How would you rank the Doom games by difficulty?

    Just about. Doom 2016 - 4.5 (I feel so squishy) Final Doom - 4 Doom 2 - 3.5 Doom1 - 2.5 Doom 3 - 1.25 Doom64. Probably 5 because N64 gamepad.

    Doomworld Members' Sketchbook

Experimenting with alcohol based markers for the first time. Looking pretty bad so far, not very used to working with a medium that don't allow mistakes. But from left to right, there is some progress at least. And I should get my ass over to some live drawing sessions and beat out some of this rust I am experiencing drawing bodies.

I can attest to that. The things that make me laugh rarely make sense even to myself. Remember laughing profusely at watching Idubbbz stab a can of fermented herring with a large knife.

WRATH: Aeon of Ruin (a new game from 3D Realms)

Yes. That's how you win arguments. First make vague excuses giving the air of addressing the point, then finish off with an ad hominem attack. Why not just admit that it's just a personal preference of yours instead of making absurd claims of game mechanics being illegitimate for whatever reason.

    Texture dont fit good in-game

It's enough to split it into 2 textures. It can be 256 wide, but not taller than 128px

    Doom: Annihilation update

What characters are these you are talking about though? There are no characters in Doom. Maybe you're not looking hard enough then. Anybody is a lot of people and I myself would appreciate more positive latino characters. They are not always portrayed as what you expressed. But it's definitely something that I think should addressed. Where have you read that? Please share. Now I don't doubt that there are SOME black individuals out there that get offended over this, just as you get offended over a woman getting to play "white doomguy". But where are black people as a group complaining about this? Also, if you are making waves about a movie, the marketing stunt is working. People are talking about it. There are such a thing as bad press. But in cases like this, it tends to just make people more interested what all the whining is about. The only reason I even knew about this movie and that they had a woman of color portraying Ariel, was because you told me. And now I am slightly curious about seeing it, just because I know some racist chuds are getting the undies in a bunch over it. ;) But what really tips people off on this whole hypocrisy is all the untold cases where characters get white washed in movies. When the shoe is on the other foot, it's not such a big deal to all of you who make a big deal out of a character being made into a woman, or a person of color. Or heaven forbid, a woman of color. Pretty sure they did that too. Did you see the new Star Wars movies for instance? They had a woman, and a black man as lead characters. Even a latino as a second character that wasn't a servant nor a drug dealer (Poe Dameron). Lots of people lost their shit over that. EDIT: Cis is from the latin meaning "at the same side". A cisperson, is a person agreeing with gender they were assigned at birth. So a cismale, is a person that were born with male sexual organs and identifies with the gender of "male". Based only from what you've written in this post, I don't believe you. Generally though, I'd refer to other people to determine if they perceive me as open minded or not. Not exactly the thing you can determine about yourself. You can say that you TRY to be open minded. But very few people walk around thinking of themselves as close minded, or irrational, or stupid. Being criticized for what you say and think is not as bad as what you make it out to be. It's the consequence of having an opinion and sharing it. You're close to a revelation there though. Yeah most characters are heterosexual cis male because they are made by the same. They might be the intended target demographic. Because they are also made by heterosexual cis males. Forgetting that there are more people in the world than they. That is the result of living in a patriarchal society. It influences everything. Even the way we think about things. Like that "this is fine". Or that this is the way things are meant to be. And that heterosexual white males are the ones that generally go see these movies, is actually not true. Sure they make up a large part of the audience. But so do men of other colors, nationalities. Women for instance tend to like a lot different things. Many of them like a fun action movie just as much as I do. (some of them even more than I do). These things aren't as clear cut as you seem to think. Just as you profess to love all sorts of movies. So do other people. Women, people of all nationalities, LGBTQ whoever else that may not be included in any of those groups. Now I want to stress that just because I disagree with most of what you say here, that doesn't mean I think you're a bad person. I don't know you so how would I be able to make that assesment from some words in a thread online. But I do think you have a narrow perspective. And making a big deal about a character no longer being male, ESPECIALLY a character in a DOOM movie of all things. Is pretty absurd. Yeah, sure you don't care at all. It's pretty hollow when you make a big deal about it before claiming that you don't care, to then express why you care. Because politics. You don't want change, because you're comfortable. Other people want change however, because they aren't. EDIT: Fixed some stupid mistakes.

    Using DDS textures in Doom

The benefit of DDS textures is that they can contain mipmap copies of themselves. Allowing the game to load the smaller versions of them not overloading the memory. In pretty much all engines I've seen them used however, they generally get placed in a DDS parallel folder where the directory structure of the texture folder is mirrored and the DDS textures are placed. I don't know if this is the case with GZDoom. But it's worth a try. BTW, speaking of PNG. They are pretty awful for games. They take WAY too long to load.

    Wolfenstein Young Blood

Mmm, I dunno. The New Collossus was a lot stronger narrative and game than Youngblood. I was pretty curious to see what they did with this premise. But unfortunately they didn't really do much with either game play or story. The story doesn't really get time to breathe, and since you're playing with someone else you are usually distracted from the story and at least I were more interested in just getting further in the game than listen to someone speak, or read something etc. Then the game play gets a bit of the same issues. There's not much in terms of slower missions that we've come to expect of Wolfenstein ever since RTCW. Even though they still have takedowns and commanders etc in the game. There's really no areas where you actively infiltrate anything where you care for a second if you would trip the alarm. The cooperative aspect is bunched in with a semi rpg game with a semi open world where the cooperative functions are quite shallow. (mostly that you need to be two to open a door or throw a switch etc). Hence I said, it's fine. A servicable game for a few hours with a friend. But there's not much lasting impression from it.
  15. My game Doombringer is 5 GB at the moment. Anyone who say something like that don't understand how much space these High Def resources tend to take. Especially in the case of Id Tech 5 and forward where textures has been changed in how they work.

Doombringer : Episode 1 Released on Steam!

Thanks. While I do like making the maps for it I was hoping to attract some level designers to help getting a leg up on the map creation. So I could focus more on developing the other enemies. So anyone who is curious should PM me and hopefully we'll get some cool maps done. :)

WRATH: Aeon of Ruin (a new game from 3D Realms)

It's the darkplaces engine, you can save your game by using the console. Just write : save <savegamename> To create a quicksave function you can do this: bind F6 "echo Quicksaving...; wait; save quick " bind F9 "echo Quickloading...; wait; load quick"

    Doom: Annihilation update

Doomguy is not an iconic character, he's hardly even a character. He's an avatar. Doomguy's armor is iconic. But there can be anyone behind that visor.
