, an "opinionated metal asshole," you'll probably find a variety of disapproving responses.

    Are you buying MW3?

Eh, its just a rehash, so I don't feel compelled to buy it or anyth--*looks at friend list*... looks like I'm buying it after all. :/

    Thrash Metal

This list should be of interest: http://i.imgur.com/PQIGh.jpg The main reason why a Black Flag album is on here despite being hardcore is because of it supposedly being pretty influential.

    LSD really IS fucked up.

People interested in playing LSD will probably find this article to be a good read: http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/lsd/lsd.htm Details the game and also gives you a bit of background on the development process. This quip is pretty neat:
