  1. Fascinating. However the point of what Wild Dog was asking is if it could play any OpenGL games at present, at all. So did you bother to download and run the Quake 3 demo or not?

    ZDoom Flat Glitch/Bug

How is this fence constructed? If it's a self-referencing or normal sector, as the lift rises the ceiling flat will fill the transparent areas of the texture until it moves below the player's viewpoint. I'm not sure what you mean with the rest of your post. Modded internals? You mean as a stand-alone level the fence is fine but once you place it into your larger wad it breaks?

    Oh yeah, that's in E2M5 I think.

Typically Deepsea but it's not going to help you with GZDoom, GZDoom Builder is much more suited. I only know limited scripting and usually only map for vanilla ports. But don't worry, someone will come along that will look at your script and know what's wrong right away. :)

No, tutorials tend to be really helpful. Unfortunately my experience with that port are limited so I can't help too much.

Get that opening bracket down to line 4, the hudmessage at line 5, and the closing bracket at line 6.

Hmm, you may need this: #include "zcommon.acs"

    Weirdest damaging floors

I've done this in one of my maps, its a radioactive chamber, all shawn2 on the floors and ceiling with a special sealed door. The room does more damage the further in you go.
  9. Shouldn't have to ask, it's just common courtesy when asking for help from people so the above situation doesn't happen and you don't waste people's time... actually forget it, I shouldn't have bothered given your history.
  10. Well if you're not going to tell us what you already tried I don't know what you expect. Good luck.
  11. 1. Go to the GLDirect page on SourceForge http://sourceforge.net/projects/gldirect/ Download gldirect5_opensource.zip. 2. Extract the contents. Go to the gldirect5\bin\release folder. 3. Copy opengl32.dll to your GameData folder. 4. Start the game Found this after about 9 seconds on google. A little self-direction can go a long way.

Specific Things in Doom that annoy you

Something you must not have noticed in your 20 years..the berserk pack never runs out. It lasts an entire level. Save those invisibility spheres for hitscanners like chaingun dudes and shotgun guys, much better.

    Levels of detail, how much?

People appreciate gameplay. Few people want to fight demons in a bathroom. If your going for some realism or art piece there are far more suitable engines.
  14. Hmm awesome..well..I really shouldn't...I'll keep an eye on this. Thank you.
  15. What kind of compatibility are you aiming for?

  17. Alright I'm going to try one more time, even though I've had more fruitful conversations with a brick wall: Interview from Gamefan, with the creators of the ports of Duke3d and Quake explicitly stating that yes, their engine is full 3D. http://www.whipassgaming.com/genesisreviews/powerslave/dukenukem3d.html Interview, also from Gamefan, with Lobotomy Software on modifying Slavedriver with new techniques for making the Quake port as awesome as possible: http://www.whipassgaming.com/genesisreviews/powerslave/quake.html And finally, Quake on Segaretro, referring to the well documented and fully 3D engine, Slavedriver. Are we done now? Can you please stop with this nonsense? http://segaretro.org/Quake
  18. I don't know what to tell you man. The engine is well documented in emulation and retro communities. It's plain as the sun in the sky anyone playing or observing the game that Slavedriver is fully 3d. As far as engine movement goes, you're wrong again as E3M4 on Saturn Quake has it's moving platform the player has to ride around on in one sequence of the level and it's horizontal movement is fully intact. Powerslave also has several moving objects within the engine. The only thing I've not seen is rotational movement. Even Saturn's trademark rendering issues are present, including quad splitting on surfaces and distortion/squashing of sprite textures as their vertex origins move past the camera, though due to the expert programming of this engine this is minimized. Not to mention dynamic light sourcing/diminishing which is a dead giveaway. Lobotomy wrote this engine specifically for the Saturn's unique hardware, to power these complex games where directly porting Build or idtech2 would have been impossible or massively inefficient. As far as the N64 goes, what do you want me to say? I always thought it looked like shit. :P

Original third entry in Heretic/Hexen series

Um yes, because he is the third serpent rider. Obviously he would appear in both concepts of the next game. I'm sure the name Hexen II was chosen and the Doom engine dropped to appeal to more than just hardcore fans, and new technology gave the game more buzzwords to toss around and stay competitive. The progression of the serpent riders would have been retained because they are part of the overall story.
  20. Clearly it's not. It's well known Slavedriver (the engine used in Powerslave, Quake and Duke 3d on Saturn) is a fully 3d engine. Just because some turbines aren't spinning around (which Jayextee admitted could be due to any multitude of reasons) or doors aren't slanted is not cause to jump to your conclusion about the method of rendering employed in these games. Fun fact, the Saturn's VDP1 design was the basis of the first Nvidia 3d accelerator, the NV1. This also used quads, but the VDP1 ran circles around it in raw polygonal performance. :)

Original third entry in Heretic/Hexen series

Hecatomb was the third game. It was to use the Doom engine again and had players fighting the third serpent rider Eidolon, and his infernal generals. I don't recall anything about more classes.
  22. Ooh good call, I really enjoyed that one.

    Star Wars: Despecialized Editions

Being richer than God probably didn't help either. Back then there was more at stake, his career would have been ruined by a really bad movie. Now even his farts are gold. I feel like this has also tanked James Cameron's movies.

    Star Wars: Despecialized Editions

We had the VHS editions before the prequels or any of that. I miss those. I have to say the extra 'musical number' scene at Jabba's flotilla added to Return of the Jedi is the fucking stupidest thing I have ever seen. I need to get my hands on these for my next yearly Star Wars binge.
