How long will Dooms popularity last?

When people run out of ideas for Doom levels, they'll make new gametypes out of Doom. I mean more than before. Doom Doom Revolution? Shoot the enemies that are invading your base in time to the music. EDIT: I'd love to see Left 4 Doom.
  2. (did a search beforehand, just got one post in passing from six years ago; also best-guessing where this would fit...If it fits better elsewhere, feel free to move it!) Okay, so I was watching this video of a remix to the intro of a game called I.M. Meen. It's a edutainment game, yeah. Anyways, the intro and all cinematics in the game are done by the same guys who did the animation for those Zelda games (it's much better here that in those games, however). Intrigued by the game somewhat, I decided to take a looksee at what the game looked like in actual gameplay, and to my surprise I noticed it looked rather familiar... Seriously, just look at the gameplay for a few minutes and you'll see the animated face that looks around, punching (like Doom punching, mind you) and even the freaking Automap! This is either Doom or Wolf3D under a new game, just like Chex Quest series and the Heretic/Hexen series! Judging by the looks of the map itself, I'd take a good guess and say the engine is specifically Wolfenstein 3D, due to the ceilings and walls being of the same height and perfectly square. However, unlike Wolf3D (to my knowledge of it), you can hold items (ala Heretic) and even have a compass, which could actually be worth something (I'm still contemplating it's usefulness). My question is, if the game does indeed run on WADs or whatever Wolf3D runs on, would anyone be able to do things with it, or convert it to Doom or something?

NUH-UH BREED is a post-neo-industrialist statement-slash-protest about the government. You are a person who wants to speak his mind but the government is trying to silence you. You have to get to the border of the country to get to the Free Land (not America), but the government is sending in everyone to try and stop you, by forming an impenetrable line of force. It's quite obvious, really. If you honestly want a wad with nothing more than a "pew-pew hahahaha" motive behind it, I'm making a 32-map megawad for this purpose tentively entitled "World Of Wyvern". It's mid-evil.

    The Player's Challenges: BREED

Oh surely not. It'll be awesomer than that. :3 I'm telling you, this megawad will be so awesome, it'll make you take a look at all the other WADs before it and ask "Why did I even bother with those?" because this one will be that awesome. You will never look at Doom the same way again after you finish playing this megawad! :D

This only means that I must be vigilant in ramping up the difficulty of my megawad!

Omg you guise, I didn't know my map was THAT good! Thank you! :D Wow was really an inspiration for me, it is such a misunderstood WAD. I mean, it's so blatantly obvious he was making a statement through the simplicity of the "one room, one gun, one demon" mechanic. It was a powerful message, telling us of the claustrophobic feelings one can invoke from being in large crowds, and while the space may be large, the crowds make it seem very small. The hanging man above the Cyberdemon pit is symbolic of the troubles we all have hanging over OUR heads, the ones that loom in our minds. The BFG-9000 with the ammo in the corner is symbolic of a person readying himself for the dangerous road ahead, and being prepared for anything. The lack of a real exit is telling us that we can't merely escape from life's problems, and that the only way out is, of course, death. It's quite obvious. I can't believe no one saw it before!

  11. Sorry for the double-post, can't add any runs via Edit mode. This specific run shows me attempting the 1st lap without God Mode. Only got about half-way. Here's a Rapidshare link. Also, updated the file with a small text file. P.S. Crap, didn't see the part about the attachment appoval thing. SO sorry ><;;; EDIT: Okay, now I know why God Mode is never in demo runs. x3
  12. I Do Devious Quick Deaths. I would use it because of the sheer number of monsters coming at you. I tried to train on the map a fewhours ago, and got stuck in the Pinky room because of the Arch-viles nonstop attacks. Another time the Pain Elemetals completely blocked one way and a buttload of monsters blocked the other. God Mode isn't needed if you are like, THE Doom God, but for everyone else... I made the challenge a challenge of time, regardless of health. If you can beat this thing without God Mode, more power to ya. To me, it's impossible to beat this chalenge without it. If anyone can prove me wrong, PLEASE do. I would LOVE to be proven wrong. :D
  13. Okay, first off, hi, first post here (I think, it's been awhile). Second, This is a speedrun challenge that I've been working on for about a week now. I call it: Final Doom: Go 2 It SpeedLap7 Insanity Challenge. Why? Because it is a Speedrun Challenge, on the Final Doom map "Go 2 It" (level 32). It involves 7 laps around the arena, 3 counter-clockwise, 3 clockwise and 1 in both directions. MUST-ON SETTINGS: -Respawn Monsters -Fast Monsters These make up the "Insanity". Speedy monsters that come back after a few seconds makes for a very interesting run, and quite fun to boot. OPTIONAL (BUT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED): -God Mode (Unless you want to die) HOW TO RUN THE COURSE: You must get all three keys, in counter-clockwise laps, then once the blue key is obtained and that lap is completed, go in clockwise laps and unlock the doors one at a time. The challenge of this is to do it in the shortest amount of time, while an infinite number of monsters comes at you from all sides. Each lap is a different route through the virutal asylum, with the final lap being the longest lap, a trip through almost all of the map. First lap Second lap Third lap Fourth lap Fifth lap Sixth lap Final lap GOOD TO KNOW: -The door leading to the Pinky Room MUST BE OPENED before Lap 6. Laps 2 and 4 give you ample oppurtunities to open the door beforehand, saving you a buttload of time. -You can take two separate routes on Laps 1 and 3. Whichever one you think is faster is your choice. -RUN, MAN, RUN! I should have a demo run up pretty soon, I just got the demo fix for Doom95. What do you guys think so far about this?
