    Is your name/avatar a reference to lamps in Nethack?  The game has hardwired me to get really excited when I see standalone yellow parentheses

      I actually chose the username when I was like 11 or so just arbitrarily. I just like leaning into puns, but yep I play NetHack! I've been getting back into it recently and recording video if you wanna check it out! Lamps are exciting to find, especially when it could mean a wish!

      Always the best.  Probably the most exciting thing to run into on the earlier floors

       

      ^My best game so far was as a Dwarven Valkyrie (probably true for a lot of people), was crushing it until my stupid ass thought whaling on a floating eye was a good idea.  I always wanted to get good with the wizard but haven't found a good strategy for getting very far yet

      I've been able to ascend a few times but only with a Dwarven Valk, hopefully I can record myself pulling it off hehe. I've barely played the other classes, but I have made it to the Quest with as Monk

    Just realized I passed my 15th anniversary of joining Doomworld a week ago

     

    That isn’t much compared to some of you old timers out there, but the time I’ve been here is longer than the time between my joining and the release of Doom itself, so that’s something (it’s also almost half of my life so far)

     

    Anyway I’m super proud to still be here and still be mapping after all this time (a couple years-long absences aside), I’ve seen some of my other favorite grandpa game communities wither away but there’s so much young and old blood here and so much life and creativity and the community is better than ever in a lot of ways. What a cool thing to be a part of!

     

    As a last note I will be keeping my current custom title until I actually finish a project (which may not be too insanely long from now)

    Hey kiddies!

    So my friend Andrea here has put together a video for a competition this website is running, called "My Biggest Baddest Bucket List", which I would surely submit my own video to if only I had a life outside of studying to make it with. In any case, for the sake of giving her the opportunity to spend six months going fucking everywhere as well as for me to live vicariously through her, I ask you, dear Doomworlders, to give this video your vote. It will take but a minute and make you super cool.

    Also, it's good to be back. I've been away from Doomworld for a long time (perhaps 8 months now?) but I figured this was as good a chance as any to return, if only for a bit.
